Middle bottle is a vacuum. Air pressure forces the liquid through. As soon as you take the top off you can see it equalises.

so this isnt an explosive mix that when it equals out it explodes? thats a bit like the fill a petrol / oil can with boiling water, then screw the cap on and when it cools air pressure crushes it.

Much more fun if putting a full petrol can on a camping stove to demonstrate the flash point of petrol.

It all starts at atmospheric pressure. Then, when the fluid level covers the outlet in the middle bottle, the air pressure in the middle bottle rises slightly, and the third bottle fills. At no time is any part of this below atmospheric pressure.
