I’ve felt embarrassment over some of my posts. Others though, I think my feelings evolve over time in a positive way. Something that once seemed to be rather sad becoming neutral eventually.

I've noticed this, too.

And sometimes I've noticed a big change in my own interests or tastes over the years. Neither embarrassing nor positive, just interesting to see how I've fluctuated over time.

What did everyone do this weekend?

I walked a lot.

I cooked, watched a movie, went skating and did Duolingo and crosswords.

It was a little too breezy for skating, couldn’t be very long before it started to feel like my face was falling off. But it was sunny and pretty! I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen the sky and the sun. Lovely.

The forecast says we’ll finally get some snow here Mon-Wed, might be up to around two feet. I’m excited, because we didn’t get any snow last winter!

Do you like Duolingo? A friend of mine married someone who speaks only Spanish! Hanging out with them is hard.

I thought it would be interesting to learn a little bit. Am thinking about seeing if he wants to learn English while I learn Spanish from him.

Duo has its pros and cons, but I think for the most part it’s pretty good. Even the free version offers a lot of content, a little more in some languages than others. I haven’t tried the English, but the Spanish is okay. You get listening and speaking exercises as well. The downside is that it is pretty restricted. The vocabulary isn’t huge and not necessarily very helpful for what you might want to talk about, so you’ll need some external sources for sure. It can be a good intro, though, and I’ve also used it to brush up languages I’ve already studied before but that have gotten rusty. I really should pick up Spanish again...

In Spanish you also get the grammar tips in each lesson, that isn’t the case with all languages. You might want to use Duo in browser too, because in some courses the content you can access there and in the app is a little different.

This year we built a rink in our backyard and I am so glad I did. Have had so much fun skating! It has been something I always wanted to do and this year felt like the perfect one for it

That sounds amazing! I miss being able to skate. We don't have a permanent rink here, but they build one every winter, and it looks so much fun. Don't have the balance for it these days, so I just watch the figure skating and ice dance online instead!

I've run into similar when mentioning " oh, I read about that on the net last night"

Co-worker: Oh? What site? I'd like to know more about x.

Me: um, it's uh, a....ummm...just a group of friends from the past few years who can't get together because of all the current restrictions.

I'm so going to hell.

Same thing with trying to explain that I've heard from a friend how things are going in New Zealand, Europe, etc.

What do you all look forward to each day?

Every day I look forward to solving the New York Times crossword. On workdays I look forward to hearing the cat sounds of my colleague’s cat during calls. On weekends I look forward to making extra good coffee in the morning.

Currently I’m also looking forward to and enjoying the days getting longer.

I had just spent a day with 2 girl friends in a spa in Budapest in Hungary and we treated ourselves to a full body massage at the end of the day.

When we were done, the masseuse reached out her hand, presumably to take the towel from me, and asked me: “are you finish?”

To which I replied: “no, I’m Irish!!”
