The Construction Thread

Rosc, are you working on the new Nets' stadium site on Atlantic & Pacific in Brooklyn?

That shit is going up fast like a new McDonald's. It's still a skeleton right now, but it almost looks about 20% done already. I used to live right down the street from that area back in 2000, way before even the Target store mall complex & office space was built. I still bop around there every week because of personal biz, but it's just something watching this cavernous space with towers get incrementally constructed on area that used to just have three-story high apartments over storefronts and you could find your direction just by looking up at the clock tower on the old bank building.

That's a different local. We look down on them.

If I'm not mistaken, that project uses the new prefabricated building technology invented in China. I mentioned it earlier in this thread somewhere.

I heard the same . . . that there using the new prefabricated building technology and that it hasn't been tested at the heights of these buildings.

There's a video somewhere in this thread of the Chinese building a high rise in 24 hours. A stunt to demonstrate the technology.

I have a complaint with this new generation of construction gimme tee shirts.

They're all this gnarly, hi-visibility, search & rescue, electric neon yellow-green.

It makes you look like you work on a loading dock.

I don't like it! What's wrong with a nice black, grey or even a white or red or any other damn color.

are they tight & sweaty?

triple XXXL

I should post a pic of my new 1" spud wrench (the purchase of which culminated in the giving of a gimme tee). It looks like something Fred Flintstone would use to torque the lugs on his brontosaurus excavator. Gigantic. I know you like that stuff.
