The Construction Thread

Tell them not to torque the bolts all the way down, we're just going to have to break them loose anyway.

i hope things are going well back at work. :rose:

that elevator ride does not sound fun.

A guy coming back after how long on comp complaining about a safety course and piss test?

Not that i think you did anything wrong Rosco but look at it from an employers point of view

It's actually just for the hall, they want everyone to have this shit now, especially for the big jobs.

They would have sent me out yesterday to a highway job if I had a vehicle.

Like a fool I didn't mail my renewal on my torch permits and now I have to go down to FDNY HQ and deal with their Kafkaesque bureaucracy which is all staffed by pissed off black lades "go to window B".."Window B just told me to come to you at window A"..."I don't care what she told you, you need to go to window B"...(sitting 10 feet away from each other).

Employers want it from the hall...I don't want any guy here that doesn't have fall arrest training, man lift certs...the whole bit. I'm not gonna spend time safety training a guy that I am paying over $50.00 an hour for.

Its bad enough we gotta pay bus fare for him to travel...no vehichle...come on...but I guess for you, thats NY...here its cause they all got their license taken away for DUI's

I live in an apartment building in Queens...no parking here. I've worked in New Rochelle, Yonkers, White Plains, all via public trans with no problem. That's one of the best things about living here.

Thats what I said...NY, no need for a car...them little smart cars though...you don't have to park em...you just pick them up and put them in your pocket

Those things don't look too safe man....

It's all good with the OSHA course. My union wages allow me to pay the 189$ fee, thus saving the employer the cost of training. It's win win. That's like three days wages to some poor bastard from Mexico.

actually the crash tests on them are pretty impressive. i'm too lazy to google it right now but they bounce like basketballs and don't bend. I saw a test of one crashing into a concrete highway barrier...don't forget the toothpicks for your eyelids in the OSHA course...or do they know enough to supply them as you come in the door
