Why?...
It seems that rebuilds always have code upgrades. Building codes evolve, and any new construction has to follow the current codes.

Then they'll follow them.
What are you saying?
But better, due to the building code improvements?I'm saying, they will be the same, but different.....
They were stark, but beautiful. It's mainly just important that they look more or less the same from the outside.
The original towers took years to reach full occupancy if I remember right.

In Manhattan?
Are you kidding?
Any number of stories is economically practical.
OK, I was concerned that they may be upgrading to an upper level of 747proofness

If it's no longer economically practical, then America isn't as strong anymore as it was in the 1970's.OK, I was concerned that they may be upgrading to an upper level of 747proofness
No, they are not.
Look at Goldman Sachs
They stopped at 54 because after that the cost outweighs the benefits.
The only reason they go higher nowadays is just to Be The Highest
You gotta be an Oil Sheik to afford that title

Can someone here answer a question about sheet rock replacement on ceilings?
As in replacing standard material with expensive high density rock on a large scale of square footage? And no, not greenback. Though I prefer greenback in some cases.
NoIs that your off-the-gridhouse?
I did the structural detailing on a retro of an 80 year old building downtown. The GC was new to the business but he was a good guy. Anyway 9 months into the job steel prices shot up and he had been sitting on the purchase orders and got burned when he released me to buy. Then 5 weeks into the fabrication the building owner makes changes that affect me and drives the prices up and adds about 2 weeks to the job. When we got about a week before we were due to complete fabrication the owner starts shitting kittens because the cost is going up and the job is behind schedule. Then about 3 weeks before the building was due to be complete the GC’s calls and tells me he was fired.
That was 4 months ago. I was out at that building today to deliver the erection plans for the stairs that have been sitting on my yard for months to the new GC. The building owner really showed the world who was in control. And the old GC moved onto his next job, the retro on the building next door.
God I love this business!![]()
The detailers lot is not an 'appy one.
We complain about you guys all the time "who is the moron who designed this connection so that you can't get the gun on half the bolts" etc.
I've seen what you guys go through---you can keep that job!
