I went. Thanks for the link. As soon as I caught sight of the exploded diagram and all the washers and gaskets my heart sank into my boots.

I've got one of those old sinks with the stopper in the drain that can be open and closed with a push-pull handle located between the faucets. I want to take the stopper out so I can try to unclog the drain. How do you get it out?

Reach behind the drain pipe, right above the trap. There you'll feel a metal or plastic rod coming out of the pipe, held in by a compression nut. UNscrew that, and pull out the rod. And you have successfully released the stopper from it's prison, and you can start unclogging the drain.

My guess is, that it is full of hair, and soap left overs.

It can be a pain in the ass, depending on how much room you got.

You may have to take the rod off the pull handle too. It's easy. Just pull that little metal wing off, and you should be good.
