The Construction Thread

Done enough of that over the years.

I get a lot of calls from engineers asking where prices are now

and you should be getting those calls.....design guys only know were cost's were last time......maybe.....

I was working on a large plaster restoration project in Philladelphia about 10 years ago. I'm patching a wall when I see an old electrician and his apprentice. Then I hear a conversation I will never forget. "Hey kid, stick your hand in there" Needless to say, this got my attention. Apparently they were trying to find a live wire that was buried inside of a column. So of course, the kid sticks his hand into the column and promptly gets himself zapped. The journeyman says "did you find the wire?'. The apprentice replies "No!". Old timer says "Stick your hand back in there then". The apprentice yells "Fuck you!" It was at that moment I was glad the plasterers union called before the electricians did.

about 5 hours of electrical work, and still can't find it

this old house is wired something awful

2 ceilings fans on the ground, 2 outlets wide open, and the kids are asleep on the couch cause they have no juice in their rooms

yeah home-ownership

If you're replacing Pickle. Track it from the box. Each wire.

Cool. No worries there Pickle.

let us see
we have new romex from light to switch and switch to outlet

many hot wires around

and the 2 new ceiling fans are up, and working

tomorrow a new wall

That sounds pretty cool! It's better to have electricity close by than none at all.
I take it the ceiling fans aren't for the bathroom...:D

I have to post a couple of pics from that job I've been working on. After all that hassle to get a permit to use Pex, the inspector wanted to know if he could use it at his place and was on his way in less than 15 minutes.

I also have a shower that I just finished that looks pretty nice.

No worries for me. I am trying to convince these building departments that you should be able to use pex here and not just sneak it in.

What kind of shower fixture? Body sprays, hand held ?

i have faith in him, he has done very good so far

we some things needed a second attempt, but he has done very well

Read the manual. Is all I gotta say. And since you did Pex all around. I assume you dont have to solder. If you have to Solder, you got ONE take. and thats it.
