we got plumbers for the septic shit.........and engineers to guide the rocket scientists......
not a saw, but definetly a chain
somebody hung it in an oak tree a few years ago
oops, that was a maple
I got the oak from that lot
they were gonna chip it for hog fuel
700 bd ft of red oak
if you guys want hardwoods, i have acres of them. some of my oaks would take 3 people to reach around. but i don't have the heart to cut and mill them. i thought about it to panel the interior of my barn, but i couldn't go through with it.

That's my problem I oversee the restoration of 640 acres of poorly cut timber. There are stacks of wood laying around So I and very uncomfortable cutting down some monster DF that's 8 feet DBH
save the big ones till they die
then don't let them go to waste
I'm still on the bambi level when it comes to trees. I see them with big cartoon faces going "don't cut us down!!!"
The bulldozer cut half of the roots and it's along the road.
As they say it's better to take it down then have it fall down.
Believe me, I'll shed a tear when I do this.
I could use some walnut and cherry

my local silvacultural experts tell me to cut all of my oversized oaks and leave the rest. they say they're about at the end of their lifespan and i should harvest and take the profits rather than wait for them to die and rot in the next few years.
still can't do it.
Whats DBH?

Good picture.
I've only worked with one of those rigs once, in White Plains, setting this external stair tower between a new building and an old building, basically in an alleyway. Each section was 2 60-foot columns with three of the cross beams already welded in, they had to be tripped right there without smashing the new curtain wall or anything. We were climbing in and out of the old building, which was some kind of law office....two connectors with tons of clinking tools barging in "uh, we need to get out the window and cut that column loose...."
thats funny
my dad was an instrument man with the ironworkers
he would go into the office towers across the street with his transit to plumb the building. 60 storey stuff
he sure met a pile of secretaries
I snapped that pic yesterday, we shut down cause of the storm, thats why it looks dead there
them tower cranes aren't real fast, but they sure can reach
