The Construction Thread

No they did not.

Now leave Roscoe alone. After last semester's Materials and Methods 2, I have a deeper respect (and small infatuation) with iron and masonry workers.

Be carefull with the ironworkers.

Little story one told me...and I work with them every day

He is sitting in a bar/nightclub making good time with this girl.

Things are going great and he seems to maybe have a new friend.

She says to him...so, what do you do for work.

He proudly says...I'm an Ironworker.

She gets up and walks away without another word.

Is this like Mechanics of Materials? We used to call it "Busting Lab" because we always got to break things? Or is it one of those touchy-feely courses?

A few years ago while putting in some machinery, i forget where now, I had a crew of ironworkers putting up a mezzanine for equipment placement. One of the guys on the crew was real slight of build. He showed up for work one morning wearing a pair of "Chic" blue jeans. Evidently he and his girlfriend were real close to the same size, he was running late, got dressed in the dark and put her jeans on.

How bad to you think a crew of ironworkers razzed him for the rest of the job?

hahaha awesome.

as my partner's wife told him one day "jesus, it's a whole fucking lifestyle with you guys isnt it".

We live to build...can't help it

I am a builder and get really tired doing it. :) Even managing my crew is sometimes exhausting. Literotica for me is an escape. Although I excel in the building trades, I am too focused on sex to bring my work here. Now I do reverse it up and do lit while at work. :D

fair enough....i started this thread when i was out of action for years with an injury and kind of missed the action.

Architecture.

Freshman year is an overview of what makes a building. I had a blast with steel, concrete, and masonry. They pretty much killed my interest in Type V construction.

A school was my next guess...

I sometimes wonder about architects...are they wandering around thinking "jesus they really made a bollocks of my idea". i guess i was thinking about that because i'm stuck doing finish ornamental work this week.

anyway, welcome to the thread, and i hope you go designing lots of stuff out of big, heavy structural steel.

Don't get me going on ornamental...cripes.

We just did a set of stairs with a single HSS 10x6 stringer up the centre with wedges for glass treads to sit on and stainless steel railings and glass infill..cripes what a job

Last winter it was 1" plate 12" wide , 2 stringers notched for 4" thick wood treads and pipe and round picket railings, with a 45 degree turn half way up

I hate them jobs...can't get enough money for the hassle

Just charge more money.

yah whats up with that single stringer in the middle thing. it's everywhere these days.

the only thing worse than ornamental is punch list ornamental fuckups where you can't even turn around without bumping into finished glass or tile or having someone scream AHHHH you're shooting grinder sparks all over my terrazzo!

That is sweet.

Now get the fuck out of here.

All my quotes contain the phrase..."not responsible for any protection"

but yeah...doesn't work with punch lists

I'm with you, I hate it. Last semester, we had to design stairs (harder than you might think) and over half the class did single stingers and/ or glass treads. Not to mention only a handful of us actually took building codes into consideration.

Switchback with steel floating stringers, solid wood treads, and a gorgeous wrought iron railing. Maybe not "cutting edge" but no one is going to die from my design.
