That wasn't Sokka that was a robot named socka the same technology that made Al Gore produced him.
The problem wasn't disrespect really, he's at least a self proclaimed fan of the cartoon. The problem was that he tried to show the plot of 22 episodes of a TV season condensed into less than 2 hours of film. It can't be done. The only way was to cut out all the fun and character stuff and just stick to the textbook iteration of the plot of the 1st season (it's a little rejiggered but not the worst I've seen) the movie actually was.
And season 2: the earth book: has even more plot points he has to visit leaving no time for fun or character moments than season 1 did. With that said as much as I'd love to see a live action toph I dread what he'd be forced to do to her character.

Why not we'd know Shyamalan would have Toph's endorsement for that. she loved the version of her in that acting troop. She and Sokka both loved their actor counterparts.

she's whacky that way, why I loved her character so.


In fact that whole fire island players episode seems like a real farce of the Shyamalan film now, doesn't it?

Like the real Sokka said at the end of that episode: "Eh, atleast the effects were decent."

It certainly predicted my reaction to the movie.
Atleast the effects were decent.
