Okay, I asked someone who should know. He said they put something in the water and it coats the rocks, making them slick. The black flies can't lay their eggs on the rocks...also it is safe for humans, animals, and fish.

we've actually been having one of the nicest springs i can remember. it was very slow getting here, but the days have been a perfect combo of bright sun, partial clouds, and possible thunderstorms each day. the storms have been mostly going north of us tho, i guess thru your yard.

If only...I'm up to my ears in a renovation mess. It will be nice when it's finished though.
