I quoted what you said. You choose to ignore it now after I provided clear evidence to the contrary. So be it.
You're making no sense. I'm not ignoring anything I've said. You're the one doing that.

That's like saying that the cause of death was a gunshot. But WHY the person was shot is irrelevant.
Sorry, it's VERY relevant.
You're making no sense. I'm not ignoring anything I've said. You're the one doing that.
The territories could not have joined the Confederacy. And there was no real threat by Lincoln or the North to end slavery in the South.
I didn't realize you were disabled. Go in peace.
Then why were most declarations of secession focused mainly on slavery?
Slavery was the core issue. You can say it was about economics but it was the economic effects of slavery that drove it.
You can't seem to understand the simple fact the war was not over the existence of slavery or the non-existence of slavery. The war was over secession. Lincoln and the Northern government even offered to amend the constitution to guarantee slavery being legal in the South if the Southern states would agree to remain in the Union. The South refused the offer.
You can't seem to understand the simple fact that that wasn't what we were discussing. Again, I now realize you have concentration problems. Sorry for engaging you in a discussion past two or three posts.
I'm trying to get people to understand what the war was about. It was about secession, not slavery.
I'm trying to get people to understand what the war was about. It was about secession, not slavery.
That's like saying the United States entered WWII because it declared war.
Are you really this sophomoric all the time?
And secession was about slavery. If the South had freed their slaves there would have been no need to secede and no need for a war.
You seriously can't be this dense.
That's silly. The US entered the war against Japan because Japan declared war on the US and attacked at Pearl Harbor. The US declaration of war was a formal response.
I beg your pardon. The US entered the WWII by declaring war. Just as you say the Civil War was caused by succession.
Nothing before succession matters, remember?
Japan declared war on the US first and brought the war to the US before the US declared anything.
And Nazi Germany declared war on the US.
That was one of Hitler's major mistakes, comparable with invading Russia.
Japan declared war on the US first and brought the war to the US before the US declared anything.
All of those things were before the US declaration of war. Just as the issues of slavery were all before the declarations of succession.
And if we're going to be technical about it, the Civil War began when South Carolina fired the first shot at Fort Sumter. So even succession wasn't the reason for the Civil War. That's when the North entered the war.
See how your logic makes absolutely no fucking sense?
South Carolina foolishly fired on Fort Sumter because Lincoln refused to surrender it. He refused to surrender it because he would not recognize South Carolina's secession from the Union. But we are wasting time here. You simply cannot accept that the cause of the war was secession, not slavery. It's that simple.
And you simply cannot accept that the cause of the war was the first shot on Fort Sumter, not succession. It's that simple.
The shot was fired because Lincoln wouldn't give up the fort, not because Lincoln wanted to free slaves in South Carolina. It was a matter of whose fort it was.
The Civil War was caused by the first shot by the confederates on Fort Sumter, not because Lincoln wouldn't give up the fort, and not because Lincoln wanted to free slaves in South Carolina.
It's. That. Simple.
Right? That's YOUR logic to all of this. The north wasn't going to fire the first shot. Period. So the first shot by the confederates is what CAUSED the war.
