The Confederacy is the symbol of racist losers.

Have you alerted Oprah yet of the "conclusion" you've "reached", touby?

You live in Hoosierville, bozo...

...what business does your democratic nose have in the republican business of the citizens of South Carolina?

I was unaware living in Indiana renders me unfit to have an opinion about what goes on in the state of South Carolina, eeyore. And yes, I'm aware of the KKK past of my home state. That's in the past, just as flying a certain flag in South Carolina should be, in my opinion. See how that works?

But as others have noted, how is it you're able to have all these opinions about matters that have little to nothing to do with you, but others are not? Seems a little hypocritical of you, eehaw, if you don't mind my saying so, or even if you do. :)

At the end of the day I give a shit what symbol with no power people choose to wave to the same degree I give a shit what two sexes want to marry.

You believe in personal rights or you don't you fucking hypocrites. Neither of these things change anything about your life beyond offending your delicate sensibilities......

Flying the flag at the state capitol is not a personal right. I'm for anyone flying that flag on his or her own property, if that's what they wish to do, or waving it in their hands, if that's their desire, but that's not the issue here.

The issue for South Carolina isn't that some people wave a confederate flag and such. I'm used to seeing it in people's yards, waving from the back of pickup trucks going down the highway, etc..

However, the State officially flies the flag on the State House grounds right in front of the State House's primary entrance in front of Main Street. A law was passed putting it there and that same law prohibits anyone from taking it down. I'll defend the right to personally fly the flag, but I'll speak up when it officially flies as representative of the citizens of my State, which I am one of.

Yes, touby...

...I see how your asshole...I mean, opinion...works.

But, just like the foreigner bozos so free with their own wannabe farts in regards to America's debate about Amendment II...

...it's only what the citizens of South Carolina think that actually matters.

Good try again, though, touby...

...to so desperately, irrelevantly as usual of course, be somebody.

I'm sorry!!!

I do concede a difference.... I still hate that such a move concedes defeat to the people who choose to use it as a racist symbol.

In your opinion, do more people in S. Carolina use it as a symbol of heritage/southern pride or as racism?

You have so little self awareness and introspection, eeyore. So very little. It's almost sad. Almost. :)

Before Eyer came along, I assume all in the GB garden was rosy? Children laughing in the dappled shade of the trees, nymphs and heroes playing in the waterfalls, and the Martinis kept flowing by a stream of comely handmaidens and shield-youths?

about the same you have with telling what a woman has to do with their body

Any woman who has abortion of convenience induced to intentionally kill the innocent and vulnerable individual human being living inside her is fully guilty of capital murder and the hate crime of premeditatingly depriving that individual of her/his natural right to life.

I naturally see two individuals involved, both with the very same equal right to life...

...you see only one individual involved, and the other as not even human with absolutely no right to life except that that wannabe tyrants like your statist ass deem to grant it.

Fuck off, killer.

Yes, touby - again - I understand: you fantasize we're all the same, that no one's opinion is worth more than any other's, that yours is worth the same about the flag that flies in SC as the citizens of SC themselves...

...it's called being a democrat, touby.

But, as far as actual relevance and value of opinions are concerned (even though I know a democrat like you finds it almost impossible to even begin to ponder in those terms)...

...whose opinion truly matters most:

1. The citizens of South Carolina
1a. My non-opinion on what flag they fly / my opinion that it is the opinions of the citizens of SC that only matter

3. Your opinion of what flag South Carolina should fly

See how that works, touby?

Well, most will say heritage/southern pride. That was the claim when it first went up. But it went up at the time of desegregation. It was more of a show of defiance to those forcing South Carolina to mix the races than one of heritage. A sort of poke in the eye.

Even looking at it as one of heritage, it's still rooted deeply in racism. But I'll admit there are those that truly long for this "romanticized" fantasy past they so desire to live again when all was right with the world - when men were men, women were women, black servants were "part of the family", but not quite as much as Beauregard, the beloved family pet, etc..

See how that works, touby?

So my opinion on whether the Confederate flag should be flown at the South Carolina state capitol is completely worthless, but your opinions on a whole myriad of things you've droned on and on about on this board that have zero to do with you personally are valid? Perhaps you can explain how that works?

As to outside opinion of South Carolina, while many in this State won't give a shit when they hear it, most in this State are aware of the harm that flying the flag has done and will continue to do.

We're a tourism oriented State. We've lost some business because of the flag flying. We stand to lose even more based on the opinions of those outside of South Carolina. That's why many of those in the State who oppose the flag welcome outsider's opinions as it does put pressure on the State Legislature. When that pressure is in the form of increasing tourist dollars lost, the State's legislators with a vested interest in tourism will take notice.

Far from it, especially when you voice your opinion of taking your tourism dollars elsewhere as part of that opinion.

Eyer is a simpleton. He can't see past the Walmart greeter.

You're not too good with how the whole "1.-3." deal "works", are you touby?

Maybe you should ask your racist piece of shit pal smoot to line-up you up a GED slot, too?

I think he rarely ventures beyond the parking lot.

Maybe you should get in line yourself.

So, it's not actually "outsider's opinions" which you disingenuously claim you welcome...

...it's only "outsider's opinions" which agree with "those who oppose" the flag that are welcome.

It's always amusing to watch bigotry compete so equally...

...although touby ain't going to be happy to read once more that everyone's opinions aren't equal.

No, I'm not familiar with how your "deal" works, eeyore. And before you get too high and mighty about smoove, he may not have a good education, but in some ways he has a hell of a lot more sense than you do, so shove your comments about him up your ass, and try to stay on the subject at hand, if you can.

Actually, no. The whole point of the Civil War was that it isn't only what the citizens of South Carolina think that matters.
