Alright everyone! Lets see if we can make this one as popular as the ever-present video game thread.

Comic readers check in here to discuss your favorite (and least favorite) titles, characters, artists, writers and publishers.

Have at it!

hi jay~

right now my current faves are he authority and x~statix.

shade the changing man, morrisons doom patrol and the legion "five year gap" storylines are among my favorites.

fave writers are peter milligan and grant morrison.

frank quietly, chris bachalo, oscar jiminez an george perez are my fave artists.

too many fave haracter~midnighter from the authority and raven from the titans pobably.

have always been a fan of Stan Lee, O'Barr and of course, Todd McFarlane.
Fave characters? Spawn, Wolverine, The Crow, Punisher, Daredevil and X-Men

I have to admit, I haven't kept up with many of the newer series' (boy, I'm not too sure about that bit of grammar  ).

But some titles from the past I read religiously were Alien Legion and Marshall Law, both on Epic.

I also liked the Hard Boiled series by Frank Miller. I hear they're even talking about making a movie out of it (no relation to the John Woo film of course).

oh god marshall law rocks~now that is obscure.

have you ever read the brat pack?

I'm a big fan of X-Men, but in general I prefer manga over American comics.

Best manga ever written: kenshinscans.anxious-anime.com

Check it out. Over a hundred chapters, all nicely translated into English. Also, free! :D

Brat Pack . . . Sounds familiar. Refresh my memory.

As far as writers, I always liked Chris Claremont and what he did with the X-Men, especially during the whole Pheonix saga.

I also hold Secret Wars in high esteem. To me it's still the best mini-series ever. I don't why they still haven't released it in graphic novel form. My original copies are getting dog-eared. :(

Hellblazer, 100 Bullets, Fables, Authority, Batman, Spiderman, Thor, Iron Man, Avengers, JLA...Many, many more.

Sandman and Shade The Changing Man are my all time faves.

Neil Gaiman, Garth Ennis, Caitlin Keirnan, Brian Azzarello...many, many more...

Like all different styles of art. If the story is good, I can usually tolerate any art.

I enjoy all of Marvel's work. Just I haven't been really up to date with it all...lol.

I barely know what happened with onslaught and I heard that logan's adamentiam got sucked out of his body by magneto. That's the last I've heard of it. :(

Stan Lee's , The Adventures of Spiderman.

And, I also have a thing for WitchBlade... I want to be her !

that was a couple of years ago~i really dont follow all that much anymore but i do know you can get tons of free comics online at marvel.com

bratpack was from the early nineties~five issue black and white miniseries about the lives of a group of hard luck sidekicks...very dark satire~

well, I have to agree with Pyper on this one- I also like X-Men and had a huge collection at one time. Fathom is hot, but my favorite is manga-- Inuyasha-by Rumiko Takahashi.

Just started collecting this and Kenshin as anime. :)

Sandman is good shit. I tend however not to like the sketchpad style that many comics adopted over the years. I remember I always hated Bill Sienkiewicz but everyone else loved him.

I'll have to check out Inuyasha. :)

A piece of advice though: the Kenshin manga is much better than the anime. I felt that they wimpified some of the female characters for the anime and it just lacks the class and style of the manga.

Growing up I only really enjoyed Daredevil. He seemed like a "realistic" superhero... and the "bad guys" were fairly realistic as well, or at least probable.

It's been more than a couple years since I read a comic though... I am looking forward to the Feb. 14th weekend though. :)

When I started to type who my favorite artists were, I realized that I don't have any anymore. I can't tell you the names of any artist on any book I read with a very few exceptions. I'm a writer, so even though I majored in art for three years, it has really taken a backseat for me.

The Sandman was the book that really opened my eyes and changed my reading habits. Neil Gaiman is my favorite author in any medium. Not just comics.

I know. :(

But the thing with the Marvel comics is that they don't go into a history of what happened before. I'd like to see a timeline or something, that would be really cool.

Can they be "underground"? Not my label, but yuh know...
I read basically everyone on Fantagraphics; Peter Bagge's Hate, The Hernandez Bros Love and Rockets--Hopey<3, Dame Darcy's Meat Cake, Dan Clowes' Eightball, Kaz's Underword etc.

And I don't know who is publishing them, but I also read Ivan Brunetti's Schizo, Julie Ducette's (sp) Dirty Plotte, Dori Seda and a bunch more, but I will restrain myself. Am I the only freak that reads these here?

After that whole Inferno storyline the entire Marvel universe went straight to hell. You could never figure out what the fuck was going on in any of the titles. It got so frustrating I stopped collecting.

Obscure pick. Mr. Blank from a couple of years ago. Great story and a simplistic, but not cartoony art style. I also forgot to mention that I love Powers and the original Crow series is just amazing.

You can talk about any kinds of comics you want. I'd be disappointed if no one mentions Crumb, Spain, Kim Dietrich and a few others. ;)

On a side note, I know the girl that Clowes based his Ghost World character on. I used to work with her.
