Ok, here it is a new game thread, let's see how long it lasts!:D

Rules:
You must quote a cliche, the next person is to give the meaning of the cliche and then post a cliche of their own.

If you get stuck and can not find a meaning then aww hell, just go with the flow and post a new cliche anyways, only it must start with the same letter as the last?

Sound cool? I'll start with an easy one:

Do as I say, not as I do

Do as I say, not as I do

means: Do what is right, because I don't ~or~ Do not follow my examples but I tell you what is the right thing to do ~or~ I don't practice what I preach.

ok, so I'm not great at defining things....I'm in a board here with writers and Im sure I'll get picked on for it...but I do know what it means..LOL

here is the next one, its easy too:

Between a rock and a hard place

I believe

it means having to chose between two difficult choices
or
If you are twisted .....hehehehe

now mine....

Beauty is only skin deep

Meaning you need to look beyond what your eyes can see to the person beneath.

Six to one hand, half dozen to the other

Or any variation therein

Beauty is only skin deep

some desirable or admirable things are nontheless superficial or transient.

For the birds

It means I will pretend that it doesnt matter that you are ugly

:p

A beautiful person who is UGLY inside.
Heartless!

hey..this is fun!!! I think I'm catching on here.

Finer than frog hair, split 3 ways

hummm

Which one to answer.....

Everyone might hate me, but still I am alive

With visions of redemption, I walk against the crowd

I am looking for something, this is my way to find it

so here are 3 of my own!!!

Well, I got confused there...and dagger....you lost me totally!!! lol

6 in one hand, 1/2 doz in another = diference of opinion

for the birds = not sure...but i use it when something sucks

tomorrow is another day = leave today behind and start fresh tomorrow ~or~ there is always another chance

ok, now for another one from me:

crazier than a crap house rat

Six of one or half-dozen of the other = There is nothing to choose from, all arguments are equal. (Six = half of twelve/a dozen)

"For the birds" means worthless or something that should be thrown out or ignored. Also means something silly.

I suspect that it comes from the practice of throwing scraps into the barnyard for the chickens.

No clue here. Possibly "crap house rats" are crazy from dodging what falls into the pit in an outhouse?

Your previous: "Finer than frog hair, split 3 ways " = You can't get much finer than "nothing divided in thirds." Usually refers to something soft, smooth, and precious. Often times used in the same context as "Soft as a baby's bottom" would be used.

Thanks for correcting me, I was guessing :)
My view of it was, the difference in opinion was basicly there are 2 sides to something, different view points.
I heard many but never truely understood the meaning. Thats why I like this thread.

dumb as a box of rocks

Extremely stupid......... (But your not:p)

Went off with his tail between his legs

Went off with his tail between his legs -- was ashamed or embarrassed -- like a dog who knows he has been bad and goes off with his tail between his legs.

My cliche:
There are plenty more fish in the sea

Very scared....

I would say that this is a stupid subject (actually, it's not) but
"there's no sense crying over spilled milk".

If the first one (typically a partner) was not good there are lots more where that came from

The next one: the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence

Being envious of what others have and feeling yours to be inferior.

Each to his own.

Each to his own

Everyone has things that they prefer, in a sexual context, finding someone who has the same kinks

Every Dog has his day.

Every dog has his day

Even the lowest and slowest can win one now and then.

Straight as an arrow.

Straight as an arrow.

usually used in connection with some one being honest. ie an arrow is very straight no kinks or bends in it and it flies straight.

a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush

a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush

it means what you have is generally worth 2 of something you think you want.

a sitch in time saves nine
