The Chosen

"Then sit down... We should wait, to make sure no more of those things come out." Lucy frowned, helping him to settle onto the ledge jutting out behind them.

"I'll occupy them if they come back. You should have just ran without me, Gabe...," She said softly, sucking in a sharp breath as he started to hunt for the blood pouches she had stowed away earlier. "I- ah... I would have caught up."

Her frown grew as she saw exactly how weak he was. "As soon as dusk hits, we're getting you fresh blood. I'm sorry I've made you do this much already."

Eyes: bright green
wieght:99 pounds
Discription: Emaira is a slight young lady. very delicate in stature. with long culry red hair. that falls to her waist. her face is beutiful with large green eyes, full red lips and a smile that lights her whole face.

bio: Emaira never knew her parents she was born in the middle of the night and left on the door steps to a state run building in the hours just before dawn. an old man found her and called the cops she was taken to a foster home and from then was moved from home to home. never staying long and never growing attatched to anyone. when she turned 18 she was turned out on the streets with 20 dollars and the clothes on her back. since then she would walk the streets at night walking for miles. before returning to a series of tunnels where she took her rest in the day. Emaira has a very real distrust of people in general and prefers to keep to herself as much as she can.

I.C. Emaira had been in a light sleep resting rather peafully in her dark little tunel. the entrance was hidden off the main tunnel and she found she really enjoyed spending time here during the day. today she was dead tired and had fallen right to sleep as soon as her head hit her little make shift bed. but she soon woke. listening she tryed to hear what had awoken her.. THERE..there are people in the tunnels.. she waited.. listening.. she could hear them talking.. she tryed to stay as silent as she could as she scooted closer to the smal opening of her tunnel and looked out. a man and woman where there sitting less than 10 feet from her. she watched them hoping the would move on soon. leting out a long sigh she pushes her long if ratty and dirty hair from her face. her hands where smudged with dirt. like the rest of her. a look of fear enterd her eyes as she realized they where not getting up to move on. whispering to herself she grumbles.." what am i to do now... what are they doing down here anyways?" she crawls back to the very back of her tunnel and sits curled up with her back to the wall. watching the enterance of the little tunel fear and anger twisting in her stomache.

o.o.c i am new to this but i really want to be a part of this rp so i am trying. if i mess up or do somethign wrong just let me know i will try to fix my mistakes. thanks much

It wasn't harsh, nothing wrenching or unsettling. Her mind seeped into his, like a marble hall with many doors. Lila held the keys and looked for the memory she needed. So long ago, back to his birth, that genetic memory passed on in all progeny of her kind. She passed the rage and hatred of his adult life, some of that following like wisps of fog in her wake. Adolescent sexual fantasies...he had no lack of imagination it seemed. Childhood dreams she was getting closer..and there it was.

Her hand held out to him in this mental approximation of reality, pulling him along to her until he stood at her side. One hand laced fingers with his, the other unlocked the door.

"This is just visual of course, a way of you dealing with what you are seeing. In a moment things will be far more visceral."

She gripped his hand to offer strength and stepped through the door taking him with her. History swam and spun before him. Liquid images , thought and feeling surrounded him. Kindness, rage. Love and hate, life and death it was all here swirling about pouring knowledge into him. The history of her race and his own. The existence of the Chosen, what they meant to her kind. What he truly was. Lila leaned to whisper in his ear.

"Learn but do not lose yourself. Squeeze my hand and we leave this place."

Funny, he'd expected it to hurt. There was no pain though, just a sudden coolness, as though a door had been left open and draft had blown through. then he was standing in a long hallway, stretching out into infinity both ways. Huh. He'd always thought his mind would be a little more Gothic than this. It has a dignified, orderly, Roman air.

There were things behind the doors he passed. Each door was a little different, and glancing at them, the faint memories he forget he'd lost came back. Hm. There were things here he wasn't sure he wanted her to see. Or any woman to see, for that matter. Well, depending on the woman.

Damn stream of consciousness. He'd known this was a bad idea.

Suddenly he saw her as from a great distance, her hand reaching out to him. He hesitated, and then stretched his hand out to meet her, and he was beside her. She took his hand in hers, and he felt heavier, anchored. He listened to her words, only nodding in response.

The door was heavy and old, very, very old. Words in a dozen dead languages were scratched into the doorframe and the door itself. Bart balked at the threshold. He didn’t want to see what was in there. But Lila would not be denied, and she pulled him in.

Images, memories, feelings, all washed over and through him, his eyes going wide. He saw his entire past flash by, then the life of his father, his grandfather, his great grandfather, all the way to…

The snow was stained with blood, bodies of the vampire’s thralls and wolves littering the ground. The dark walls of the mammoth castle seemed to tower above the Carpathians themselves. Bart was floating above it all, seeing it even though this happened over a hundred years before his birth.

The American was dead already, the Englishman struggling to rise, desperate to avenge his lost Lucy. Jonathan Harker, his hair gray despite his youth, still moved forward in the snow. Well ahead of him, his wife to be, Mina, stared at what she had done. At the thick wooden stake emerging from the chest of the Dragon. Jonathan was there a moment, later, barely able to stand. Mina took his blade and swung it down, her small arms strangely strong. The head came free, and the mountains seemed to sigh in relief. Dracula was dead.

Bart had dreamed of this, the denoument of his family’s legendary battle with the most famous of all vampires. To see it as it had happened, he felt a fresh swell of pride and dedication to his line. Suddenly, he saw something else. Something inside of Mina. A growing thing, living and undead at the same time. A child.

“Oh, God.” The import of it suddenly struck home. That child was Abraham Harker, his great grandfather. The son of Dracula, raised as a human by the Harkers, given their name. The blood in his veins was the blood of the Dragon. “This…it can’t be.” “It’s impossible.” “I’m human!” “I’m not a monster!”

Even as he said it, he felt the truth of what he’d seen in his heart. The unease he’d felt in holy places, even handling his blessed weapons barehanded. It all made sense now. He’d never noticed it until he joined the Brotherhood, all the Harkers had that problem. He thought that was how it was with everyone.

His hand squeezed Lila’s hard, his eyes wide and staring. The look on his face was one of ultimate horror, of a young man whose entire life had changed into a nightmare.

Dammit, she was worried again. He was supposed to be her Guardian, her protector, he was supposed to keep her safe. But here he was, weak as a kitten in the middle of the sewer. He was a fine Guardian indeed.

Gabriel smiled at her words as he held the last of the blood pouches to his lips, biting through the thin plastic and letting the crimson flow over his lips. It was cold and bitter, but even so he felt the strength begin to return to his limbs. His eyes snapped open and for the second time that day he felt the surge of power rush throug him that only blood could provide. The gnawing hunger within him quited for the moment.

Meeting her eyes, he smiled disarmingly, "Luce, d'ye think I'd let ye alone with those damn floatin flash bulbs? Full-blood or not, those things are Eva's toys, meanin they aren't fun fer anyone but her"

Patting the ground next to him, he rested his head against the wall and sighed loudly. His senses were coming back to him now and little by little he was feeling more like himself. Fresh blood did sound good though. Warm, sticky, thick blood. The image literally dripped over his mind. "Been a funny sort of day 'asn't it Lucy? Letters from the Council, new Guardians, a race fer our lives in the sewers. Quite a day's work and the damn sun hasn't even gone down"

They had a few hours at least. Ample time to collect his thoughts and come up with a plan, instead of simply reacting to each and every situation.

"They won't send any Holy Brothers down here unless they know we're either dead or on our last legs, and those Seekers make plenty of noise before they're a threat. If I remember these tunnels as well as I think I do, then we're not far from Vince's cave. Take a breather, then we're runnin full tilt"

Emaira sat with her back to the wall and drew her knee's up under her chin the fear was nearly over whelming. she could still hear them out there talking. tears began to over flow her eyes and travel down her cheeks making clean tracks through the dirt smudges on her face. she began to mumble to herself " they will go away they will go away. no one likes it here. go away go away." her voice rising just slightly before she cuaght herself and clamped her lips shut. laying her head on her arms she waited not capable of resting again until the two intruders moved away from her little hidden tunnel..

Emily and Vincent had gone in the other direction and were a good ways away from the others. She wondered how long it would be before they reached the safe zone. It would be good to take a rest even for a few minutes. It was tiring but it was comforting to know that atleast her training wouldn't be this vigorous to start out.

"Vincent, how much longer do we have to run like this?"

"Alright..."
Lucy sat there a moment, pulling her legs up before her and hugging her knees to her chest. Funny day... That was one way of putting it. Far more Brothers than usual, wandering far too close to her safe area... and then to have another Chosen be right in her dorms for the last few months... But at least Em had her Guardian now. That would make things a bit easier.
She sat up a bit as she heard a noise, not like the seekers that had chased them before... but... Like someone's voice. It couldn't have been Emily and Vincent, they had to have been close to his tunnel by now...
"Gabe?" She glanced to him, a questioning look on her face as she nodded out towards the sound. "I'll... be right back..." She stood up slowly, tugging her skirt back down as she peeked around the corner, trying ot find out where it came from.
Her eyes widened as she found a girl about her own age in one of the other tunnels. She didn't feel vampire blood from her... She was normal. Just... there. "Hey... A-are you ok?"

His hand squeezed Lila’s hard, his eyes wide and staring. The look on his face was one of ultimate horror, of a young man whose entire life had changed into a nightmare.

The first steps were always the easiest. She lead him forward and he did the rest, his own mind compelling him to go back and see what was the genesis of his existence. She did not interfere, she was as much a spectator here as he was. She'd known the stories of course, they all did. The great Son of the Dragon had been one of the most famous among them, his ruthlessness contributed to that. Still even he had not been without love of a kind. It was that love which saw fit to release him from this world, something that might never make sense for him to allow unless one knew the truth of Mina's act. Her child, their child could never live a human life if Dracula survived.

Lila turned away at the moment of history, where Bart might feel great pride her own stomach turned a bit. Ghostly blue gaze roved over the scene, bloody massacre for the age of it. Quincy Morris, his deer skin long coat blossoming scarlet on the tan, he laid sprawled in the snow another victim to fate. Jonathon Seward still fighting for his own life, each wet ragged cough from him spraying the white groundcover with tiny droplets of red. He was not long for this world either. So few returned from this quest, one unknown to the others though did make it back. That life, seed of one of the most powerful of all vampires, would be nurtured and raised by the very family bent on eradicating them.

Bart's voice started as a hushed whisper of denial, he tried to force it to not be true by sheer will, but such was only possible in fairy tales. This was the all too true history of his family line, and he knew it, inside he knew it was all true. His hand gripped her's with a hard, near painful squeeze. He wanted out, he wanted this to all go away. He wanted to unknown what he now knew, Lila could only offer one of those.

A pull from her grip turned him to face her, free hand pressing over his eyes with only a momentary glimpse of her face. Tears wetted her cheeks, the pain she felt was for him, but there was no time for it and she had no right to it. Cool fingers laid softly over his eyes, then moved down to cup his cheek. They were back, the solidity of the leather seats, the soft purr of the cars engine, the cool comfort of the air conditioning circulating around them. Modern reality making itself known.

"I'm sorry Bart, but it was the only way."

His face, panicked and lost for the moment...like those years ago when he'd lost his parents. Only now she could not stand by and watch, the stake was edged away and she leaned toward him, drawing him to her his head to rest against her arm, fingers stroking softly at his cheek and hair. Kiss pressed gently to the crown of his head, it was not comfort that would mean much to him surely, but she had to offer it, he was in shock from what he'd seen and to leave him like that was cruelty.

Eva guestured as she worked her way down the streets, not bothering to glance back as the small group of Brothers followed behind her. She wanted to find this mysterious contributor to science she had heard so much about lately... This Draken Sironetti..
Something about what she had heard on him didn't make sense. Why would a man spend his own money to finance research on something most people didn't seem to believe in anymore? Vampires are merely myth and legend. Nothing to be wasting your time over... Her teeth grit together as she remembered the way others reacted to her Brotherhood tattoo. It was real, real enough that fools died every day from a vampire's embrace... Those cursed demons' touch.
And Sironetti seemed to want to try to cure them.
Was he a fool? Or just playing with people's minds? In either case, she wanted a word with him.... and once she was done, she would join the Brothers in the retrieval of the vampires she believed she had killed in the city's undergound lines.

Eva stood outside of Sironetti's building, pressing the intercom button before glancing to the nearest Brother and handing him her sword. "Go. Inspect the area... Any signs of suspicious activity, notify me immediately." She turned her attnetion back to the intercom as it buzzed back to her. "Eva Lando. I'm here for Draken Sironetti," She said flatly, slipping her gun into her jacket as she waited.

Once back in his van, Draken had almost stripped of his armor, till a strange sense told him to keep it on. Thessaly pulled the vehicle back into the underground parking lot that was hidden under the building, and they got out of the van. He headed up for his office, planning on divesting his armor there, depending on what happened. That warning tickle at the back of his consciousness was still there. When he got on the elevator, his secretary was waiting, informing him that there was an Eva Lando waiting for him. His face contorted in a grimace for a few moments. Eva was a hunter for the Brotherhood. She must have found out the truth, or suspected it. If she were around, she wouldn't be alone. He ordered his private security detail to round up any armed people snooping around the building. They were the best, they had to be. He got up to his office, pulling on some concealing clothing over the armor. He always had an enchanted sidearm on his desk, concealed as a paperweight. Once he was in his usual seat, he buzzed his secretary. "Show her in. Don't let her know about her friends."

Eva waited for the doors to open, shifting her weight on her boots as she stared at the door... When the intercom finally buzzed back that she was allowed entry, she walked in cautiously, unsure of what to expect from the man and his business.
She glanced to the secretary as she came to the desk, who guestured to the door behind her. Eva only nodded, going in and closing it behind her, then turned to look at him. "Mister Sironetti, I presume..." She cocked an attempt at a smile, a slight bend in the thin line her lips held. "My name is Eva. I've been... following your research lately, and I must admit, I'm a bit... curious on the way it seems to be leading."
She started towards the desk, standing behind the chairs before it and looking at him. "At first I thought you were doing something to help cure AIDS, with all this research into blood and its components... But.. after a bit more investigations of my own... Its as though you're trying to cure something else..." She raised an eyebrow. "Almost... like you believe Vampires exist... But certainly a man of YOUR position doesn't believe such superstitions."

Draken raised an eyebrow, then shrugged. He could tell her the truth, knowing she was a member of the Brotherhood. Or he could lead her on, tell her just enough to satisfy her curiosity, but not enough to give away his secret. He decided on the latter. "We strive to cure blood disorders. I believe what the old texts refer to as vampirism is actually a genetic defect triggered by Anemia. As such, it means the disease is very much real and alive. So I'm trying to cure a variety of disorders, including anemia. Also, I know about your employer. I doubt they have any valid arguments for their actions. Still, they act with precision, even if it's a fanatical obsession. Perhaps one day I may prove or disprove the existence of vampires. If I disprove it, you'd better be ready to face the consequences of your actions along with your 'Holy Brothers'."

His hands rested on the desk as he regarded the young woman. She would make an excellent addition to his security detail, but she would need to be broken of her belief that the Brotherhood was doing the right thing first.

fear like nothing Emaira had ever known before over came her as she seen the girl .. her green eyes shining in the dim tunel growing wider as the girl made her way into the tunel a bit further.
" goway!" Emaira nearly screeched in a low voice.

Emaira pushed herself even further against the wall curling into a tight ball. she couldn't help but fear this girl and her friend. she watched the girl in the tunel wondering what she was going to do next. hoping she would turn and leave her alone but afriad that she wouldn't.

Eva frowned as he explained what his company was up to, acknowledging vampires as existant, and that he was indeed attempting to find a cure.
*Sympathiser....* Her eyes narrowed at the thought of it.

They shot open once again, though, as he nonchalantly mentioned he knew where she came from. "Valid arguements? Fanatical?" She shook her head. "Since you already know what I am... I became a Brother after one of those 'infected' killed my parents. The Brotherhood is my family... and perhaps what we do is fanatical.. a mission to cleanse the world of those demons..."

She took out her gun, her eyes set on him as she opened the chamber and let one of the bullets fall into her palm. "If it is only a sickness, as you claim, why is it that just the touch of my bullets... not even a firing of it, just to merely hold one of these rounds in their fingers, causes them such pain? Why would blessed silver and holy water have such an effect on an ill person? Faith healers exist throughout the world, Sironetti... They should feel blessed that I wish to exorcize their demons for them."

Lucy's hands shot up from her sides as the girl panicked and hid further away. "Hey- hey, easy. I'm not here to hurt you or anything..." She gave her a soft smile. "I'm hiding too... From people up there.. My friend and I are just trying to find a way out of here."
She frowned inwardly as she thought about what Gabe had told her... If those seekers came back down, they might find this girl... And if that happened, Eva might think she was helping the vampires...
Shit. She needed Gabe...

"Listen... I'm sorry if I came into your area.." She took a few steps back, getting further from the girl's hiding spot. "Its just that- the people that are mad at me 'n' my friend; I think they're going to be coming down here. I don't want them to hurt anyone else..."

Draken smiled at her question. "I believe it to merely be an allergic reaction in a small amount of people. I haven't determined why yet, but I can tell you that my belief is that the creature your Brotherhood calls God is actually fulfilling a role. The Divine, as you put it, is hardly such if it seeks to destroy another life form. Such action is hypocritic. After all, any God worth being called God is benevolent, and would frown upon the slaying of another."

Emaira was surprised to hear the girl speak. her voice calming Emaira.
she pointed up above her

"bad people in the sun" nodding her head. Emaira thought to herself it's been so long since i have spoken to anyone other than myself... i probably sound like an idiot.

she looked at the girl again. and moved a little closer..
" they are after you huh? only when after some one i hear them."

she pointed down the tunnel and grimaced. moving closer to the entrance.
" they live down there." she stuck her hand out of the entrance and down past where the girls friend sat.

then placed her finger to her full lips " must not make much noise"

she then withdrew into her tunnel again scooting back a little. she watched the pretty girl to see if she would get her friend and be on their way or not.

He was back in the car, back from the halls of memory. He could hear the creak of the leather seats as she moved, smell the familiar scent of her perfume, sense the lurking presence of her bodyguard. It was all distant though, like he was sensing through the body of another. He wasn't sure his heart was still beating. All he could see was the monstrous truth that lie in his own blood. He hated it, wanted not to believe it, to call it another vampiric lie, but he couldn't. It was true, and he knew it.

What were the full implications of this? What was he? What did it mean for him, for his life? If he had one. The Brotherhood...would they be able to cure him or would they just kill him? He couldn't go to the other side, he had too much of their blood on his hands. His eyes stared ahead into nothing. Nothing was all there was for him now. No future, no life, the truth had washed it all away in a crimson rush of his own cursed blood.

He offered no resistance as she pulled him close, his body as limp as a corpse, his mind and heart still reeling. Then through the haze of his horror, he felt his fingers, cool and smooth, running over his face, through his hair. Her lips touched the top of his head in a gentle, tender kiss.

Bart breathed again for the first time, a heaving breath that was almost a cry. The arm with the stake moved, and in the front seat, the big man shifted, hand going into his coat. Bart put his arms around Lila's slender from, and hugged himself to her, silent tears making their way down his cheeks. He clung to her, weeping in her arms like a broken hearted child.

Eva scowled at that. "You question my positon..? And you question my beliefs?"
She clicked the chamber closed, pointing the gun at him as her face went solemn. "Something tells me that you are not what you seem to be, Sironetti. You know far too much about me... And I know so little about you. That, to me, is a very unfair advantage."

Eva- We need you, corner of Main and Academic. Reports of an explosion have led us to a burnt out building, and we're finding vampire's weaponry and a few wasted blood bags from St Anna's clinic., her two way blurted out, one of the Brothers' voice blaring through.

She sighed, setting the safety once more and placing the gun into her coat pocket. "Very well." she replied, hitting the button as she stared at Sironetti, then let go to talk to him once again. "Don't consider this over with."

Draken smiled, then bowed his head. As she left, he shook his head. She was as predictable as her Brotherhood. He buzzed his secretary, then spoke calmly. "Hold my calls and visitors. I think I'll pay a visit to the leader of the Brotherhood."

Vincent skidded to a stop just as Emily began to protest. He spun on his heel to face her with a serious expression on his face. His eye seemed to stare through her head and out the other side. "Shhh! You are Chosen, Chosen do not tire or complain. Stop whinning. Lesson one." He kept his gaze on her for a moment longer then ubruptly he smiled a wide eyed grin like he was playing a joke and she fell for it. He stood up straight and slammed his fist on the wall. With a hiss of steam the wall moved inward and slide aside. "We're here." He said and ushered her inside.

"Shhh! You are Chosen, Chosen do not tire or complain. Stop whinning. Lesson one." he said.

She was silent. He then gave her a smile that made her smile as well. He then slammed against a wall and to her surprise it slid open.

"We're here." he said hurrying her inside.

"Where exactly is here?" She said as they slid into darkness.

Vince turned and walked backward as they reached the entrance to an enormous cave, with all the luxuries of home. Along with glass cases against the walls filled with rows of guns and ammo and blades. He waved his hands.

"We are in the bat cave." He joked with a grin. "Or the Vince cave if you prefer." He told her.

Lucy whinced as the girl explained how often she heard others... onyl when chasing people like her and Gabe. Yeah. This was going... really well.
She paused when the girl pointed off towards Gabe's hiding spot, confused a moment... Wait, did she mean-

"The people you've seen before... Was it a man? With eyes like my friend's? Or... was it a woman?" The image of Eva sat in her mind, still vivid from the thoughts and memories Gabe had shared with her. She had to be sure which side this girl thought was the bad one... If she was against vampires, Lucy probably wasn't going to be doing her much good...
