I bought a used CD for my son and the insert inside is stuck together. (It's a CSNY CD and I can only imagine what's spilled on it;).) Any ideas of how to get the thing unstuck?

The paper is stuck to the CD? Or the paper is stuck to itself?

For the first, warm running water under the tap - no rubbing - let the paper fall away. For the second, no clue.

If it's the insert stuck to itself, it depends on the 'adhesive' (don't go there!).

Best advice I've got is use steam from a kettle - like you use to steam open his letters (specially the perfoomed ones):D

Serious, unless it's superglue of something, hot steam will soften whatever's sticky and should let you peel pages apart (GENTLY!!)

If it works, let the pages dry totally before closing. Nice mom would iron the pages flat.

I give no guarantees, mind - but it has worked for me before with books.

For some CDs you can download the insert information from the internet.

I read this before there was any replies, and didn't have any idea what the good lil witch was talkin about, after these replies I still don't.

Good lil witch, if this is just some papers stuck together, throw them away.

If something is stuck to a CD, try like somebody said steam, or blow dryer on a light setting, or warm soapy water, if you think you didn't damage the CD clean it well with alcohol and dry well before putting it in a player, you will prolly be throwing it away when it don't work.

If this is a multi CD and the plastic thingies is stuck together you break them open with a screwdriver, I done that one time, but don't do like me and bust the CD and the plastic holder.

And most importantly, try to tell us what on earth you are talking about next time you need help.

See ya, Lisa.

The pages of the insert are stuck together. Steam was my first thought, too. If it was my CD, I wouldn't worry about it, but it's for my son. He's autistic and the "paperwork" is very important to him. I'll try the steam method and also go on line to see if I can find the insert information there. If not, I'll simply buy the CD new for him and I'll take the used one.

Thank you for all your help.

And you are sure you wanna go there?

Hockay then.

I had a laundry mishap once involving a roll of money, and the bills ended up stuck to each other. It was intended as my rent that month so I was kind of interrested in getting it useable again.

I got the steam advice and one other: Dry dishwashing powder. Mix up a tablespoon of it in a small cup of warm water. Apply to bills and separate gently. Hang up to dry. Then you can just brush off the remaining powder, when the water have evaporated.

I never tried it though, since the steam worked the first time. And it probably works different with different inks and papers.

I didn't know what cd you meant until I went looking and seen Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Your son likes olden tyme rock and roll, cool.

I know where to get lots of stuffs to download. Sometimes they will include cover pictures, or front and back pictures from the cd, so you can print them up if making your own jewel case. If you say the name of this one I will look for you and see if there is any other info that might be included. I've seen several that had pictures from inserts included, let me know if you want me to look.

Yes, please. I was wrong. It's just Crosby, Stills and Nash, no Young. The CD's Live It Up. Actually, it doesn't sound like one I recognize, but it was what he wanted.
