The Boston Globe newspaper has printed a New Hampshire Primary Endorsement in favor of John Kasich in the Opinion section.

Why did the Boston Globe decide to back John Kasich ?

His record as Governor of Ohio. He is an experienced political figure with a record of results. He is pragmatic and fiscally responsible. He is a moderate conservative who is willing to compromise in pursuit of results.

John Kasich, "whose politics have been largely positive."

gsgs comment-

John Kasich does not express hate towards the poor, the ill, the unfortunate.
John Kasich does not use fear, prejudice, or bigotry to attract people to his campaign.

What is said about Donald Trump ?

"His bigotry is toxic - and it requires a resounding defeat."

Well if they just had to choose, Kasich is the least offensive.

I'm from Ohio. We elected Kasich twice. I voted for him neither of those times.

Kasich is basically Mitt Romney 2.0. Someone the GOP could nominate, get behind, and support across the board. And who will serve nicely as a towel when the Democrats wipe the floor with him in November.

In the CA primary, I would easily vote for Kasich if I consider him to be a strong contender. In Nov., I would, without hesitation, vote for him in preference to the bungling crook or the crackpot the Dems will be running.

The GLOBE could have endorsed Lady Gaga.

She'd get more votes than Kasich.

Has better legs, too.

Kasich is as conservative as he's ever been, and I've been following his career for a long time. This is a guy who, when he was in the state senate in the 1970s, came out against Ohio's proposed mandatory seat belt law because the government has no right to tell anyone what to do. This is a man who still beams about getting to meet Richard Nixon while in college, while all his peers were getting high and wanting to burn shit down.

The difference is that the GOP surrounding him has gotten crazier faster. I have no doubt that if Ted Cruz is still on the scene 30 years from now, and doesn't change a thing about what he believes, people will be calling him a moderate too.
