Try the Sword of Truth Series by Goodkin. VERY good.

I don't really have any time right now to read for myself so the things I've read lately have all been to a three year old...

Moo baa lalala I recommend this for all those young children.

And my son's current favorite is good night moon.

Sorry, single mom syndrome kicking in.

OMG Sam those are two of my sons favorites as well. He is learning to say the animal sounds and can even ask for the book . . ."Boo, Baa, la LA la."

We also like Red Hat Green Hat;)

I am halfway through "Drowning Ruth" by Christina Schwartz. Very good so far. I am enjoying the mystery involved and the psychology behind the sisters' relationship.

"The Sexual Life of Catherine M." by Catherine Millet is next on the list.

Im still in the middle of the 2nd Harry Potter book...with the next two on my shelf. I have also been reading "Pack of Two: The Intricate Bond Between People and Dogs" by Caroline Knapp.

What can I say...I am a multi-reader. :D

Jewelz, I also would be interested to know how that Wally Lamb book is. I loved "She's Come Undone."

So many more books I have piled right now...Geez, maybe I should get off Lit and go read more!!!!!!!

Hey one and all!

I thought it was about time we had a thread about Books in here. Any kind of books, just jump in and tell us all what you're reading, and is it good or bad, and that kind of thing.

Think of this, as a unoffical discussion about books, and reviews and the like. Have fun. :D

Just finished Farley Mowat's Never Cry Wolf...much better read than the movie I saw about it several years ago....

and am reading John Muir's The Mountains of California
and am reading the Fellowship of the Ring

found the Two Towers in my middle son's room...where all of my science fiction has ended up....go figure...

since the car accident I get to read fun stuff instead of early child hood education stuff....arghhh

I'm a multi-reader, too, nastygirl. I've been known to have 4 books going at once. Never get badly lost, either. Back up a page or two, and I'm right back into the thing.

When I lived with my grandfather as a teenager, I read a lot of O. Henry, too, stargirl32. He most always pulls off a very surprising ending - great sense of irony. I never found out what happened to that series - it was a turn-of-the-century printing of a complete set - and it's MIA since his death. Just gone, I guess.

I'm a big fan of Sandra Brown. I'm reading a new author (for me at least) Dorothy Garlock "With Hope".

I've recently started working at the library and shelve books...in the world of fiction I always seem to have Danielle Steele,Nora Roberts,Tom Clancy,W.E.B Griffin,John Grisham and Robert Ludlum on the cart to shelve.

I also enjoy reading Nora Roberts and Jude Devareaux. I pretty much read fiction and historical romance novels.

I prefer paperback to hardbacks...what about ya'll???

I prefer the size and heft of a hardcover book. My wallet prefers the ecnomy of a paperback. I am subject to buy either.

BOOKS! Yay! I love to read just about anything I can get my hands on.

Some Fav's are:

Stephen King ~ The Gunslinger series (chomping at the bit for the next one!), The Stand, but I like just about all of his.

Jean M. Auel ~ The Clan of the Cave Bear series....just got finally after years of waiting the 5th one.

Diana Gabaldon ~ The Outlander series....love them...still rationing myself on the latest of these, or I'll devour it.

Annemarie Selinko ~ Desiree....completely awesome historical of Napoleon (with a little romance thrown in)

Also in my 'library':

Dean Koontz ~ read quite a few of them...liked Fear Nothing and the sequel the best so far.

Anne Rice ~ The Beauty triology....very hot, imho, as was Exit to Eden. And some random others of hers.

V.C. Andrew ~ Flowers in the Attic and oodles more of the never ending incest/abuse stories until I got sick of it.

Gwen Hunter ~ Betrayal and False Truths (similar yet completely different to V.C. Andrews)

Tim LaHaye & Jerry B. Jenkins ~ The Left Behind series.(still waiting for the next one)

John Jakes ~ North and South and all the rest of them

Soooooooo many more!

I usually buy hardback if I know it's a keeper and will read it more than once...or if I just can't wait until softback is released.

Such a good idea for a thread...I'll be checking back here for other good suggestions to pick up. :D

when I was oh about 12 or 13 I discovered that our public library was discarding books...all kinds for as little as 15 cents...so I on my way home from school would fill my arms up with books...all science fiction....this was in the days before back packs were even thought of ...wow......I love paperbacks.....and when I could afford to I began buying hard covers......paperbacks are easier to read while laying in the bath tub and to carry about with one...while the permanance of the hardcover is so attracted and it feels right good to hold a thick and heavy book at any time of the day of night.
Love both hard and paper backs.....it just depends upon the where and when of the read.

I usually buy paperback if I can help it.

1) It's cheaper.

2) It takes up less space on the bookshelf and if you're a bibilophile that can be Very Important.

3) When you're reading it in bed, there is less chance of a busted nose if you nod off.

or the horror of while trying to read in the bath and it slips into the water...a grievous thing for a hard cover..paperbacks are much easier to replace....
