Hey one and all!

I thought it was about time we had a thread about Books in here. Any kind of books, just jump in and tell us all what you're reading, and is it good or bad, and that kind of thing.

Think of this, as a unoffical discussion about books, and reviews and the like. Have fun. :D

At the momment, I am reading Battletech: Path of Glory.

I am only early in the book, so the story line is still being built. Itis good so far though. :)

Tim Pat Coogan's History of the IRA. As with all of his work he has gone to extraordinary lenghs to get it right as evidenced by his love of fine detail.

I read a couple of magazines I subscribe to....I'm reading a Dostoevsky novel called "The Double," one of his shorter ones....it's going slowly, but I have been busier the last few days.

The last modern novel I read was Chuck Palaniuk's "Choke" - and it was as weird as the first three....

Good idea for a thread...I am a big fan of mystery novels..Right now I am reading Dean Koontz's latest book "One Door Away From Heaven" it is a good book so far...As always his books are keeping my guessing! Still trying to get all the characters lined up and trying to figure out what is going to happen next!

Umm... I've just bought a book on Tantric sex.

I'll start reading it later tonight, and maybe report on how good it is.. ;)

Let's see...

Reading the Harry Potter series with my daughter
Reading anything with cars with my son
Reading Fellowship of the Ring, re-reading Anne Rice's Beauty Trilogy, and a self-help book called Eat Mangos Naked

Nothing terribly literary, i'm afraid...(shrugs)...but hey, i've got fantastical and erotic in there...sometimes what more does one need?

I'm going to read The Fellowship of the Ring after the book I'm reading now.

Anyone into Dune?

Never been into science fiction....I'm reading all the classics I skipped in school.

Just wanted to bump this thread. Im always looking for new reads...Havent read much lately but have managed to start 3 books without much progress  Life happens.....

Vinegar Hill by A. Manette Ansay

Riley in the Morning by Sandra Brown

I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb

Okay, this is the second book thread I've seen today. I love posting to these and seeing what everyone is reading.

I am currently trying to catch on my reading and have picked up C.J. Cherryh's Inheritor. Really love her books.

I've also been reading poety by Billy Collins in my spare moments. Great stuff.

Hey Jewelz-

How are you liking that Wally Lamb? I read She's Come Undone last year and enjoyed it.

Haven't read anything recently except books about breastfeeding and parenting. My dad bought me The Corrections for Christmas, but I only read the first few chapters before putting it aside.

Really wishing Pat Conroy would write a new book . . .

Currently, i am again reading "The coldest winter ever"
by Sistah Souljah.

I was reading the Harry Potter series..I'm sooo "feenin" for book 5!!!:D

If anyone has any books to suggest along the lines of magic and wizardry, i'd be most greatful. Thanks.:)

Try the Sword of Truth Series by Goodkin. VERY good.

I don't really have any time right now to read for myself so the things I've read lately have all been to a three year old...

Moo baa lalala I recommend this for all those young children.

And my son's current favorite is good night moon.

Sorry, single mom syndrome kicking in.

Ok Thanks Orlanth & LadySam!!! i will look into those when i go book shopping next week.:)

Oh and Lady, Goodnight Moon..is my fave kids book..LoL I used to read it to my nephew when he and my sister lived with me;)

LoL Well Orlanth my book collection isn't real big..yet.
I have the HP series (books 1-4), i have 14 Anne Rice books, i have the one Sistah Souljah book, i have The autobiography of Malcom X, i have the autobiography of Al Capone, and Like water for chocolate by Laura Esquivel. I hope to build up my collection with a *few* more books:D

I found an anthology of Eugene O'Niell that I could afoord a couple of years ago, bought the whole thing, and read it. Glad I did, too....

The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan is a very good series. I am currently reading The Black House by Stephen King and Peter Straub...it's good so far!
I am very impatiently waiting for two books to come out...one is the 5th in the Harry Potter series and the other is the last book in the Left Behind series.

Textbooks!!! UGH!!! For I am now a 27 year old College Freshman.

But in my spare time (what's that?!?!), I am re-reading "Lord of the Rings". And for sexual stimulation (like I need any more of that), I'm re-reading Nancy Friday's "My Secret Garden". I LUV the "classics"!

For those who enjoy mystery and intrigue, you might enjoy Jeffery Archer's A MATTER OF HONOR. I have enjoyed many of his books, but this is my favorite. You don't know until the last few pages who can be trusted.

I love a good mystery....so for me any of Mary Higgins Clark's books.....she keeps you going.

FIRST AMONG EQUALS is another interesting novel by Jeffery Archer. In addition to being a good read, it gives you a good understanding of British politics and their election process, which is somewhat ( and preferable, in my opinion) different from ours here in the US.

I'm currently reading an Alice Walker novel, but I'm considering re-reading A. S. Byatt's Possession since the movie based on it will be in our area soon. I LOVED that book

I've also been known to sit down with a nice, dry technical manual on something I want to understand. My last was an excellently written - for a shop manual - one on the M1 and M14 rifles.
