Trump’s Mar-a-Lago partially closed due to COVID outbreak

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, has been partially closed after staff members tested positive for the coronavirus.

That’s according to several people, including one familiar with club operations, who said Mar-a-Lago had “partially closed” a section of the club and quarantined some of its workers “out of an abundance of caution.” The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the situation by name.

An email sent to members said that service had been temporarily suspended in the club’s dining room and at its beach club because some staff members had recently tested positive. It said the club had undertaken “all appropriate response measures,” including sanitizing affected areas,” and that banquet and event services remain open.

Trump was hospitalized with COVID-19 last fall and has since been vaccinated against the virus.

Mar-a-Lago was the site of his first known exposure more than a year ago. A senior Brazilian official tested positive last year after spending time at Mar-a-Lago, where he posed for a photo next to Trump and attended a family birthday party.

The Trump White House was hit with several subsequent outbreaks after it flouted virus precautions by resisting mask-wearing and continuing to hold large events.

What is hilarious is how all these anti-mask nuts have been bleating about how masks and lock-downs don’t work, when what they should be pointing out is how masks and lock-downs don’t work, when idiots don’t do them.

Having a mask mandate, and actually following a mask mandate are two different things.


But you can’t blame the bleating sheep completely, when one of the people they take their lead from has been hosting Super Spreader events and spreading misinformation about COVID for over a year now.

When you hear about a large gathering of people not wearing masks, you may cringe.

But when videos posted on social media showed maskless revelers dancing at Donald Trump's New Year's Eve party at Mar-a-Lago, locals just shrugged: Palm Beachers have known since the earliest days of the pandemic that events at the president's private club are mostly maskless and without social distancing.

Posts to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Parler and YouTube reveal Mar-a-Lago's indifference to enforcing public health protocols to control the coronavirus. While many people — inside or outside Mar-a-Lago — briefly remove their masks for photos, social media posts from events at Mar-a-Lago show revelers ignoring social distancing and mask recommendations.

Even though Trump reportedly knew about the potential devastation posed by the pandemic as early as February, Mar-a-Lago continued to host events as normal and continues to do so.

It was not until New Year's Day 2021 when a video was posted to Instagram that showed maskless partygoers packed together on a dance floor at Mar-a-Lago that the club came under fire. Within days the video had millions of views and national news outlets covered the maskless revelers at the president's private club.
