The Blacksmith's Apprentice [M/M] - CLOSED

"And so is my Birdie," Averey said with a smirk as he nuzzled his head against Lucan's lap, more specfically the bulge that had developed there. He was starting to think it was about time for them to head back to the inn but he didn't want to ruin the good time of his friends. A sneaky grin spread across his face as he looked up at that innocent face. Slowly he sat up and put his hand behind Lucan's head, his grip firm and gentle all at once. "Do you see that big oak tree, just behind the shack? I'm going to drag over there and have my way with you. I'm going to pin you to that tree, tear open your trousers and wrap you in my fist. Worry not of them hearing your sweet song, I will do well clamping your mouth as I did that first time. You're right Birdie, your bear is hungry and the only thing I wish to eat is you."

With that Averey made good on his word, taking Lucan's hand in his and moved hastily to the trees. After some rather aggressive kissing, his mouth engulfed that of the smaller man as his strong hand groped and fondled him. Overcome, Averey spun Lucan roughly and pressed his back to his chest. One arm looped around his neck to hold his mouth as the other worked hard to get into his pants. He didn't even bother to pull the hot tender flesh free of his trousers, figuring the dark fabric would hide any stains. "You are mine...My beautiful little songbird and I will ravage you as I please," he husked into Lucan's ear, his breath hot on his neck as Averey ground his own hardness into Lucan's backside. "Do you feel that my Birdie...Feel what you have done to me...The animal you make me..."

Lucan was nervous, but far more excited as Averey pulled on his hand and whisked him away into the shadows, away from their friends. He spared only a moment to consider what Isabelle and Jacob might be thinking before Averey pushed him up against the tree and kissed him while grabbing for his achingly hard prick.

"Mm--!" Lucan grunted against his mouth, shivering and pressing fervidly into the big, strong, aggressively exploring hand down below.

All the breath left Lucan's lungs as Averey turned him around and he found himself squeezed between Averey's rigid cock and his rough hand, plunging unhesitatingly down into his trousers. Averey's other hand over his mouth was fully necessary, and muffled a great deal of squeaks, whimpers, and grunts. The lusty words in his ear were delectable and made his hard little prick throb in Averey's hand. And oh, the pleasure of that steely rod against his backside--gods!

Lucan's eyes rolled back in his head as Averey began to thrust aggressively against his behind while pulling and squeezing at his prick. The young man was overcome very quickly, and even the tightness of Averey's hand as it muzzled him gave him intense pleasure. He thrilled in being so helplessly trapped like this in the smithy boy's mighty arms, and soon he was squealing against the hand on his mouth and shuddering all over as a gush of hot fluid spurted into Averey's lower hand, followed by several more gouts, after which Lucan went entirely limp, breathing rapidly, desperately, through his nose.

Averey loved it. Every shuddering breath. Every muffled wimper. Every stifled squeal. He hadn't expected him to fight him but he did believe that Lucan's shyness would at least give him pause. There was none, he gave himself over to Averey completely, allowing his Big Bear to take control of his passion. He wasn't so quick to release him either, his meaty paw still held firmly against that tender mouth as he worked his other hand out of his lover's pants to marvel at his release. It still amazed him that someone so small could give such a seed. Without a thought Averey brought the hand to his mouth and began to noisily lick away all evidence of Lucan's climax. Well what lay on his hand anyway, he was certain a fair amount was still trapped in the fabric of his trousers and he fought the urge to rip them open to suckle at those as well. He loved his taste, so sweet and savory all at once. Averey could think of no better flavor.

Slowly he slid his hand away from Lucan's mouth and took his jaw firmly in his grip to turn his head. His hips still thrust against his bottom as he shoved his tongue into that waiting mouth. His own explosion was eminent and Averey thrust his tongue roughly into Lucan's mouth, matching the rhythm of his hips. The hand that had just given Lucan pleasure now held his narrow hips in place as he dry humped against him. With a growl that originated deep in his loin Averey let loose his seed in forceful erratic thrusts.

"Gods Birdie," he said in breathy whispers as he slowly loosened his grip on the boy, his boy, though he did not release him, simply turn him around to face him. "You are the most lovely thing in this world Lucan Brecker and I'm so glad you have chosen me as yours."

Lucan could hear, but not see Averey licking up his seed. His breath continued to shudder, his body to tremble in the wake of his climax, still feeling awash with pleasure from head to toe. It was beyond him why Averey eating up his stuff was such an excitement, but he loved it, welcoming every good feeling and naughty fantasy.

He sucked in a quick breath of cool night air as Averey uncovered his mouth, but it was barely a moment before he was muzzled again, this time by Averey's own mouth, so warm and so aggressive, forcefully claiming him while that merciless hardness continued to grind into his welcoming backside. Lucan suckled at Averey's tongue, wishing he could be sucking at his prick instead, and moaned into his lover's mouth. Lucan knew Averey was about to release, and he felt ecstatic, almost as if he could spend again himself. Being trapped in Averey's unyielding, bearlike embrace, humped, rocked, jostled, being entirely used for his pleasure, was the greatest feeling in the world.

A rapid hammering of hips and tightening of breath signalled Averey's passionate conclusion, and Lucan grinned like an imbecile as his big bear turned him around and whispered beautiful words to him.

"You make me the happiest man in the world, Averey Inman," he panted, hanging limply in Averey's big, strong arms. He wound his own slender arms around his bear's thick neck and squeezed close to him, soaking up all the post-orgasmic heat he could gather. "Your sweetness made me fall in love with you, but your ferocity sets me afire! I love your great beastly body and your merciless kisses and your iron prick. I am so entirely yours, my bear--I would be pounced on and mauled by you at any time of day."

His mouth grabbed at Averey's again, hungrily, messily, licking and sucking at his delicious lips and tongue. He had never seen anyone kissing the way he and Averey were kissing, but it didn't matter. He and Averey were men, and would make their own rules for love.

"Give me... oh, I want...!" Lucan huffed against Averey's lips as one of his hands slid down and down, digging up under Averey's shirt and then snaking down inside his trousers to locate the hot, sticky mess he'd made there. Lucan got plenty of it all over his hand and then pulled it up to lick it off thoroughly, loving that salty, clean, raw pastry flavour and keeping his eyes locked on Averey's as he consumed his seed.

Averey let out a low rumbling growl as he watched Lucan consume his seed as if it were some sort of naughty icing from his fingertips. He guessed he looked much the same only moments before but the sight of Lucan repeating the act was so much more pleasing to his eye. He watched him wantonly, and just when his Birdie was done, Averey pulled him in for another kiss. His tongue plunged into his mouth forcefully, wanting to taste his own seed on the other man's lips.

Then Isabelle was calling his name, her voice a harsh whisper and still far off and Averey mumbled a curse under his breath. He had almost forgotten that they were there, Isabelle and Jacob, not 50 paces away on the other side of the fire. Reluctantly he extracted himself from Lucan's grasp and reached down to right his disheveled clothing before correcting his own appearance. He gave them both a once over, there was nothing they could do of the blissful look in their eyes or the flush in their cheeks but he imagined the other couple probably looked the same.

And he imagined correct. He had to hold his giggle at the sight of Isabelle's messed hair and the contented grin on Jacob's face. But he dare not ask of what brought their change in appearance for fear that they may wish to know the cause of his own.

"Next time we do this there shall be blankets," Isabelle said, still laying on her back in the grass propped up on her elbows. "And perhaps you two big strong men could put a fourth wall on that shake so Lucan and I not need risk our dignity in the open air."

Averey could not help laughing at that, knee slapping hard as he tucked Lucan under his arm. He looked to Jacob and the other man shrugged.

"I think we are more than capable," he said with a smirk. Perhaps he wasn't as dull as everyone thought.

Lucan felt much more relaxed than he had earlier. There was a feeling of camaraderie, a sense that the four of them shared a secret together. While he would still prefer to be alone with Averey, he didn't feel quite so opposed to the presence of Isabelle and Jacob any longer. It was hard to be upset about anything after such a glorious, explosive dalliance with Averey.

He was warm and comfortable and safe under Averey's arm, and had a gentle smile lingering on his face. He followed the conversation in good humour, and even piped up with a jape of his own.

"What, no one wants me to build a wall?" He grinned and flexed an entirely non-existent bicep.

"If the wall were to be made of well crafted pastries then you would be the first I call on Birdie," Averey teased as he roughed Lucan's hair a little, then drag his hand tenderly down his thinly muscled arm. "Til then what's say you put that away before some one gets hurt," he added with a chuckle before he gave the smaller man's romp a squeeze and laughed at his surprised whelp. They all did and it seemed the ice was broken between them.

The fire doused and all sated, the four traipsed back to the village full of good spirits. Isabelle teased Averey over the way he guided Lucan around fell trees and brush. "I nearly broke an arm once on one of our adventures and he barely batted an eye. You must be special Lucan for this indifferent lout to be so careful with you." Averey didn't want to ruin their good time reminding everyone of Lucan's clumsiness so he simply shrug his shoulders and grip him tighter.

That is until they came to the village proper and the made sure to keep a good distance between them as not to give any onlookers the wrong idea. Though they didn't reign in their good time. Jacob and Averey finished what was left of the ale as they made their way back to the Inn. And Isabelle stayed close to Lucan, not wanting the boy to feel left out.

"You really do have a lovely voice," she said in low tones as the approached the Inn. "I only wish I'd known sooner. I might have overlooked that contemptuous air of yours. Oh well, it is of no matter now. I'm sure we will have plenty of time to annoy each other from now until forever," she added with a smirk as she slipped her hand around his arm. "Or for however long I'll have the pleasure of your company."

No sooner than the four came in sight of the Inn did the elder Payne come stumbling out ranting at his son for leaving him alone. His words were intelligible as he barreled down the stairs and poor Jacob only shook his head. "Yes Da...I'm sorry Da I should know better...I know Da I'm 'posed to tell you when to stop," Jacob said as he followed his father, though he did turn to offer his friends a bow before his father caught him and gave him a cuff.

"May I fall on my sword if I ever embarrass you that way boy," Averey's father said from the stairs, pipe in hand as he offered the younger generation a nob.

"And I as well," said Isabelle's. "Though I'd have to borrow your sword Dyl," he added with a hearty chuckle.

"Ma would surely give you a wollop with her rolling pin before you sullied her good name Papa. I have no worries about that," Isabelle said as she mounted the stairs and threw her arms around her father's round belly. He kissed her forehead gently and smile down at her. "Is it time to go yet? I'm awful tired..."

"Says the girl who comes from the trees with three virile young men..."

"Papa," Isabelle said, her face beet red as she gave her father's belly a swat.

"I tease Izzy. I know you are a good girl but I also bore witness to you making eyes at the Payne boy...ah, ah, ah I saw it with my own two eyes girlie. I imagine I'll be marrying off another sometime soon."

With that the Millners bid them all a fond farewell and arrangements were made for Dylan and Henry to hunt with their boys for Respite. Averey was torn now. He wanted very much to be alone with Luc but he missed his father and had spent very little time with him. His father caught the hesitation and his jaw tightened ever so slightly around his pipe as Averey sat heavily on the step beneath him.

"Nice night huh Da," Averey said quietly, unable to hide the smirk that came to his lips when he thought of just how nice it had been. Dylan Gregory noticed that too.

"It will do son, it will do," he said with a pat to his shoulder. Cecily had hinted and he hadn't believed her but after witnessing their groups arrangement after they came out of the trees, before any of them thought they might be seen, he could not deny it any longer. With his own eyes he saw his son, his arm slung loosely around the Brecker boy, kiss the boy tenderly on the side of his face. He could have been angry, by all rights he should have been but not after seeing the smile on Averey's face. A smile not much on like the one he wore when he looked upon his mother.

Lucan had decided in the end that Isabelle Millner wasn't so bad after all. The evening was pleasant even if he didn't get to be alone with Averey. There was something liberating about being able to be openly affectionate with his lover around other people, people who accepted them for who they were, because he knew it was a small minority of people who would, particularly in their very traditional village. Lucan's wholesomeness-obsessed mother would be horrified by him traipsing off into the woods to have a little ale and fool around, even if he were with a girl.

He was troubled by Jacob's interaction with his father, being somewhat phobic of drunks to begin with, and hating to see anyone being mistreated, especially someone he'd begun to like. It put his relationship with his own father in perspective. As much damage as Ivor had done to his self-esteem growing up with his overinflated expectations, obvious disappointment, and often harsh words, Ivor at least didn't treat his boy with the level of cruelty the senior Payne was showing his son.

Lucan was thus far away, daydreaming, as Averey chatted with his father. He sat a bit apart from Averey to avoid showing too much chumminess, and truth be told, he was deeply intimidated by Averey's father. He had it in his head that truly terrible things could happen if a man of Dylan Gregory's stature were to find out what his son had been up to... things possibly even involving the local constabulary, or even clergy. He didn't want to get into trouble, and he certainly didn't want Averey to get into trouble.

He caught some of the discussion about spending Respite hunting, and felt his heart drop deep into his stomach. He bowed his head to avoid showing his disappointment, pulling up his knees close to his chest. He knew he couldn't expect to be prioritized over Averey's father, even if he had been led to expect a precious day alone with his lover. It was no one's fault, he told himself. Just bad timing. Circumstances. Still, he couldn't help feeling it as a deep tragedy. It occurred to him then that, in his heart of hearts, he genuinely believed that his relationship with Averey was tenuous and probably temporary. He was driven to throw himself into it wholeheartedly, to seize all the joy he could while he could get it, because, even though there was a small set of trusted persons who were at peace with their relationship, they were still doing something illicit, and it would inevitably be disastrous for them if word got out, or if they were caught at something. Every intimacy was a risk. Every moment with Averey was stolen time. And it was so good, so overwhelmingly perfectly good, that it couldn't possibly be forever. Could anything so sweet ever be for real, for always? His dreams of a blissful domestic life with Averey were a charming fantasy, and real life was never that kind; he was a silly, overly idealistic child to get his hopes up.

He found Averey's eyes finally and gave a tiny smile, hoping his sweet bear knew he'd understand if they couldn't spend tomorrow together. Lucan wondered idly if he could go along with them at least, to enjoy Averey's company even if they had to pretend dawn to dusk to be only friends, but he knew with his lack of coordination he'd probably only be a liability on a hunt.

The revelry over for the night, the last patrons of the Inn trickled out to the main road, scattering in the directions of their homes. Averey was polite, bid them all good evening, though his mind was consumed with thoughts of Luc and how the two would handle the events of Respite. He wanted to hunt with his father and Mr. Millner but would Luc want to tag along? And if he did, how difficult would it be to hide their affections now that they had solidified their want for each other? His mother came out and demanded their assistance in cleaning up, allowing him a distraction from the turmoil in his heart. She also offered a solution to his dilemma.

"I'll not be left alone to handle all preparations for Respite. Absolutely not Dylan Gregory," Cecily Inman ranted at Averey's father. "Your visit has not stopped the world from spinning. Bad enough I'll be stuck in that kitchen listening to Papa complain all afternoon."

"Lucan could stay with you Ma," Averey said with a small smile at his lover, hoping he didn't take the suggestion as a slight. But just in case he had, he furthered is comment. "He's learned so much already from the Goodwynes. I bet his pies and cakes will fetch a fair amount of coin paired with that punch you make."

"I doubt he'll want to stay and be ordered about when he can be out traipsing about the forest with your lot," Cecily said to Averey but her eyes were on Luc. "But I'll not make the decision for him. What say you little one? Care to help an old woman put on a proper Respite for this tiny Village?"

Lucan was quick to step in and help with the cleanup, being somewhat dependent on Cecily Inman's hospitality these days. When Averey suggested he stay with Cecily tomorrow, he returned the little smile, even though his heart was dropping even lower. There went the last hope of spending Respite with his Bear. He took a deep breath and squared his shoulders, knowing that Averey's suggestion was the right thing, even if he felt petulant about it. He'd have to be a man and do what was necessary, and what was kind. Besides, he genuinely liked Averey's mother, and it didn't seem fair that she should be the only person in town that didn't get any respite on a day designated for that purpose.

"Of course I'll stay and help!" he piped up, widening his smile as he turned to Cecily. "But I don't see any old women around here." His eyes sparkled.

"Well aren't you a sweet one," Cecily said as she moved quickly to Lucan and gave him a big kiss on the forehead. "It's settled then. You boys go have your fun, Lucan and I will stay back and make something delicious for you when you get back."

"Of that I am sure," Averey said with a long look at Lucan. A look both his parents caught. His mother blushed and his father gave a soft grunt.

Before long the tap room was all cleaned up and set for the next day. Dylan had gone off to bed, not before trying to get Cecily to come along which she adamantly declined. Papa had long since gone to bed, leaving Averey alone with his Birdie. He smiled at him from across the room as he lowered the heavy wooden beam that barred the door. With that secure he blew out the remaining candles and moved to take his hand.

"To bed my love," he said as he pulled him close. "We've a long day of Respite before us."

Lucan held his breath as Averey blew out the candles and approached him in the darkness that settled over the room that was usually so bright and filled with warm bodies, laughter, and revelry. He leaned into his Bear's embrace and inhaled his familiar masculine scent. His exhale came out in a shudder, his body shivered, and he gave up all strength in his limbs. He sighed next to Averey's ear and placed soft kisses on the tenderest places around his ear and neck as Averey naturally took him up and carried him to his bedroom, laying him down on the bed before wedging the door shut.

Lucan immediately squirmed his way out of his shirt and then urgently assisted Averey to peel his off, whereupon he pulled him into the bed and wrapped himself around the broadly-built young man, needing the warm press of skin on skin. He was exhausted after a long work day and a late evening, in desperate need of rest, especially considering he had another day of baking ahead of him, but the idea of losing hours of Averey in favour of sleep just seemed terribly unfair. It was all unfair. It was unfair had to love each other in secret. It was unfair they couldn't even hold hands in public. It was unfair they couldn't ever be married. It was unfair they had to be apart on their first Respite together, after Lucan had so looked forward to having his Bear to himself for a day. And Lucan knew it was unfair of him to be so mournful over what they couldn't have rather than being thankful for what they did. He didn't want to spoil this very moment by being sad, but nonetheless he began to shed tears as he nuzzled and tasted Averey's warm skin, leaving wet, salty trails that he tried to kiss away.

"My sweet love... I am sorry," Lucan whimpered, sniffling and squeezing him tightly around the middle. "I could never begrudge you a day with your father. I know it is probably silly of me, but... I can't shed this fear that every day might be our last. What if he suspects? What if people find out, Averey? I feel as if I could die! I need you like air. You're my breath and my blood and my whole heart. I never was alive before I loved you, and I never will be if I can't have you."

Averey held Lucan tight as he told him of his fears. Though they were warranted, Lucan had a habit of making mountains out of mole hills and this was one of those times. He could not fault him, especially when he found it to be one of his most endearing qualities, so Averey allowed him fret for a moment before he quieted him with a gentle kiss to his lips.

"It is but one day Birdie," Averey said quietly as he stroked his hands up and down Lucan's bare back, planting soft kisses on his neck and shoulder. "He may be a knight but my Da is far from the scary lot. At least when it concerns me and my well being. There are scores of illegitimate children sired by the Kings army up and down the countryside but I bet few are as well taken care of as I. And if they are I'll bet the inn that their fathers care very little of their daily lives. He may be disappointed of my choice in you but he would not disown me for it. That is not his way so you needn't worry of his reaction. I'll bet my Ma has warned him of such already. She keeps very little of my life from him," He said finally as he rolled over to face Lucan and wipe his tears. "You ruin such a handsome face with these," he added with a smile as he settled down beside him.

"That is no way to live Luc," Averey said after a time. "If you live for the moment you don't plan for the future. That's what Papa always says. That's why we keep our secret, not because I'm ashamed of loving you. If we were prepared to leave tomorrow I'd gladly bring you to the square at midday and kiss you as I do when we were alone, but we aren't prepared so the village must wait for such a grand gesture. I love you Lucan, with all my heart and soul, I love you and I'll not allow you to believe otherwise. Worry not about tomorrow's Respite, there will be countless others for you to lock me away and have your merry way with me."

Lucan finally cracked a tiny smile at the thought of having his merry way with Averey. He allowed his tears to be calmed and wriggled closer to him, kissing him with aching tenderness, several times over.

"I could not possibly doubt you love me," he whispered, letting his legs tangle into a warm, affectionate knot with Averey's. "I know it is why you make certain we plan and take things carefully. You're right to do so, I'm certain of it. I wish I weren't so fearful, my big brave Bear. I don't know why I must worry every good thing will be taken from me. You're right--we'll have plenty of Respites together. And someday we'll have our own little house somewhere. Our own private place. Our own life."

Lucan stroked the golden curls he loved so much as he stared into Averey's eyes. "I'll try to be stronger for you. For us."

He kissed Averey again, and pressed himself even closer, tucking his head beneath Averey's chin and nestling in snugly. "Your ma... you think she knows...?" he murmured against Averey's warm neck. "About us? What if... what if she asks me about it? I don't know what to say to her."

"I've not told her anything but I'm sure she assumes," Averey said with a chuckled as he drew slow circles on Lucan's back with his fingertips. "I simply meant that she knows that I prefer the company of men. She guessed as much not long ago, as did Isabelle, and they both promised not to love me any less for it. I can't promise the topic of us won't come up with you two alone but I would expect that she be less invasive than Izzy. I am her only son and she is concerned for my happiness. I would imagine she would have the same conversation with you she might have with a girl who showed interest in me. But still you worry too much Birdie. Tell her as much or as little as you wish, she would not think any less of you for it."

A long guttural yawn escaped him then and Averey laughed a little as he settled down beside his love. It had been an especially long and intense day, only now did his mind register his body's exhaustion. He barely mumbled a good night before his heavy eyes shut for the night. And it wasn't long before his snoring began, but still there was a distinct grin on his face even as he slept.

Lucan breathed deeply, allowing his muscles to relax, letting himself sink deeper into the mattress. Tucked in safely against Averey's warm body, breathing in his masculine scent, and with the assurance that everything would be okay, it didn't take him long to drowse away to sweet dreams.

***********************

He was surprised to wake early--the sun wasn't up, no rooster had crowed, no one was yet puttering in the kitchen, but there was a faint grey light filtering in through the curtains that suggested dawn was not far off.

When Lucan shifted his body slightly, he discovered what must have woken him at such an unusually early hour. Something very, very hard was prodding at his rear end. He smiled sleepily. As much as he usually hated waking up in the morning, today he was glad to be up so prematurely. He knew the hunters would want to get an early start, and getting an earlier-than-early start meant Lucan would have a little time with his Bear before they had to part.

Lucan wasted no time. He turned his body around so that he faced the still slumbering Averey's fearsome bulge directly. He placed his mouth gently against it and exhaled, sending a spreading warmth across his lover's nethers. Then he peeled back his trousers and released the beast, sighing happily at its heat, size, and hardness. He gripped it in both hands, inhaled the strong scent, and shivered before opening wide and taking the dripping head past his lips. He suckled eagerly, forcefully, loving the thought of waking his Bear this way. His own prick was also prodigiously stiff, trapped inside his own bottoms, but he scarcely gave it any heed. The salty, manly taste of Averey was everything he wanted right now.

He could have sworn he was dreaming. The warm, wet suction that surrounded his manhood but when he open his eyes and the feeling didn't subside he counted himself the luckiest man in all the realm. Averey didn't speak as his hand searched down beneath the bed linens for his redheaded minx. But he could not help the groan that rumbled out from his chest as he felt those soft lips at the base of his cock. He found himself wrapping that hair in his fist, his hips thrusting up ever so slightly to press further into that warm mouth.

"I would not fret if you woke me like this every morning Birdie," he mumbled as his eyes drifted open and closed. He clenched his jaw to stifle the yelp that came as he felt Lucan begin to bob up and down on his manhood. "There is no lovelier place than what is behind those lips my love...Gods you know how to make a man feel so special...so beautiful...I will explode before too long," he said in a harsh whisper as he continued to thrust against Lucan's mouth. But now he had both hands in his hair and his hips came off the bed with power as his body moved closer to climax.

Lucan's name became a constant on his lips, the only coherent word he spoke, so consumed with the pleasure he received. He could barely whimper out a warning before he pushed Lucan's head down, forcing his tip to the back of his throat before he delivered his seed. There was blood in his mouth from biting his lip to keep his mouth closed through his arrival.

"I had not thought it could be better than that first time," Averey gasped as he let loose his hold on Lucan's head and quickly pulled him up to lay on his chest. In tongue was in his mouth instantly, forcefully working its way around. And he moaned at the taste of himself on his beloveds lips.

Lucan could only agree that there was no lovelier place than this--with his lips wrapped around Averey's manhood and his lover grabbing his hair in eager, desperate handfuls. He hummed and moaned against the thick rod of delicious flesh that filled his mouth and invaded his throat. His excitement rose as Averey gave himself over to the feeling, beginning to thrust his hips in earnest and helplessly fuck Lucan's willing mouth. Lucan was in ecstasy, a more-than-willing vessel for his big bear's big prick. He swallowed down every sweet whispered word and every drop of delicious nectar.

Lucan could only moan softly as Averey pulled him onto his chest and plundered his mouth with his hungry tongue. Averey's words and affections made Lucan feel weak and trembly and warm all over, and it was the best feeling in the world. He supposed this was what it felt like to be smitten.

"My ravenous Bear must be indulged as often as possible," he breathed, combing his fingers through Averey's curls. "I do so love to care for my Bear, and make him ever happier. Is he hungry? Shall I feed my big beast?"

Lucan shuffled up Averey's body and pulled his cock and balls out of his trousers, slapping the comparatively small yet very hard finger of flesh onto Averey's lips. "Look, it drools already in anticipation of you, my love."

Averey could do nothing but growl at Lucan's deliciously naughty words and salacious action. A far cry from the shy boy he was in the presence of other's Averey loved the wanton libertine his Birdie became when they were alone. He could barely contain himself when he felt that adorable little cock slap against his lips as Lucan settled on his chest.

He did not remain there long, as Averey had other plans and set them quickly into motion. With strong arms around his thighs, Averey sat up, flipping Lucan onto his back. He eyed him hungrily as he yanked his trousers away with a grunt and tossed them aside. He wasted no time with soft kisses and gentle caresses, Averey was well beyond the point of tenderness and took Lucan completely into his mouth in one solid gulp as he lowered the smaller man's legs over his shoulders. He sucked hard at the velvety shaft all the while bobbing his head furiously. Without looking, he reached up to push his fingers in Lucan's mouth to muffle his screams while his other held firm to his backside. The flavors of his man filled his senses and Averey felt his hardness return as he kneaded Lucan's fleshy hindquarters. Averey remembered something from the night before, how Lucan seemed to enjoy his pounding against his rump.

Perhaps another time, he thought as he pulled off a bit to run his tongue along the very tip of Lucan's angry red prick. It truly was a lovely thing, all shiny and covered in his spit. He pressed his tongue against the slit before he lathed it around the rim of his mushroom cap and then took him very quickly down to his base and held. All he wanted was to make Lucan feel as handsome and desired and loved as he deserved but he could not speak the words at the moment lost in this primal state of pleasure. If he could not tell him then Averey would try his best to make him feel it.

Lucan's eyes widened greedily as Averey flipped him back and stripped him. He was instantly breathless, entirely possessed with desire and delight at the rough and forceful way his Big Bear tossed him around and took over his body when he was in an especially keen state.

"AH--!" he yelped involuntarily at the hot, hungry mouth around his hard prick, totally enveloping him, before Averey jammed several fingers into his mouth. He nearly choked but instead slurped happily on his lover's fingers, and let them muffle his cries, loving even his own noises when they were muffled by his Bear.

Lucan wriggled and writhed with overwhelming joy and desire as Averey sucked forcefully on him and kneaded his backside with his one free hand. Those strong smithy's hands were magic on him, and he found himself thrusting clumsily, alternately pressing his rear into Averey's hand and his prick into that hot, hungry mouth.

He watched in lustful fascination as Averey took the time to appreciate his hard little cockstand, licking the tip and all around it, bringing stifled squeals from Lucan's throat before he engulfed him again. Lucan's head fell back helplessly. How could anything feel so good? How could there be such happiness in the world? He felt as if he was dying, and it was beautiful. He'd die a thousand times beneath Averey's ravenous lips and tongue. He wanted to scream out his lover's name, and to scream all sorts of affirmatives and profanities, but only gurgling nonsense made it past the saliva-slick fingers that still filled Lucan's mouth. He growled deep in his throat as his climax rose up from deep in his loins, and he thought he saw a million stars as he thrust his hips upward, hard, and shot what felt like oceans of spend down Averey's willing throat. Love, pure love washed over him, waves and waves of it. Lust, certainly, but the deepest and most beautiful love. Never had he thought anyone could desire him this way, hunger for him so carnally, so deeply. Pouring his pleasure down Averey's throat was the most perfect feeling, and he gave himself over completely to the big, handsome bear of a man, his toes curling and heels pounding away against Averey's back, his fists clenching and unclenching rapidly, desperately, unable to bear the force of his release.

Averey opened his eyes at the first shot of Lucan's loving nectar down his throat, intent on watching climax wash over him. It was an amazing spectacle and Averey dare not miss it. With his mouth clamped down around his lover's prick, Averey held Lucan tight about his slender hips to keep him from bucking them both off the bed. He was glad that he could put him in such a state. And when he was finally spent, Averey held the last bit of his essence as he pulled his fingers from his mouth and pushed his tongue in their stead to share with Lucan the flavor he loved so much.

He took a moment to glance at the brightening sky and mumbled a curse. After such a passionate wake up, Averey was loathe to leave Lucan, his skin flush and glistening with sweat after their latest tryst but he knew he could not decline his father's invitation. It would not be long before the big man was in the kitchen gathering up supplies. But until then Averey gave his mouth back to his Birdie as his big hands explored his tender flesh. His still slick fingers found their way to the cleft of his rear as he nibbled at Lucan's bottom lip. Tentatively he gave the soft wrinkled button a gentle push, not to intrude, simply testing the waters. He'd heard from a passing sailor of men pleasuring each other in this way and at first he thought it odd, but now he had visions of himself buried deep inside his love. Just last night he dreamed of Lucan laying bare in the grass, legs spread wide, begging to be impaled by his manhood.

"Take me my big bear," he'd said with a lusty gaze. "My everything is for your pleasure."

There was no time now, but Averey planned to test this theory when he returned from the hunt. There was movement above him and he knew this to mean his father was about.

A small frown came to his lips as he looked upon his Birdie. "Alas my love I must prepare for the hunt," he said and then kissed him softly about his face. "But when I return we will have our Respite my Birdie so save us one of your delectable treats to share at our place beneath the willow tree."

He dressed quickly before he could change his mind about leaving Lucan and offered a small smile. Then thought better of it and gave him a tender kiss on the forehead. "I love you my Birdie."

Lucan touched and petted his lover as much as he could as they kissed passionately in the wake of their amorous activities. There was no better way to start a day, and Lucan felt contented even though he was about to say goodbye to his Bear for the best part of Respite. There was a deep, warm satisfaction in his heart and in his loins.

As Averey spoke of meeting later beneath the willow, Lucan's mouth spread into a wide grin, his cheeks flushing all over again. "I'll be excited all day waiting to go there with you, my love! I'll save the best treats for my hungry Bear."

After pulling on all his clothes, he accepted the little kiss from Averey, and grasped his hands for a few moments. "I love you too," he whispered. "Dreadfully much. Be safe out there on your hunt, my big strong man, and come home to me soon."

Averey knew his mother was still sleeping, since she wasn't allowed a true Respite she allowed herself to sleep in a few extra hours past sunrise. He and his father would be on their own for breakfast, but Averey didn't mind and set about gathering a few loaves of day old bread and sausage. He also grabbed a jug of Papa's fermented cider to share with the Millner men. Before long Dylan Gregory made his appearance in full hunting regalia. Riding leathers and calf high boots, a vest fitted with various knives and a quiver full of arrows the crossbow in the sack on his shoulder. He offered Averey a grunt, though he smiled at his only son as he sat at the table.

"Mornin' Da," Averey said with a wide grin, excited about the prospect of spending the day with his father. "Ma's probably hiding in her room so we're on our own to break fast. There's some sausage left from last night, a wedge of hard cheese, and some of that date bread Ma stashed away for you."

"Well aren't you full of words," Dylan said and reached to pat his son on the back as he took the chair beside him. Far from the surly boy he'd seen on his last visit. Averey was nearly a foot taller and a build to match. His face had lost all it's baby fat and now his jaw was as angled as own. There was even the beginning of a beard and Dylan hoped that Averey would allow his to grow as opposed to being clean shaven as was the village norm. He fought the urge to ask of Averey's lifted spirits, not yet willing to hear it but he took comfort in knowing that there was something in this world that put light in those eyes. "I've brought gifts for you boy," he said after they'd finished their meal and hefted a sack onto the table. "No son of mine will become a man without proper tools."

Averey heard the distinct sound of metal against would as the contents of the sack settled to the table. He looked at his father then down at the bag and back to his Da who nodded for him to open it. This was nothing new Dylan had always brought trinkets for his favorite child but it was usually books and wooden toys. Whatever lay in the sack was much larger than that and Averey couldn't guess what it might be. Though he had hopes.

He stood to unwind the cord that held the sack closed and whistled at what his eyes beheld. A short sword, the hilt a twin to his father's though the initial engraved in the closed guard read "AI" instead of the "DG" that decorated his father's. The ornamental lettering was the same as was the exquisite leather scabbard and belt. There was also a crossbow, though smaller than his father's Averey could tell that it was just as well built, perhaps by the King's own weaponsmith, and a scabbarded hunting knife. "Tis why I came so early. I left as soon as these were delivered to me not 4 days ago. I could not wait to see that look you wear now."

"Da these are...I can't..."

"Oh stop it boy," Dylan said as he threw his arm around his son, pulling him into a big bear hug. "You're a good boy and you deserve to be rewarded for it. The last I visited you were so good with my wooden sword that I thought you might want one of your own. It's a man's duty to equip his son with the tools of manhood. Think nothing of it, now come let us go be men in the woods. When we return I have one last gift for you."

Averey couldn't imagine what else his father had brought for him but he didn't spend much time on it, too excited to get some use out of his new cache of weapons. He did have the presence of mind to check "proper sword" off the list of things he and Lucan would need to make their escape. He could not hold his grin as he stepped out of the Inn with his new sward strapped to his waist and his crossbow hanging from his shoulder. The quiver of arrows he slung across his back for the walk to the Millners, but they were already coming up the road in their horse drawn cart. Averey was surprised to see Jacob Payne sitting very uncomfortably beside Henry Millner. The younger Millner twins, Thomas and David, sat laughing in the back and Averey offered them all a nod.

"Off with you boy," Henry said to Jacob with a hard nudge that sent him tumbling off the side making the Millner boys laugh harder. Even Dylan gave a chuckle but Averey did will to catch the boy before he hit ground.

"Boy am I glad to see you," Jacob said, his face drawn before he leaned in and whispered. "I'd thought they were taking me out to do me harm."

"We'd not waste the horses for that," Thomas said with a smirk, though he gave Jacob a hand up into the cart and David pulled Averey aboard. "Any man who wishes to court a Millner girl best be able to take care of her..."

"Millner girls like their meat so you best be able to bring it home," David said and Thomas rolled his eyes.

"I was getting to that Davie..."

"Not fast enough Thom..."

Before long they were tumbling around in the back of the cart and Henry pulled hard on the reigns and sent them both crashing into the sidewall. "Save it for the hunt boys!"

"Yes Da."

"At least if they're fighting each other they'll leave you be," Averey whispered to Jacob with a smirk making the boy laugh a little. "Besides your older and bigger..."

"And no longer outnumbered," Jacob whispered with a wide grin.

Although Lucan was fully dressed, he crawled back into Averey's bed and got comfortable again after his lover had gone out into the kitchen. There wouldn't be much for him to do with Cecily still abed, so he took advantage of the opportunity for a little extra rest. He was also able to eavesdrop a little on the conversation, though he didn't catch much. Mostly he focused on the familiar, comforting scent of Averey as he pressed his face into the bedding and inhaled every trace of him he could find.

Lucan hadn't realized he'd fallen asleep, but he awoke later to the noise of Averey's mother clattering about in the kitchen. He quickly leaped out of bed, adjusted his belt, and hurried out to join her.

"Well, look who's finally decided to join the land of the living!" Cecily called out teasingly.

"I'm sorry, ma'am--I'm sorry!" he babbled, trying futilely to smooth down his wild red hair. "My ma always said I could sleep through a war. You ought to have knocked... though sometimes I need a good kick!"

"Oh, leave off with your sorries as well as your ma'ams," she laughed, ruffling his disheveled hair and then pressing a kiss to the top of his head. "A young man sweet enough to give up his Respite to endure a day in the kitchen with the likes of me deserves at least a good lie in. Have yourself some breakfast now--we've got lots to do!"

Lucan gratefully took the plate she'd left for him and filled up on breakfast before getting down to food prep. He spent much of his morning helping Cecily chop ingredients for a great big vat of stew that would feed the masses, but his real happiness was working with pastry. Cecily didn't do a lot of pies in her kitchen, and Lucan assembled a great many, both savoury and sweet, and showed her a few tricks along the way, while she showed him plenty in return.

While Lucan had been a bit nervous of spending the day with Averey's mother, it turned out his worries were entirely unfounded. While she gave him plenty of thoughtful looks, she did not pry or even hint at anything for most of the day. She was a joy to be around and treated him as if he were her own boy. Lucan felt as if he were enjoying the sort of bond he had cherished with his own mother when he had been a little boy long before things had soured between them, the bond he had always wished he could have back.

Together they assembled a veritable feast, and in a shorter time than they had even hoped. Lucan hadn't made things quite as elegant as he would at the patisserie, but when he had some extra time, he played around with a lump of marzipan that was leftover from some almond pastries he'd made earlier. He sculpted an array of miniature fruits and flowers, which he'd coloured with berry juices, and used them to decorate some cakes, which caused Cecily to exclaim wildly over his talent. He also made some little marzipan animals, giving special attention to a collection of little birds and one sweet-looking bear. These he set aside for later. He meant to be discreet, but Cecily noticed him putting them aside, and gave a knowing smile.

"You're fond of my Averey," she said directly, out of the blue. Noticing Lucan blush, she laughed and gave him a little squeeze. "Don't be embarrassed now, boy. Anyone who isn't fond of him is a fool, I would think. But I suppose I'm not exactly an impartial judge."

Lucan's cheeks continued to burn, but he managed a tiny smile. "You raised a fine boy. A very fine... man. I'm sure he owes you a lot. He's not like any other man in this village, that's for certain."

"Well, that's sweet, Luc, but I'm not sure how much he owes me. Some days I've felt like he's been the one raising me!" She smirked and touched his cheek affectionately before turning back to cleaning dishes. "The strange thing, you know, about having a child, is it doesn't make you suddenly feel like a parent. I wonder how much of your sweetness you can owe to your own mother and father."

This silenced Lucan for a while. What, really, could he owe his parents for who he was, except for the ways he had tried deliberately not to be like them?

Thinking of his parents reminded him that he was supposed to be having an ale with his father tonight. He felt strange and apprehensive about this, and hoped Averey would return home by the time the inn opened to patrons, so that he might make an escape. His ears were sharply attuned to noises outside, hoping to catch the approach of a returning cart.

With the five of them, it took only half the day to satisfy their primal need to hunt. They'd even captured a boar, thanks to Lucan and Jacob who seemed to make a better pair than even they expected. Though he only hand a bow, Jacob wounded the beast on the run and Averey made quick work with a killing blow as the beast slowed it's escape. That deed alone won over the Millners but when Henry overheard the young man listing the things he would make his daughter as gifts it warmed his heart, but he kept it to himself. There were a few rabbits as well, the cart full, Dylan and Henry performed a fictitious ceremony inducting all the boys into the fraternal order of manhood. Averey had wished Lucan might be here for this though he understood the whole ordeal of smearing scat on their faces as a joke that father's play on their boy children. He wondered if at some point Ivor would ever have the good sense to perform the ritual on his son but he knew it was not his place to even suggest it.

The men road into the village triumphant, and went directly to the tanners to skin their hunt. Dylan and Henry left the boys to it and headed to the Inn to build a fire large enough to roast all the meat. Papa helped, supervised and pointed out where the younger men had gone wrong in their design but by the time the boys returned with the kills they had the fire going well enough and Papa Inman saw no reason to delay the preparations of charred meats. Averey rushed inside on the pretense of delivering the innards to his Ma for her sausage but Dylan knew his boy was going in search of his friend but he kept that knowledge to himself. None but Jacob even noticed Averey had gone off but he too understood well his departure. He wished to make an escape himself but he knew better than to leave before the work was done.

Inside, Averey called out for his Ma and Luc, though it was Luc's name he called the loudest.
