The Beast's Castle...

Well, today has been a day.

Had to go to the office for a bit, on the way home an asshole runs a red light and nearly T-Bones me. Luckily I was able to swerve out of the way in time. Lucky for him I was paying attention!

Fuck me...

My head hurts.

Hi HB! Its been awhile but I popped on specifically because I knew you could answer my question or provide a source.

Ive wondered about the tomb that everyone walks around in the middle of Westminster Abbey so I was reading about England's Unknown Warrior tomb over the weekend and it mentioned several other countries having their own Unknown tombs. You could have knocked me over with a feather. I just thought it was a quirk of Americans, then I find out the Brits have one and that leads me to France..Belgium and.... So does Canada have one, too?

Yes, they do and I know this because I’ve taken pictures of it for HB!

He’s going to be SO happy you asked this and to answer in much more detail 😊

Yes, Canada does have a ceremonial tomb for an unknown Canadian soldier.

He is an unknown soldier taken from a cemetery in the Vimy Ridge area (the battle considered THE nation building event, in the conflict -WW1- that is considered Canada's ordeal by fire), therefore yes he could be a fallen HERO (and I do not make that claim lightly) from the Battle of Vimy Ridge, 1917.

This is the headstone of the now empty grave in France:

This is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National War Memorial in Ottawa:

Unfortuitously the site in Ottawa was beset by tragedy in 2014. What could be called an active shooter seemingly motivated by religious extremism shot and killed the honour guard at the memorial.

*contemplating on a morning swim* I'm afraid I won't come up from the water soon enough to make it to work, though...

*lies nude by the pool under a cabana, my delicate celtic complexion BURNS like a mofo...

But today is Sunday and time for morning dip!

Drops her clothes on a chair and walks into the pool, relishing in how the water feels against the skin...
