The Audio Poetry Thread

Thought it'd be great to have a thread for audio poetry only

Apologies in advance, Chris, because this might not be the right place - it's not me or mine, heck, it's not even poetry (although I might argue with that) but here are some words by Kurt Vonnegut courtesy of The Resident.

Border Crossing

The Horse

(the latter two poems are both recordings of poems done in the 30/30 thread)

You know of all the ways I would have pictured.... well in the auditory sense of pictured.... your voice the one I heard was nowhere close to what i would have pictured. I have always maintained that you can not infer tone or tenor from text, which is part of the reason why I try not to assume people are mad or yelling in text. Your voice and vocal demeanor proves that for me. Personally I have always pictured you more intense way of speaking. Louder and more rough hewn. You seem to be none of those things.

I have to admit now that I don't listen to the audio poetry huh? Well I am not so much of a "go to readings" type of girl. I have had some decent opportunities to hear authors and poets (some favorites of mine, some of great stature/popularity) but have never really gone to them because I can't follow that well with the verbal thingy.

That being said, I listened to The Horse a couple of times and it was nice. Do you have it written somewhere as well? I really get more from reading

The Horse

I used to keep a horse
on top of my wardrobe
when I was little,
a big black colt crouched
next to my trike.

I'd feed it leftovers
smuggled from underneath
the dinner table, covering
its oversized mouth as it ate
to make sure father never heard.

It would sleep on top of an old
tent covered with a blanket,
watching me with amber
coloured eyes as I fell asleep.
Some nights I swear it would

disappear, the sound of hooves
ringing in the back of my ears,
followed by the sight of a rider
I had never seen before.

And in the morning,
there would be cuts on my skin,
clothing ripped in places,
exposing a brand slowly
revealing itself.

I love the concept of audio poetry. Since you post - I will critique yours. There is reading, but no character, no emotion that gives me a sense of the words or the poem or you (love the accent, though). Listen and read mine ... there is a sense of character, satire/parody and emotion to my "Commercialization of the Penis"

Thanks Chris. I like it. Reading included. Sort of wistful. Innocent.
