This is a poetry public service announcement::

We all love getting feedback on our poems but please remember to check the first post in a challenge thread to see if it's a poems only thread or the thread starter welcomes comments as well as poems in the thread.

If a thread says poems only, post your feedback and comments, etc., in the General Commentary Thread.

Thanks! 🌹🌹🌹

I feel I should apologise for breaking this rule, but half the fun around here is derailing threads for no good reason.

Eh it's fine. People forget and I (or one of the other mods) move posts. And believe me in 20+ years here I have derailed plenty of threads, usually with inane bullshit, dumb jokes and so on. But we both know threads can totally lose their purpose, buried in banter. So if someone asks me to make sure their thread is just for poems, I try. It's a losing battle but I try. 🤷‍♀️

I get the "No critiquing, please" desire, but kicking all feedback elsewhere can make threads seem a little sterile.

Our haiku thread over in AH is fun because it's sometimes subtext for stuff going on elsewhere in the forums, and quite often it's a conversation conducted in exchanges of haiku. And sometimes the poetry is good too.

open invitation to all members of the AH forum :devilish:

what poem would those who have never visited this forum write in a few days or a week?

no worries about scoring, anonymous comments...

would it be a form or free verse? erotic?....

You should probably start a new thread with a title like "New from AH? Fancy a bit o' rhyme?"

There was an AHer called ~A
Who never knew quite what to say
But give her a stick
Or something to lick
And her mouth would be mumbling away...
