Good grief..ghosted again by a guy who seemed totally genuine for SIX MONTHS - a lifetime in Lit chats.

When you and that person are so close, you talk on the PHONE multiple times a week, talk incessantly about when we can get together, when you know all about my life, and I, yours and my freaking FB suggests you as a friend...um, that's pretty close for Lit standards.

And then....POOF - gone. Done, I guess. My messages left unanswered for weeks, I'm too sad to attempt a phone call and have it go straight to voice mail.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Having been through that it's a maddening experience. That connection you built feels trampled on. Just know that there are people rooting for you.

Someone who can do this certainly doesn't deserve you, but that hardly lessens the pain. I know how I'd feel if something like this happened to me. Even of he was caught out by someone he was hiding the relationship from, maybe unbeknowns to you, that certainly doesn't excuse a total failure to at least say goodbye, even if only a text. If it was all getting too intense for him, all he needed to do was confront that with you.

Being ghosted here is just as common as guys (and women) being catfished. I don't understand why. I do understand this place is a realm of fantasy sprinkled with a dash of reality. Having fun here shouldn't be limited to sex but we all know that's the main reason so many people log on.

Personally, I would rather develop a deeper connection... a friendship if you will, than to enjoy the sexual side of things. Still, one cannot deny that sex is a beautiful thing and if it develops here, can be just as powerful as what you would enjoy in real life.

So very true! To know what their interests are. What they enjoy in their spare time. What makes the person who they are. That's what makes her special.

I think the intensity of both friendship and sex here can be greater than IRL in some ways. That could be because of the challenges often faced in finding time and privacy for people with complicated or unpredictable lives, maybe living in different time zones. Being so dependent on language in the first place to get a relationship started also has the potential to intensify emotion and sexual excitement.

I would agree with that sentiment as well. The challenges of an online relationship between two people helps build the anticipation. Knowing that because of real life things change. Their (and your) schedules can constantly be in flux based on the needs of people in their life. But knowing that they're there with you through all of life's ups and downs is magical.
