Both.

BDSM and non-consent are really two very different things. BDSM involves two consenting adults complementing each other's sexual desires. Whereas many regular couples are drawn to people with similar personality traits and sexual tastes, BDSM involves opposites attracting with explosive results. He is the ying to her yang and vice versa. I see no non-consent in that image, though I accept that's my subjective viewpoint. There is to me a calmness and acceptance in her pose and the guy appears equally self controlled. If he was forcing her (or portraying force since they're clearly models) there would be tension and panic in the woman.

Though I SRP a lot of non-consent and enjoy doing so, it's not something I would ever want to experience in real life. Non-consent as a fetish is more about the fantasy of being taken by force by a lover than an actual desire to be raped against one's will. People do engage in rapeplay, where such scenes are acted out but that involves planning, agreement of limits and a lot of trust. It's also only ever as convincing as the roleplayers can make it.

I think people can misjudge BDSM lifestylers and assume that because there is often pain, there must be reluctance. Those with submissive and/or masochistic urges are bound because they get a sexual thrill out of restraint and helplessness, not because they are reluctant and would otherwise run away. BDSM takes a huge amount of trust, arguably far more so than when playing sexually with a regular or 'vanilla' lover. The bond that results from that trust being given and honoured within the sub/maso's tolerances and limits is incredibly intense and for those who are lucky enough to experience it, addictive.

It's that bond I see in that picture. The man's desire to take and use complemented in equal measure by the woman's desire to yield and please. That bond is what makes it an evocative image to me. The woman is utterly at his mercy, dependent on him for her next breath, trusting him absolutely.

Tonight I am going to do something a little different. tonight the next person who posts with a new theme for the gallery we'll have that as the new theme.
 
Had a try years ago at making character images for SRP or stories I was in. These pair were twins cast down from heaven for incest. In a backstory stolen from Ladyhawke they shared one body which switched from one to the other each time they slept, meaning they could never be together again. They still communicated via video messages and letters etc.

:( That didn't go so well.

So I guess I'll choose a new theme again on my own.

The new theme is PRIMAL.
