Read this question, come up with an answer and then scroll down to the bottom for the result. This is not a trick question.

It is as it reads. No one I know has got it right.

A woman, while at the funeral of her own mother, met a man she didn't know. She thought this guy was amazing, so much her dream guy, that she believed him to be just that! She fell in love with him right there, but never asked for his number and couldn't find him. A few days later she killed her sister.

Question: What is her motive in killing her sister? (Give this some thought
before you answer).

SCROLL DOWN.

SCROLL DOWN.

Answer: She was hoping that the guy would appear at the funeral again. If you answered this correctly, you think like a psychopath. This was a test by a famous American Psychologist used to test if one has the same mentality as a killer .

Many arrested serial killers took part in the test and answered the question correctly. If you didn't answer the question correctly good for you.

i found this on another board..thing is..i got it right  but honestly i think the premise that if you get it right you're a psycho is BS. i just tried to think logically-any other explanation besides the right one calls for too much speculation. i thought about it for maybe two or three mins..i read the question four times to make sure i understood it-and came up with the only answer that made sense to me. i honestly dont think that makes me a psycho..but who knows?

interested to see if anyone else gets it right.

true or not, i still find it interesting what ppls answers are. i havent met many ppl who get it "right".

Actually, if you read the snopes article, the real "right" answer is something along these lines:

snopes said:
A psychopath might think to murder her sister after their mother's death, but the motivation would more likely be one of inheritance. "Why settle for half an estate when only one person stands between me and all of it?" would be a more prevalent line of thought.

But, in the spirit of playing along, the very first time I received this question as a forward in my email somewhere around 2-3 years ago, I guessed incorrectly (according to the original author of the bogus material). :D

no..thats snopes' idea of what the right answer is. at any rate its just one of those internet "tests" that exist for amusement. dont take everything so seriously.

Yeah, gee, I'm just psychopathic that way. ;) :D

i was just curious if more ppl here would get it 'right' than elsewhere...i posted it on my own board and everyone got it "wrong" but me. i realize no one test can tell if someones a psycho, i've just always been a sucker for psychological "tests" that tell you this or that. and yes i do take them with a pound of salt.

If only sociopaths could think like sociopaths, they'd never catch a single serial killer. Leaving aside the origin of the test, maybe getting it "right" indicates that you could be an FBI Profiler.

For what it's worth, I didn't get the answer right. So there's no way I could be a sociopath, right? I'm sure that makes you all feel better. ;)

haha we did that in psych class for fun...I got it right

Nope, way off. But you bet I'm going to try this out everywhere I go.

I got it completely wrong.

I was thinking that the guy was at the funeral to emotionally support her sister who she isn't close to, thus not knowing who this man is and not being able to find him. She resents her sister for having something that she herself can't have and the rage slowly builds up in her until she breaks. She finds her sister and tries to get her to tell who the man is but the sister is uncooperative so in a fit of rage she kills the sister.

Now, if she is so unstable and dwelling so far outside of reality as to kill her sister over something as small as meeting a guy one time you have to consider the circumstances of the mothers death.

Why did this girl kill her own mother?

see now thats interesting...so you assumed that the girl killed her own mother?

That's what I thought the point of the exercise was...why do we assume the girl really killed her sister? I thought we were the psychopaths, not her. *smack forehead*

It's obvious from the killing of her own sister that this girl is very unstable and is willing to kill. She had to get to this point of mental instability somehow and as her father is never mentioned I'll assume that he died of natural causes in the past.

I think that she was the child that was always abused by her father while the other sister was the one who was rewarded and given everything she wanted in life. Over time this twisted her mind and it went on until her father aged and died, leaving her free of his abuse in whatever form it took place. Given her instant and unfathomable attraction to this totally unknown male at the funeral and her obsession with him I think the abuse was physical and sexual. Once her father was gone her own personality tried to assert itself but the mother probably blamed this poor girl for the fathers death. After all, if it weren't for this particular daughter her husband wouldn't have been led astray by her beauty and he wouldn't have molested her which led to his feelings of self loathing and guilt. If it weren't for that he wouldn't have needed to drown himself in the alcohol that eventually killed him. It stands to reason that the mother blamed the daughter for the downfall, humiliation and death of her husband who could do no wrong in her eyes. The daughter could not fend for herself in the world and was stuck at home with a mother that despised her. All of this happening while her inner self was trying to heal so she felt smothered and her fight or flight panic reactions were triggered and she felt that for her to survive her mother had to die. She justified the killing with the memory of her mother never coming to her aid as a little girl while her own father was abusing her. It would have then been easy to kill the sister as she also probably knew what was going on but she was bought off by the father by the kindness she was shown as the reciprocal of the abuse the other daughter was given. This sister was led to believe that she was somehow better. Since the abused sister was lost in a storm of conflicting emotion and unable to come to terms as to why her sister was spared the life of horror that she herself was given the sister had to die. In her view killing the mother and sister was something like opening the doors that were keeping her in her mental prison and the two acts of murder actually set her free from her past. It erased the negative things in her life and allowed her to move on and heal.

Of course the court system wouldn't see it that way and she would only be destined to life out the rest of her life in a state run mental hospital for the criminally insane. In the end she only went from one tormentor and broken support system to another. Because of her fathers sickness three lives were destroyed and she ended up reliving another version of the abuse of her childhood for the rest of her life.

Poor girl.

:D

i think this question is the verbal equivalent of the Rorsarch (countdown til someone comes in to tell me i spelled it wrong-cant be arsed looking it up). Its not the question so much as what comes into ppls minds as the reason this girl would kill her sister

I don't have a nice explanation for my answer like Betticus did. I got the question wrong. I answered "because she killed her mother". Because she killed her sister I though maybe she has something against her family, so she killed her mother and then continued down the line to her sister. Made sence to me.

About a girl, I sing a song
Singing Rickety Tickety Tin
About a girl I sing a song
Who didn't have her family long
Not only did she do them wrong!
She did everyone of them in.

Her mother she could never stand
Singing Rickety Tickety Tin
Her mother she could never stand
And so a cyanide soup she planned
The mother died with the spoon in her hand
And her face in a hideous grin.

skips verse about how she killed her dad and brother

She set her sisters hair on fire
Singing Rickety Tickety Tin
She set her sisters hair on fire
And as the flames rose how higher and higher
She dance around the funeral pyer
Playing the violin

skips verse about how she killed her baby brother

And when at last the police came by
Singing Rickety Tickety Tin
When at last the police came by
Her little pranks she could not deny
Because to do so she would have to lie!
And lying she knew was a sin.

Maybe that's why I thought she killed her sister! I remember reading that a while back!!!

I was thinking she killed her sister 'cause he was her sisters new b/f or something and she would get to see him again. does that make me a psychopath?

I had no idea why she killed her sister. I thought there might be some bogus non-explained backstory like the guy was her long lost stepdad or something.
