Megan was surprised at how easy lunch was. She had expected to be much more nervous, to find talking to the client much more difficult. Instead, she was relaxed, friendly, and even charming. She got on great with Bob, and she could tell from the slight smile that Jack was pleased.
They walked together back to the office, and Megan marveled at how well this whole project was going so far. It wasn't far into it, certainly, but the beginning was important to making sure the whole thing went smoothly, and this beginning was certainly auspicious.
Once they made it back upstairs, Megan headed to her desk to do some more work - what she was working on this afternoon was the sort of thing that was best done individually. She promised to stop by Jack's office around 5:30 to talk over a little more time-line stuff, and to make sure that her work today was off to the right start.
She got plenty done. She was a little slower than she might have liked, but that was the nature of being new to this sort of work. She simply accepted that it meant she might have to stick around for an hour later than she had originally planned. The office started to empty out around 5pm, and Megan headed to the break room to get herself a coffee just after the rush, in preparation for her meeting with Jack. On a whim, she poured two cups and stuck some creamers and sugars into her pocket, then headed over to Jack's office with her folder under her arm.
"Hey, I brought some coffee, but I wasn't sure how you take it, so..." She smiled sheepishly at him, setting the cups down on his desk, and producing the creamers and sugar. Then she set the folder down on the table and flipped it open. "It'll be another late night tonight. I might have to order in some dinner." She flashed another smile at him. "Any good delivery places around her you could recommend?"
