Whats it say about the 45% who can't read it then? Do they actually have lower brain function because they must piece together each of the letters to form the words?

i knew this though.
They teach you in school about each letter and the sounds they make together in pronouncing the word. But! The brain memorizes words. This is why when you come upon a word you rarely read, you do not know what it means not can pronounce it easily the first time.

Everytime this comes up, I always read it before I remember it gave me a headache last time!

And yes, 55% is low. I think on the other permutations of this paragraph that I've seen the numbers were closer to 90%.
