I don't think anywhere that's experiencing record-breaking droughts should participate, at the very least.
c'mon, y'all can't think of anything actually constructive to do to help the cause? this is the best idea they could come up with? really???

don't get me wrong, i'm not opposed to a good, old-fashioned wet-t-shirt contest, I just don't think the ice bucket challenge really accomplishes anything. why not volunteer time at an actual fundraiser. or---here's a crazy thought---send them a donation?

The ice bucket challenge has increased donations by about a factor of five, Hopefully these increased dolllars will lead to a cure.
Some people need a fad to give, its society in the wholes major flaw, the sheepskin effect.
But the results are positive, and als is a horrible disease, locked inside your own body unable to communicate, terrifying.
But we should do it in tru lit style, wet t shirts and crotches

i don't have a problem with fundraisers, but there are farmers in California who can't water their crops because of the drought.
It's a fun idea, but not practical for millions of people.

To date, the ice bucket challenge has raised 79.7 million dollars. It's on their web site. This charity would normally hit maybe 10 million a year if they were lucky. So, yeah, people ARE doing a challenge AND giving donations as well. It's not a waste of time. I have several FB friends who have done this challenge, gave money, set their challenges and for each person who completed the challenge they again matched the donation.

Im not saying its a waste of time. Im saying its not the best use of time (which certainly isnt a crime), but more importantly, that its a waste of water.
I just wish they'd picked something else, thats all.
