The Ah

what is an authors hang out?

I don't know, but as I think Rumple pointed out, Lit's AH is (at least grammatically) the hangout of only a single author. I think that the rest of us must be mere scribblers. The question now is: who is that author?

I think it must be CV.

Well, the activity called "hanging out" means, you know- shooting the breeze, swigging a beer, lying about the fish that got away, comparing navels, writing your name in the snow...
Hanging out are all the peripheral activities that recarge and refresh you, at best- or, at the worst, disguise the fact that you're getting nowhere fast.

I write- a lot. I write in word, offline. Online, I exchange manuscripts, submit them, and obsess over my scores and feedback. Often, I'll join a conversation that's about writing, but- flirting with all the sexy wonderful people here have helped me find direction for stories, or recharged my creative juices, or simply led me to a stroke story that might blow my mind. All of that- that's hanging out.

You keep wanting people to talk about writing sex, and talk about writing erotica- Charley, it's all around you here! We hardly talk about anything else!

May I suggest, dear Charley, that if you want people to be specific in their responses to your questions, you offer examples of your own? If you want to know how different people handle the subject of cunnilingus, for example, you give a paragraph of your own writing, or maybe lift something you've read that you were impressed with. When you just spit out one question, it leaves all the hangers-outers at something of a loss as to what you are asking... Like a teacher at the blackboard, with chalk poised. It's not condusive to conversation.
