The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

The tomatoes are getting frosty this morning but at least I won't be driving in any rain today.

I've got a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot. There are the promised cupcakes and muffins on the counter so everyone can see for themselves the difference between cupcakes and muffins.

I'll be over in the corner getting back to work on my story. I haven't written anything since I left so it may take a while to get back into the groove ...

Welcome back. I hope the trip recharged you so you can really go at it with your muse. Did it rain for your drive back, too?

So I had my second opinion on my knee. He wants to consult with his partner, but he is looking at two possible surgeries. Most likely is a partial replacement. Six months of pretty heavy rehab work after that (if it happens). But maybe I can do things by next summer. Very excited

Was going to send hugs to you, too, but you are so excited. So imma send hugs and a happy dance! 🫂💃👯‍♀️💃

Follow on -- Hopefully, I can now settle down to do some writing again. The last three days not so much. I need to get cracking if I am going to finish everything I have mapped out.

At least I got to read a draft of a marvelous entry for the winter holidays contest over the last two days. It's my early front runner for a prize this time. (The odds of any story, even a very good one, winning is low, but three will win prizes. And I think this one is good enough to merit serious consideration.)

Brought in tomatoes, cucumbers and (ripe) jalapenos.

I'm up to 10 or 11 cucumbers in the fridge, so we're distributing them to friends and family. There are still three or four on the vines, but not a lot of new ones setting on. If the weather holds long enough we might even get another melon. The broccolini isn't cold-sensitive, so I expect I'll be harvesting that for a while.

There are a ton of paste tomatoes on the vine. I can bring in what's still on the plant when a frost threatens and it's all likely to ripen indoors.

I'll commandeer the oven to dry the jalapenos I have on hand. Could happen this weekend.

I've been watching so many documentaries and movies that are in Korean that I just took a nap and woke up thinking in Korean. My ship seems to be sailing past "research" and into "obsession."
If you want a (more) complete picture of the contemporary Korean culture, I recommend that you also perform a thorough investigation into their national sport ;)

Total weirdness! I went and reviewed my works today and under Works Activity I found this cryptic message:

I haven't deleted anything... I think Laurel is sending me some kind of a message.

LAUREL! IF YOU NEED HELP, BLINK THREE TIMES!
If a comment falls in a story, but there is no one there to read it, does it still count as feedback?

I received a comment on one of my stories yesterday but at least my story was still there. It's cloudy this morning and there's frost on the windshield but not as bad as yesterday. I saw a plot bunny shivering in the cold but I didn't make the mistake of letting it in where it's warm (I made that mistake once, never again).

I've got a pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is warming up. There are donuts and cookies on the counter. Apparently, there's no difference between muffins and cupcakes because they both disappeared immediately.

I'll be over in the corner getting reacquainted with my story so I can finish it up. Just got three scenes left to do and I'll be able to set it aside and start on my next story.

Having given the muffin vs cupcake discussion some thought, I've concluded that the difference is this: I'll put butter on a muffin, but not on a cupcake.

Which is a way of saying a cupcake can be (is to be) enjoyed without a moistening condiment, while most muffins of my experience require something like butter. Icing on cupcakes is just a bonus, a proper cupcake is moist (and yummy, and yet something else on my no-no list these days 😞 ).

Simply put, muffins are bread, cupcakes are cake. Cue the Marie Antoinette line.
