The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

In appreciation of @Candy_Kane54 having taken up the provision of comestibles for this place, I'd like to propose a sign be fastened to her chosen writing space: Candy Kane Corner. All in favour, please signify by raising your mugs.
I second the motion, and would like to remind the Honourable Members who are giggling over names of members, we have an important vote on the table.

Speaking for the motion, I submit that Candy Kane has selflessly undertaken the management role our dear departed colleague, TxRad, fulfilled. While her writing may not be moving along as she would like, no one could argue that her exceptional diligence to the provision of hot beverages and baked goods warrants such an award.

we do seem to have a rash of Dr. appt's in here., Me, I rarely have a week without one...so I'm part of the problem.

yes, Candy seems to stay on point. I bow in that direction.

I likewise raise my mug. Apologies that I'm rarely here these days.

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the compliments. All I wanted to do was honor @TxRad and keep the AH Coffee Shop going.

We're supposed to get a lot of rain overnight tonight so I'm sure I'll be waking up to listen to see that the sump pump is still working so I'll be a wreak tomorrow morning.

Anyway, I've got a fresh pot of coffee going to fill all of your raised mugs. The teapot is hot for those who want to use the fine china and stick their pinkie finger out. There are donuts and danish on the counter to nosh on.

I managed to get a few paragraphs down on paper yesterday. I'm going to try to get then next scene done before I see another doctor (two weeks) so I can feel like I accomplished something. I'll be over in the corner admiring my new sign and trying to scratch out a few words.

Commiserations. In South West and Central Queensland Australia we have a flood about the size of Texas. My immediate neighbour has 90% of her Beef property (70,000 hectares) under water. The Stock losses will be enormous and the cost of feeding the survivors will be horrendous. Cross fingers that our usual desert conditions will soon return.

Hmmm... I watered the lawn today. Send some of that water our way in Florida. I live in a heavily wooded area and those pine trees will explode like a bomb in a wildfire.

Queensland sure has copped a belting recently. And way down south we've had the driest spring & summer for yonks.

Yonk from Wictionary:

1. A slang term used in UK, Australia, and New Zealand to describe a longer time than expected. It is a unit of time known to be exactly 3 months and 13 days.

2. A resident of a particular suburb of NYC

Well, we survived another night of storms and tornadoes, having a couple of touchdowns but nothing near us.

There's a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot. There are scones and crumpets on the counter for those who want something to snack on.

I'll be over in the corner trying to get more words down on paper. I managed another couple of paragraphs yesterday so if I keep this pace up, I'll have a story done by Christmas.

I was surprised by how much "energy" it still had after it crossed to our side of the creek. We had tornado sirens here keeping us on edge, but the damage was well north of us in an area we were familiar with.

I wrote the opening of my story and froze. There are a couple rough stretches where I tried to cram in too many details, but the main problem is that the transition to the next scene doesn't work. That doesn't bode well for my progress on the rest of the story.

Hello, my lovelies... well, we have rain but not in disastrous amounts. I did awake to a tornado warning, telling me to get to cover, but the sky, at least in my direct area, doesn't look alarming. One benefit of my scattered living has been that I have seen/experienced most forms of violent weather...(neve been in an actual hurricane. don't feel any need to be either.) Of course, I'm no meteorologist, only took one class in the discipline in college...and the only truly lasting effect of that class (save for the memory of a truly gorgeous study partner whose boyfriend liked me about as much as MY girlfriend liked her *PLOT BUNNY ALERT*) was that I don't get bad when weathermen get something wrong because I have at least a summary knowledge of how bloody difficult it is to predict the weather.

I've seen tornadoes, up close even, and this sky doesn't give me the impression that one is anywhere near.

Candy, even a few words is worth celebrating. remember, we are engaged in one of the last remaining true arts of human creation. Even our smallest efforts are beyond the ken of many.

Good morning! and welcome to National Cordon Bleu Day! Let the celebration begin!
I'll kick it off by starting a pot of tea.

@Duleigh - thanks for heating up the teapot. I made myself a cup of Earl Grey to combat the cold dampness of the morning.

The coffee pot is hot and full and the teapot is hot thanks to @Duleigh . There are donuts on the counter along with some double fudge brownies I made.

I'll be over in the corner working on my story. I made some more progress yesterday and hope to keep it up today. Of course I'll be distracted by thoughts of Cordon Bleu (Chicken, pork, or veal) so I don't know how much I'll get done today.

I made a little progress on mine. At least I got into the second scene.

Zelda is challenging to write, and that's a challenge that keeps me interested. She's depressed and engaging in dangerous and sensual behavior to "make the pain go away." I'll probably have to rewrite every line of her dialog to get the right tone.

Waded through all the airplanes, caught up on the weather and some of the doctor issues. So, I'll add one.

Got a letter in the mail from my cardiologist. Retiring, soon.

Damn. now to find another. Letter says stop by the office and get your records and a referral. Well, shit. That's an aggravation. It took all damn day to see a followup kidney doc and now this news. My feet are like balloons the last three days and I was about to call for an appointment on Moanday. Maybe there is still time to get a new water pill update.

My last three cardiologists retired, so I looked for a younger one, thinking he'd be around till I was gone. So, living long means you have to have picked a kid in diapers to keep him/her for a lifetime. :coffee::giggle::whistle:
