The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Good afternoon everyone.
I figured that I'd stop in before I head off to my doctor's appointment and see how everyone is doing.
I'll throw on a fresh pot of coffee and fill the kettle with fresh water, but I don't have donuts or even Resse's, sorry.
I hope that everyone has had a good start to the work week.

I'm sorry to hear that, Millie. I'm hoping to recover enough to get into work tomorrow. In the mean time my wife has been understanding about things not getting done
 
I was fine on Saturday and just took a dive late yesterday afternoon.

Just popped in to get a fresh pot of coffee going and make sure the teapot is hot.. I made a peanut butter cheesecake and it is on the counter.

I managed to do a little writing and research for my story. I just wish the side effects of my completed radiation treatment would go away. It's weird that it took over a year to make itself felt. I do hope it fades away soon.

What are the symptoms?
 
Just chilling at a corner table, drinking a rum and coke. Yes, I brought the rum in myself, but I'm in that mood. I'll give a quick head knod to anyone that makes eye contact, but I'm not really needful of any acknowledgement right now. Just looking for a place where I know my presence is not unwanted.

I'm trying to hold out to 9:00 before I go to bed. That's an hour later that last night.
 
also, in a Dokaryan inspired experiment, I filled a jar with amish green apple candies and rum this morning. I expect if I give it about a week I might have something interesting to taste test!
 
The dogs' first walk is between 3 and 4 a.m., and we haven't seen a fox for months. At midnight, all the village streetlights are turned off except along the High Street, so I wear a headlamp. Fox eyes usually reflect bronze, distinguishing them from cats, whose eyes reflect blue or green. A few minutes ago, I saw a pair of blue/green eyes in the distance along the footpath back to High Street between the council housing and the United Reformed Church. I thought it was a cat, but this time, it was curious and stayed close while we walked by. They usually run away before I get close enough to see anything other than the eyes. This time, it was a small fox.

The Canada geese left a couple of weeks ago. Their appearance at Christmas and New Year's Day was unusual. They've arrived in March for the past four or five years.
 
I've got a new pot of coffee brewing and refreshed the teapot. I got ambitious last night and made some apple pie muffins so those are on the counter if you want to have something to snack on.

I got some more words on paper and I'm getting a better idea where my story is going. I just hope my struggles to write are not obvious in the finished story. I'll be over in the other corner trying to get some more written today. We're finally getting some sunny days and temps above 40 F so the snow cover is in retreat. After the rain Friday, I hope it is gone.

Just a burning sensation around where the radiation was focused. My cancer numbers are still going down and I was assured by my doctor that it wasn't uncommon to have that issue from time to time. It's just annoying more than anything else.

Yeah, I'd very much like a sticky bun! One of the small blessings, my docs want me to gain weight so I can eat almost anything. (I'm actually back at about 185 lbs., after weighing 153 in the final stages of my first six month long round of chemotherapy.) Prior to the dramatic weight loss, I had averaged between 200 and 215 since the mid 1990's. Glad to be back where I am, I felt like a skeleton at 153.
 
No sticky buns here. Have you ever tried cleaning that goop out of the keyboard?

Somebody pass the plate of CK's muffins, however...
