The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

I've been drinking tea lately, I'm the one who left the empty tea pot sitting on @MediocreAuthor's laptop. (She's never around, she'll never figure out where that ring came from)

Baklava! I love Baklava! Quick! Somebody tell me it's Keto!

Rustyoznail (Napping): zzzzz hmm? Keto mnbl mnbl zzzzzzzzzz

I knew it! *chows down* I can't figure out why this diet doesn't work for me, I only eat what people say is keto.
Thanks a lot, grampa! ( ರ╭╮ರ )

You know I can't take this laptop to the shop because I'm afraid they might hack in and read all my erotica.

Today's errands are getting a long-overdue haircut (damn hippie!) and stopping by the hospital for a blood draw. Nothing specific going on, other than the stern look I got from the doctor on Monday, "I think we need to check your A1C again. You've been borderline for at least three years."

Damn.

Hey HP - There were rumors of dragon sightings over there but I'm on the other side of the continent.
I'm with you in hoping that all our writers and readers are safe

(Da dum, da dum
Da dum da dum da dum da dum da dum daaah dummmm
Diddly dum dum...)

I've got a fresh pot of coffee brewing for those who need some to get going. The teapot is hot for those who want a cuppa. There are cookies on the counter and the grill is hot if anyone wants to cook up their breakfast. The fixings for breakfast are next t the grill. Today we also have biscuits (dry flour) and gravy (wet flour) to go with your eggs.

I'm going to try to get some writing done today. I didn't get any done yesterday but I am determined to do some today so I'll be over in the corner banging my head on the keyboard ...
Thanks for the coffee. :) Now, a face of guilt. I loved your 'electronic paper' term so much that I stole it for a new story I'm working on. I feel better getting that off my mind! :coffee:

We writers tend to borrow other people's thoughts. Even when we credit the author we are considered wise for our word choice. In my valentines story I quoted Garrison Keillor (and credited him) when my MMC said "When we grow old we realize that there are no answers... only stories."

My readers think I'm wise! :)

I've been thinking about getting a haircut and beard trim... thinking about it for the last three years. Whenever I look in the mirror, I look like the old grey-haired caveman staring back at me.

The nurse snipped a few hairs so my new hearing aids fit better.

Maybe I should get her to take me out for a do-over. I'd like to go out to eat again. It's been a while since I've been to a place to eat inside. Then, the flu season is supposed to be going around. Maybe I should mask up again.

Started a few words on a new story. A fella I communicated with on Lit suggested I do a life story. Yeah, it's time to leave something that might be discovered one day and give them a clue about an old guy spending his time watching ducks glide over the lake out the patio window. Putting knarled fingers to 'electronic paper' as a lit writer coined the term.

As usual, the coffee goes down very well; thanks.
We got very cold and we had fog until an hour or so ago.
Bright sunshine at present.
Good Luck to the citizens of LA.

I haven't quite finished my first cup yet. The coffee is getting cold, so it's about time to get up from the computer, feed the fish, bring in the paper and open the curtains to let the rising sun come in. Then I can make my second cup.

I don't have many uninterrupted nights of sleep. The ones I get don't usually leave me feeling extra-rested.

No problem. I didn't copywrite it so you're good.

I just started a new pot of coffee and warmed up the teapot so enjoy.

I've been looking at vacuum coffee makers. They look so scientific!
I looked one up and they're cool, SteamPunk coffee! I watched the video on how they work and I completely understand the science behind it, kind of like a bi-directional percolator. What I do not understand is 10 minutes for a cup of coffee? If I want to wait that long I'll go stand in line at the local Starbucks. There you at least get the entertainment of watching a Gen Z Barista having a complete meltdown when handed a $20 for a $4.67 cup of coffee and now has to make change.

That's for a full pot of coffee. Most of the time, I use a coffee press. That gives me two and a half cups of coffee. But it is hard to keep the coffee not in the cup warm. I pour it into a thermos, but it's all a little fussy. Which, of course, has often been said of me.

That's why I drink tea in the afternoon. If it cools off just throw in a few cubes of ice and some lemon juice.

Oh, they're so cool when they go whoosh! and suck the water through the grounds.

My folks tried them when I was a young lad. One other fun thing (to a 7-year-old, at least) was watching the pot implode and the resulting parental excitement. I think they went through three before giving up.

Speaking of coffee, today was our periodic Costco run, which is pretty much an all-day affair due to the distance from home. I usually pick up two containers of "my usual" brand at a huge discount over the local supermarket, like I did today. Got home, unpacked everything, and discovered I had only one container. Looked at the receipt, and... yep... only one on the ticket. WTF? Best guess is when I parked the (overflowing and heavy!) cart to fetch another item a few steps down an aisle, some lazy SOB grabbed one off the cart instead of making the hike back to the coffee aisle. Not that it cost me anything, thank goodness, but it means that the next long drive to replenish might be forced sooner rather than later.

Oh... a sort of funny at the store. Costco will "feature" a handful of vendors cluttering the main aisles selling things like cell service or home improvement items. A telco rep accosted us, we told them who we had for cell service (a discounted subsidiary of the company she rep'ed) and she then wanted to press us about internet service. I told her outright that "[your company] offers crap in our area," and of course she challenged me on it, "What's your ZIP?" So I responded, and she entered it onto her iPad. Her chagrined response was "Oh. Have a nice day!" C and I were amused.
