The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

No, it's the lead-up to my Christmas story... why else would I have death and mayhem, people being burned alive and torn apart? (seriously, it is the lead up)
Bring on Black Christmas, complete with the Midnight Mass of the Church of the Anti-Christ and all those lovely virgins to disembowel.

You were right Millie! I was totally, utterly wrong, and I apologize. There was actually a note, after all that editing the gross stuff out, I found the note. I used the expression "Innocent as a six-year-old" and guess what they thought. I apologize again.

Oh well, two clicks and the gross stuff is back in! I love Microsoft Word, it's my favorite computer game!
I was what? Oh, my word, I was right? Say it in bold and italic, shout it to the room, Millie was RIGHT! ;) this is, as my daddy says, rare as hen's teeth.

Oops!

I have been doing some research on my maternal family tree. I have found a Victorian sailor, fortunately not a direct ancestor but a brother of my ancestor.

I have seen his naval record of service. At the time, almost all sailors would have been recorded as 'good', with a few as 'very good'. But not him. The full five-point scale was Bad, Indifferent, Fair, Good and Very Good.

He enlisted for ten years starting as a boy - 'indifferent'; a basic sailor - 'bad - released to civil authorities for 30 days jail'. Returned to the Navy, indifferent followed by bad and two more sessions of 30 days jail. He became an able-seaman [WHY?] - bad, indifferent, bad. At the end of his ten years you can almost hear the recording clerk's relief - 'bad' again and discharged at end of service and for six months civil jail. In between the civil jails he spent nearly a year in naval prisons.

I am pleased he is NOT a direct ancestor.

I'll make the lunch time coffee.

The ladies are shopping so I have no idea what will be for my lunch or even if I'll get lunch.

Two boats were picked up this morning and paid for. One got loaded in the back of a pickup. The other guy decided he wanted a trailer at the last minute. Uh, it takes a little more than a minute, more like an hour or so to get one ready. He's happy, I'm happy, more cash in the pocket.

You know you're a lesbian when you didn't notice the camera or the dude until they were pointed out. What a Ye Old treasure chest!
If you haven't been to a Rennfaire you should go, what a display of riches! From the ladies in waiting flaunting Ye Olde Royal Treasure Chest to Mme. Pirate flaunting the pirate's bootie the show is primarily the costume. I am waiting for the Rennfaire crowd to catch up with the historic truth that bare breasts were actually popular for the ladies in the renaissance period
🤤

I thought the nude day comp went already? That could be something for next year though.

Omg they were not! Or if it's true I am not going in (or out of) costume.lol.

I'm in my hotel room...leaving to attend in about an hour.

I found this in Wikipedia so it's got to be true, right?
In many European societies between the Renaissance and the 19th century, wearing low-cut dresses that exposed breasts was more acceptable than it is in the early 21st century; bared female legs, ankles and shoulders were considered to be more risqué than exposed breasts. In aristocratic and upper-class circles, the display of breasts was at times regarded as a status symbol; a sign of beauty, wealth and social position. The bared breast invoked associations with nude sculptures of classical Greece that influenced the art, sculpture and architecture of the period

I like the custom, I think it's quaint. 🤤

Well then, based on that I am going to let my top down when I am there.

Ohhhj wait....it said women of wealth ..
That is not me. I should keep my breasts in so no one mistakes me for being rich.

We got some really cool wind blowin'.
Winter approaches, I fear.

Following the recent clean-up, I have (at last), managed to locate the kettle & Teapot, so I'm gonna make a brew.
Anyone care to join in ?

I'm preparing for an approaching wind myself. Generator tests start tomorrow as Ian heads my way.

Nice decorations. How about the Halloween ones? See the spiders have a head start up in the corner windows. Not far off you know?

Black, no cream, ... no sugar ... just the usual.

Company would be good about now. Sounds like the right crowd is present.

Checked stats today. The Lit sweeps are in play again. Lost 38 votes total stories. One, 'Johnny Diamond is a Solitary Man' lost 33 votes alone! Those loving wives folks must have been on a 'terror' rant over there. Guess it's the lack of good coffee. I'd offer to carry over a carafe even a few packs of sugar if they'd get their act together. No wonder the 'vote police' won't let them leave their precinct!

Thanks, Tx. Glad to see the site continues.

I asked the AH Mod to close #8 for being over 5k and guess what... With the new software there may or may not be a 5k limit any longer. Time will tell, I guess but I do like to clean the place out ever so often.

The evening coffee is ready, willing, and able to keep you wide eyed and bushy tailed.

As far as bare breasts are concerned, I'm all for them. The ladies in my household are also all for them so... Any place they won't arrest a guy for going topless, you ladies have the same rights. So let the girls out every chance you get. :)
:rose::p

Thanks for thwe coffee, Tex! Yowza, I go away for a few days and when I come back there's a new coffee shop, but I found the coffee okay and I have my refill, and now I'm back to fully caffeinated and zipping along on a new story after finally watching "Michael Collins" which is a movie I've been meaning to watch for a long long time. There were no bare breasts in the movie.
