I'm pushing 76 so why am I having hot flashes? Would a fire extinguisher work if I burst into flames?

A comfortable place ... with good people is really all one can ask for toward the appoaching endpoint in time.

I crossed 76 years ago and could still feel the flames then ... not so much these days.

The 'want to' and 'will to' that are a live now; the flames are now ambers, and I'm basking in watching them smolder clinging to the last few flickers. Just put the fire extinguisher away...let the the flashes take charge for now. Extinguishing them now would be regrettable later, you will find out much to your chagrin.

Enjoy the heat while it's present. You'll need a blanket in the future to remind yourself of those lusty 'old 76' days. Besides, spontaneous combustion happens much to quickly for a fire extinguisher to help out!

Yes, all three lead to heat but of a different kind.

dm, I'm a nudist but I wear an old bathrobe most of the time because the temp that is comfortable for the ladies is cool to me. Laying out in the sun is much more warming than a blanket. Sleeping between two warm ladies keeps me warm even on the coldest nights. I always have the feeling that I will reach 85. After that, I am unsure. Thanks for the insight.

My summer is officially over. I shut down, drained, and sealed the swamp cooler. The gladiolas aren't convinced. I'll have one more cut flower before they're done. I also have about three pounds of jalapenos to pickle, and enough green chile to justify the work of putting them up.

I purchased a 'seedling' pepper plant at a nearby plant nursery/seller in early Spring. It was labelled as 'red pepper'. It puts out peppers similar to the Tabasco but much, much smaller, maybe only about 1.5" long.

The plant has turned into a small tree (shape). About four ft high, the 'trunks' are about 18" of the total height. They are HOT, hotter than a jalapeno according to grandson. I have been (carefully) picking them once they are red and passing them on to friends that I know like hot peppers. We won't grow that one again.

That sounds like what I'd do. I like spicy, but I have limits. Some of the green chile I have from this year is going to need blending with last years and/or some recipe changes, 'cuz it's a little too hot. Next year I'll skip at least one of the varieties I grew this year.

I have three jalapeno plants, and the peppers from each are different: one produces pods that are fat and mild; one produces pods that don't get real big, but they're a little hotter; the third produces what I think of as "good" jalapenos for both size and heat.

Meds? Just a tho't since you've recently mentioned a pill regimen.

Since starting the pill stuff last fall I've been feeling body changes that don't qualify as "side effects" but are nonetheless things that have developed in the intervening months. My sweating patterns have changed, for instance, and I have little tolerance for strenuous activity in heat above 80°F or so. I suspect the blood thinner, but that is the med I don't screw with.

90% of my pills are for cholesterol and diabetes. The rest are vitamins and such. I've taken the same basic regiment of pills for several years. I remember having hot flashes from before I started an antidepressant. I took it for a couple of months but have discontinued it. I think it suppressed the hot flashes. I don't take anything for high blood pressure as mine usually runs on the low side.

The antidepressant didn't seem to do anything but give me the runs and some other side effects I didn't like. A conference call to my doctor and she took me off them.

Oh... speaking of "nudist", today was our last day in the sun for the season. At this very moment, C is packing most of our stuff so we can take home what can't withstand freezing in our storage shed. Resort closes next weekend, but we avoid the hard partying that comes with the Halloween-theme festivities. Cabin is available to us off-season, but the long drive to/from just to hang out someplace where it snows at inopportune times is not our idea of fun or relaxation.

C's BF#2 blew off his date with her today after a week of back-and-forth, to which she texted back "See you in May." If he doesn't get the message he f'ed up again, we're writing him off.

That de-pends. First time authors can take a little longer but probably three days. Sometimes Laurel takes Sunday off so no more than four on average.

It's Sinday morning.

I am sitting in my usual swivel chair reading the news on my tablet computer and enjoying my second mug of coffee.

My wife came out of our bedroom. She first went to the kitchen to fix her coffee (brewed strong, so she fills a third of the tall mug with 2% milk). Carrying her coffee, she came into the living room and sat in her swivel chair next to mine. She looked with an early morning pre-coffee tiredness at the blanket, pillows, box of tissues, Hitachi wand, and small tub of coconut oil left on the living room floor from last night's fun.

"Just leave that out and get ready. I'll be horny later," she casually said, and she took her first sip from the mug before picking up her tablet computer to play Mahjong.

I sighed, thinking 'What a life.'

Supper was catch what you can. I caught one naked lady in the shower and the other one in her recliner. I love those chairs. So many interesting things can happen in one.
