The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room #6

Come on in. Take a seat up here at the counter or at a table out in the middle of the room or back in the corner, whichever suits you best.

We serve coffee but remember this ain't Starbucks. It only comes in black. What you do with it after that is you're own problem.

If you play nice, the waitresses (If I ever get any) might spice it for you.

If you have a new story you're proud of, post a link. Post a link even if you're not proud of it. It'll give everyone something to talk about.

No fighting and no trolling. I'd hate to have the AH Mod toss your ass out of here. Flirting will be tolerated to a point and then you can rent a room out back if you need to carry thing farther.

Thank you and welcome aboard.

Between the disinfectant and the fire hose, this place should be clean enough to be Covid free.

Nice place, TxRad - l really like the way you’ve redecorated. ;)

Failed the electrical inspection. The county wants us to replace all of the old wiring in the kitchen because it was run (62 years ago) without a ground.

I should have the plan and estimate early tomorrow morning.

It is nice, isnt it, and yes, there's what I was looking for, that little trapdoor hiding the safe where he keeps the mind-warping, psychedelic midnight coffee that takes you through sobriety and out the far side faster than a bowl of figs through a short granny; imbibers celebrate and beware!

What's the going rate for a room?

Cheops Law: Nothing is ever done on time or within budget.

Good luck.

Your electrician should have picked up on that when he redid the main panel. If you remodel any other parts of the house, you will have to replace that wiring also. No ground is very dangerous.

It's all according to how big a hurry you're in and who you're hurrying with. ;)

If you close one eye, you will find out that there are two midnight coffee pots. One is marked drunks and the other is marked regular. ;)

Okay everyone, I'm glad you approve of the new place. I'll even make the first pot of coffee. Kind of like throwing out the first pitch or the first drunk as the case may be.

On another note, the cabinet on the right hand end of the counter is restocked with a little hair of the dog but Laurel still hasn't approved my licker, uh, liquor licenses yet so keep it out of sight.

Place looks great Tx! Stopping by to say hi and glad to hear that all’s well.

Stopping by for a cuppa from the drunks pot. It’s gotta be midnight somewhere; it will go with my (brown bag) pisco sour.

I’ll be back by. Keep the liquor in the front. I’m starting a game of poker tonight in the rear.

We haven't done the work on the panel yet, but I think everyone knew that there was no ground wire in the old wiring. It was just a question of whether the inspector would require the old wiring to be brought up to code. Apparently the county inspectors aren't very consistent.

Nice place, Tex, but I ain't too sure about the pink colour in places; (of course, that may be my old eyes playing games wi' me brain).
I sincerely hope you ain't lost the kettle and the Tea pot.

It's to be admitt4ed that an Earth (ground) is an important safety feature, of itself it is NOT dangerous to not have one (unsafe if not the same as dangerous). This relies on good working kit and a 'balanced' supply.

What sort of dog, please ?

But it is late and I feel the need for a brew.

HP, the kettle and tea pot are right where they always are. The kettle got a good scrubbing but the tea pot didn't lose it's seasoning, shall we say.

Vix, as long as it's not dominoes, all is good. ;)

I'm enjoying the remodel.

Can I put my "Reserved" sign back onto the table in the corner? That's where I usually sit and write, and watch the comings and goings around here...

Notwise, you need to get Tx's tradies on your job. I go to bed, and when I get up the place has been completely renovated. I like the subtle changes, and I'm sure Lori will appreciate the hitching rail for her vampire numbats...

My babies are over there in the corner feasting on incautious guard-wallabies and quaffing the Coffee of Madness aka Nescafé; they have no taste, and very few taste-buds, but they do try to join in the spirit of the thing, poor dears; the alternative is eating incautious coffee drinkers...
(for the uninitiated, quaffing is like drinking, you just throw it at your face a little harder...)

The evening coffee is ready to be, uh, quaffed, if that is your preference.

Uh, Lori, exactly how do you clean up Numbat shit? I know a long handled rake is involved from the smell of things.

Rusty, who are these, uh, tradies you speak of. I did everything myself. I wouldn't allow just anyone in here with a fire hose.

Long handled rake and a billy-club, the stuff fights back, it's worse than the drains in Baghdad...

Tradespeople. Or contractors for you lot. Just gentle education in Aussie lingo.

Well Tx, you've done a bang up job by yourself.

***edit***

Oh, and don't worry Lori. My wallabies are fine. They're pretty smart. Not like those really dumb Eastern Grey Roo's...

I watched an episode of 'How Do They Do It?' this evening on Discovery, it was about making MotoGP riding leathers from kangaroo skin; at last, them and their stupid expressions, they're finally good for something...

That's a cruel thing to say about MotoGP riders ;).
