Indecent tea outside a clothing-optional setting:

I grew up in Southern California, LaLa Land, of Midwestern forebears. Our tea was cold, thinly black, and sweet. Hot tea from bags was something we read about in stories of New York automats where broke customers spent cold nights nursing teabags, hot water, and free sugar cubes.

Then I found myself incarcerated in Toronto. Coffee was not served with meals. It was something they called 'tea', milked and sugared and thick as porridge. That was indecent tea. No wonder Canada was a minor power.

But I now like a raw Japanese tea called Genmai-Cha which is best with soy sauce. Most of y'all would find that pretty indecent. So sue me.

Green Tea made with popcorn?
Tea with milk & sugar - OK. Not made with popcorn or anything, just Ceylon tea (English blend) served in a cup.
Refreshing ain't the word on a very hot day.

In the far north of Germany, they used to have it Very Sweet (Sugar in one solid lump), with Cream. . . .

Ah, I see where you got the popcorn notion No, it's brown rice and green tea powder mixed with green tea leaves. 'Robust', one might call the flavor. I like it salty, not sweet. I think I tried buttered salted Tibetan tea long ago. I'll have to drop some ghee in the Genmai-Cha.

Meanwhile, human languages have only two words for tea: te, and cha. Why?

When I was out in the field with the Korean Army on maneuvers they made 'tea' in huge pots on the stove (there was 3' of snow outside the tent) that they made from roasted barley. It was rather decent.

A pity you didn't have a portable still with you; think of the 'up spirits' ! :)
[thought. You didn't have a still, did you ?]

We're having our first dust storm of the year. It wasn't bad at my office. There's dust in the air at home, but not enough to change visibility. Traffic reports were saying that dust at a major interchange south of here was a major visibility problem.

Evening all,

A very busy day around here. I spent most of the day on the phone with my publisher and a bunch of people from the editing department. It seems my new series is causing quite a stir. Enough so that my publisher wants a new series of the same type. Ideas are bouncing all over the place but no place I feel could go anywhere.

I have several novel ideas under construction but none fit YA. Be careful of success, it can bite you in the ass.

Good ideas are few and far between.

Okay, fresh coffee for the masses. A fresh kettle for the select few.

Rain has hit this place, you will probably get it tomorrow.

We're due for freezing fog tonight. Sounds like a good night to stay home with a good book, classical music on the radio and a bottle of good red. Oh, and for dinner I'm experimenting with batch of duck and pork enchiladas verdes. So far it certainly smells good.

What is the "verdes" in those enchiladas? Chile, tomatilla's or something else?

Brain storming sessions like that are often only the start of things--or nothing at all. Maybe they shouldn't be impatient, or maybe they're trying to milk you for more before you kick off.

That indeed sounds divine. :rose:

:D I ain't planning to kick off anytime soon.

The brainstorming didn't work but a commercial on TV that i caught parts of earlier, might have supplied the spark for something modern and up to date. There are voice activated house and internet controllers. How about one for dreams, flights of fancy, and young imaginations? Now to let it germinate.

It was in the low thirties this morning and they are talking about 80 as a high in the next couple of days. The roller coaster winter continues.

Staples are out. The knee is sore but PT is thrilled with the progress. I can stop using the walker even. :)

There used to be a song about a girl who would turn on her radio and a man would appear. She turned off the radio and her lover disappeared. I always thought that would be a perfect situation. :D

"Alexa, give me a dream."

Odd, but I had a dental appointment today and the dental assistant was named Alexa. I'm guessing that she doesn't have the Amazon product in her home.

We've had an unusual evening.

'Round about 6:30 the State Police descended on the neighborhood. There's a very large 'Special Ops' truck parked at one side of my house, helicopters overhead, and personnel vehicles down the street. The state has mounted an attack on the fortified house a couple doors down.

We went outside to see what was going on and someone pointed a light at us and said "Stay inside."

Yes sir.

There were tank-like vehicles and anti-bomb robots sent down the street. There was a flash-bang. A woman was walked down the street in cuffs., and still the helicopter circles overhead.

No gunshots. Yet.

Five so far, and probably fairly small caliber from the sound of it.

You live in a much more interesting neighborhood than I do. We have sirens and stuff but it usual the rescue vehicle or an ambulance. Lot of old people around here equals a lot of medical calls. The only choppers we get are medevac and an occasional military job flying between Houston and Dallas.

When swat shows up, you can tell how stupid the people they are after are by the small caliber gunfire.

SWAT didn't show up until it was over. "Special Operations" is something else. That might give you some idea how intense it was

D'no what idiots think--nor do I know why the State was here. It was probably something to do with medium-scale drug dealing. The State had military firepower on my street. I'm not comfortable with that at any level.

I saw the guys and gals coming and going from that house. They were not a threat to me. I was more comfortable with them than I was with the State's assault on my neighborhood.

You do have interesting neighbors. This is about the most exciting crime that happens where I live, and I kind of like it that way. One of the reasons I was soooo happy moving here.
