I've been struggling to put two paragraphs together in a day for 'Yellow Mountain,' so this morning I decided to wing it with a story that's been brewing for a couple days. I got 3400 words in before I decided to call it a day.

At that rate I could even write a story for the holiday contest.

Congrats on the word count. I didn't have time to write today.

Thank you to all the Veterans, those that are currently serving and their families. Your sacrifice and service is greatly appreciated.

Our weather crosses the lake from there so whatever they have, we get.

The older I get, the less I like our winters. I get why half the senior population heads to FL or AZ.

why not any of the other 'southern' states ?
We are told to expect some real cold weather [from the west?] in the next few days. I ain't looking forward to it.
But my government has determined that I'm poor and aged enough to warrant a few quid towards my heating bills. It's better than nought !

Today is our Day of Remembrance.
Tomorrow, Sunday, is the day we all march towards and then stand at the various memorials to the dead.

Veterans' Day: I didn't go out for my free sandwich. Slept all day. Can't wait for that cardiac restart in a few days. Anyway, winter has brushed us here in the central Sierra Nevada mtns. Rain, heavy and wet, hopefully soaking all the wildfire zones. The crew widening our road left lots of debris piled around. Maybe they'll clean up on a dry day.

After the cardiac angiogram and restart, we'll see what's next. Some sort of surgery, for sure. If I'm laid up for any period, I'll have time to write again, right? I can do that piece about Gertrude Stein seducing scores of Parisian housewives.

Still sick but off to work.

Still sick but off to work.

Think of the evil grins you can give when sneezing and spreading your germs about the workplace. . .

Transferring photo files from one thing to another device can take for ever.
I just discovered that if my screen saver clicks in, no more files are transferred.
So much for a bit of TV whilst lots is going on !

Does the Epoxy layer go on 'scraped', [like spreadng butter on the bread], or is it poured on ?

The epoxy goes on like paint. I use a short nap roller. The first coat is usually two coats as most of the first roll soaks into the wood and the second gives a gloss. When I seal the end grain on the plywood used for the bow plate and the transom, I mix fine sawdust into the epoxy until it is a paste. That is applied with a plastic trowel.

Morning all, Houston won't have an official Veterans day parade this year. They used all their parade money on the world series parade. There will be several privately sponsored ones though and a big party at the Redneck Country Club.

I think I'll take the day off from the shop and catch up on some writing and an edit.

There is fresh coffee and several dozen pigs in a blanket. Help yourself.

It takes a long, long time to move a load of photo files from one thing to another.
I need coffee . . . .
[and I'll gladly try one of those pigs in a blanket please.]

The old motherboard has finally turned up it's tootsies and shuffled off to silicon heaven. :(
This is, to put it mildly, inconvenient; I have not finished backing up my photos.
Cross your fingers, please, folks. HP does not want to loose the last couple or year's photos.
But now - Tea, I think.
It's late and I want to attend the Remembrance Sunday parade tomorrow.
I just hope the weather stays dry. :)

As long as the motherboard didn't smoke the hard drive, then all your stuff should still be on the hard drive. Check on a company called rocketfish. They make stand-a-lone hard drive cases. Pop the cover, stick your hard drive inside, hook up a cable and you have a usb hard drive.

Aw, but they're such a nice and caring group. Seriously, each person I worked with today made a point of asking how I was feeling and really wanted to know. I really do like where I work, just wish it were closer to home.

Pigs in a blanket sounds good, thanks. Been a long time since I had some of those.

Oh, that does sound lovely.

How very considerate of you. :rose:
I think ~I had best finish dressing; the parade starts in an hour.
Have a nice day, folks

PS. Any chance of coffee upon my return ?

One fresh pot of coffee coming up.

No donuts or pigs in blankets this morning. I seem to have blown the budget for the month. Can you say 'none profit' kiddies.

In any case, happy Sinday. :D

Have to hit a couple stores, do laundry, wash the kid, balance budhet, cook, and the kid wants to make mini cupckaes. Oh, and writing. God have mercy, this cold is kicking my butt.

I felt poorly a couple nights ago--stuffy, a little feverish--then I had some Italian chicken soup. The malady lasted about an hour and a half.

My daughter once told me about 'chicken soup' - the Jewish way [put her off it for life, she said]. I've never quite got the taste for that soup, somehow.

Meanwhile, after an afternoon battling with a pc which really did NOT want to have extra hard drives fitted [despite a motherboard of the kind which can handle several], I am nearly ready to switch it on and try it.

Can someone arrange for an infusion of coffee more-or-less permanent please ?
:)

There was an intervenes setup around here but I think MP carried it off.

I'll make a fresh pot.

The outsides of both boats are finished so tomorrow I can flip them over and start on the insides.

PLEASE MAKE AVAILABLE THE COFFEE INFUSION MACHINE FOR HP.

Good morning all; I got the drives in [~I had to remove and re=fit an enormous heat sink to do it], but it duly lit up. I'll have to re-install the graphics card [matrox], 'cos the nvidia thing's giving error messages.
Nothing's ever simple, is it ?:(

Coffee please; by the pint !

Moanday, Moanday, Bitch and Moanday.

Okay, I'll make coffee instead of singing. Uh, yeah, that was my version of singing and no frogs were harmed when i did, so there.

Sing, please. While you pour the coffee. Got up at some ungodly hour to write more and you know you're in trouble when you do that. Deadlines loom...
