Hi all.

I am back with updates. :)

First off, I had my surgery last Friday and everyone says it went well (I of course don't remember, as I shouldn't). It was a little rough coming out of the anesthesia but I was good by 24 hours later and came home on Sunday.

Since then I have been about as expected I guess. Kind of tired, but taking walks as ordered and resting when it feels necessary. I even went shopping today! Which was probably a little much, but hey, I'll sleep well tonight (in the recliner, as I have been since I came home).

Finally, best news is that my pathology report came back and I am clear. I do not need chemo or radiation. The Penn Parents are very pleased, as of course are Mr. Penn and myself. At this point I will go for followups and soon, I guess, start my anti-hormonal treatments. I will also be continuing with the reconstruction on the right side.

So hey, I've had a pretty good day all things considered. I hope everyone else gets good news too. :)

An exciting drive home. Driving down the road close to our house and three teenage boys in a little sports car came rocketing around the corner and spun out right in front of me. Missed me and everyone else as they spun like a top but they took out a pole, a telephone box and a small tree and ended up in someone's drive completely wrecked. No glass left, the front crunched in, gas everywhere. Had to open the doors from the outside to get them out and they all needed a bit of help - they were a bit wobbly. Did my thing and checked them out - lots of bruises and cuts and scrapes and they really got bounced around but they were lucky. Nothing broken, no one else injured, no other cars hit. Called an ambulance and the police and waited till they got there and then continued on my way.... told the kids it was their lucky day. If they'd rolled instead of spun, it wouldn't have been quite so easy on them. Someone's got a heck of a mess in their driveway tho.....

I would like to think they learned something, but I suspect that they walked away thinking they it was fun rather than dangerous.

Looking back, I'm amazed at how many teenage boys actually survive. Oddly, lots of us did. Maybe if modern medicine weren't so good then the Darwin effect would work better.

They had an ER nurse to do triage. How lucky could they be?

A very good point.
An interesting thought, though. Would the driver's Insurance (eh?, what ?) be the subject of a claim for repairs to the damaged garden ?

PennLady: Great News; long may it continue.

And this morning, we have clear skies at +13C.
Now, where's the coffee?

Morning all,

Hypoxia, does your eye doctor and surgeon know you live at higher altitude? The lower pressure can cause bleeding problems.

The coffee is ready and there will be donuts a little later when the doughnut shop opens.

Well the insurance should cover the pole and the telephone thingie. The tree was looking okay this morning and their was tape everywhere but they'd already removed the downed pole. That was fast. The boys? One of those things you shake your head over later and go "hey, you remember when ....."

I do. Boyfriend, me, a few guys in the back of the truck, Friday nite, sideswiping old drums the work crew left along the side of some back road. Whack whack whack knocking them down ....lots of fun .... came back the next weekend and whack whack whack CRUNCH. Those works guys had a sense of humor. They filled one drum with chunks of concrete. And one old truck needed a lot of work.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. :)

Should be a nice quiet day for recovering. The Penn Parents took the PennKids to the shore for an overnight trip.

Also my brother and his wife sent some lovely flowers and what look to be some delicious chocolates (Pergale; anyone know the name?). So now I know what dessert is. :)

Many years ago, a car hit our house. The driver had the same insurance company as we did but it was a huge mess to get the damage covered. Our homeowner's insurance had to sue her car insurance (same companies, remember). We were told that normally takes a few months, and it did. Meanwhile, my garage door wouldn't open, I had two cars inside I couldn't get to, and the door going into the house wouldn't close so I couldn't lock my house when I went to work. We dealt with the insurance company for months. The woman driving the car that hit the house? She didn't even get a ticket.

Yes, the retinologists know I'm at elevation. I'm cleared to drive over the Sierras. (GREAT Sunday Indian buffet at Nikki's, South Lake Tahoe!) My surgeries haven't involved a 'bubble' in an eyeball -- that would keep me in the lowlands, ick.

The latest complication wasn't exactly unexpected. Around 1/3 who've had the surgery experience this, and it'll probably hit the other eye too, which is more damaged. It's good to have at least one functional eye at a time. Hey, I want a Geordie LaForge sensory visor!

You could drive a car into HER house! No, forget that. Just repeat this holy mantra: Hell is other people.

Well done, ladies, all of you.

I remember telling my class that the male brain isn't mature until age thirty. And if they don't believe me they should go ask their fathers about what he did before he turned thirty. One girl actually did and her father told her, "I don't even want to talk about it!" It drove home the point rather well, I thought.

Hey, I want a Geordie LaForge sensory visor!

As I recall he wasn't too enamoured of it.
But Good Luck anyway.

Tea, I think

Enjoy being spoiled for a while. It won't last so make the most of it! :)

Pergale is Lithuanian in origin - a swish present.

The sun came out for the first time today after 6:00 PM. That's odd for us.

And with all those clouds, there was hardly a drop of rain.

The hurricane is now forecast to be a cat 3 by landfall. The problem is, it is only going a short ways inland and stalling before hooking a right turn toward Houston but it's taking 4-6 days in doing it. Forecast on rain totals are now over 30+ inches in some areas. 14-16 where i am.

So if ya want some rain water, wait a few days and we'll pipe you a few thousand gallons.

Send them over to the Colorado River and we'll take it from there. ;)

Stay dry, Tx. Don't float away...

You better hurry and build an ark.

Water, water, everywhere, and not a drop to pipe to where it's needed.

Texas should import Dutch engineers to build a good water control system.

Couldn't hurt to build orbiting solar mirrors too, to deflect hurricanes.

Be sure to send storms to Arizona. Phoenix needs a good flushing-out.
