The eclipse was the big news of the day and I missed it, being trundled off to the wizard retinologists (www.retinalmd.com) to see why my right eye (first eye surgery, 6 weeks ago) suddenly went wonky over the weekend. For me, no looking at stuff in the sky; many bright lights intruding on my eyeballs in the clinic. Ooh, look at all those capillaries! So dendritic!
But no eclipse. Well, a fatter patient nearly mooned us, but that's not the same. If two folks moon each other from passing cars, is that a lunar eclimpse? But I digress. The finding: yeah, there's something serious there. Take these pills and come back in ten days. Hope you don't go blind by then. The pills should help. Right. Oh boy, more steroids. They help my general body pain.
Meanwhile, it's fucking four in the morning here. Everyone is awake, and not just from the rude neighbor taking his pickup out for a morning noise-drive. Yesterday's doc told me to keep my head elevated so loose blood would sink down and not not present as floaters. So I'm trying to sleep on the recliner sofa, keep my head up, yada yada. And we've no TV here. How can I go brain-dead?
I tell ya, if you want to see wild images, get a deep-scan eye exam. You get to watch your eyes' circulatory system in vivid color, and if you're familiar with topographic maps and leaf veins, you'll recognize the fractal patterns. As the probing lights shift, your scenery shifts between dimensions. Wow man, traces...
Is it time yet for coffee? Check watch: four fucking thirty in the morning. No, it's time for cocoa and Wild Turkey. Then sleep on the couch again. Right.
