After dining in quantity at the cubette's last night, I need to eat gently tonight. Possibly fish, sauerkraut, roast green beans and beer--possibly.

Personally, I'd leave out the sauerkraut and make a salsa for the fish based on fresh tomatoes, avocado and herbs.

But then I ate a plate full of pasta for dinner.

I've not seen Vivitar stuff for a long time.
It used to be quite pricey, back in the day.
Viv popularity phases in and out. It's generally agreed they went downhill after 1980 or so. But lots of their early glass is simply stunning. I possess hundreds of lenses, many of which require helicoid or bellows mounts. I sometimes think, "If I had to get rid of all but one lens for my half-frame DSLR, which would I keep?" A strong contender is the Komine-made Vivitar Close Focus Wide Angle 28/2 that cost me US$19. Some Nikkors and Takumars are about as good; none are better.

Do please tell me about the Tomioka.
It's marked as Sears. Yeah, Sears sold much first-rate glass for a pittance. One of my fave zooms is a Tokina-made Sears 55-135/3.5 that's impossible to beat for portraiture. Cost me eight bucks. I found two Tomioka-made Sears 55/1.4s, one for four bucks, one for ten times as much, both almost in the same class as the Pentax F50/1.2 which cost me almost 10x more than the 55/1.4 a few years back and goes for rather more now.

Looks like a winner but ooh, the price! Selling my old glass would profit me greatly.

Morning all,

Moanday, Moanday. Fresh coffee to start the new week.

August first is coming up. If a Texas Roadrunner sees his shadow, we have six more weeks of summer. :D A small cooler front through here this morning. A ten degree drop in the morning temp. Enjoyable.

"Ah - yes. Did someone say 'coffee' ? Oh yes, please"

What started as a brilliant sunlit morn has descended into wind-blown chaos and much cloud; I think I'd better bring in my laundry. . . .
:)

PS. keep your collective eyes ready on the 21-Aug. Look HERE.

I've been awake since just before five thanks to a skunk.

A former neighbor had one move under his house. Normally that isn't much of a big deal but it turns out that epilepsy is pretty common in the species and it makes them 'fire' for no reason. Happened three times before a trapper finally collected the beastie and released it out in a green belt down in the next county. Funny in retrospect but at the time? Uh-uh!

I read things like Bear's little story above, and then read Molly's tale of woe about some animal in her walls, and it makes me wonder about how an ordinary suburban house is constructed in the good ole' US of A.

Time for Tea, I think..
I'll leave the kettle full and hot.

We heard from our second daughter last week after her little dog (toy yorky-poo with the attitude of a much larger animal) tangled with a skunk. She needed to figure out how to get the gunk off her face and the smell out of her coat.

The dog didn't seem to care. It was like a badge to her.

We get a whiff of skunk in my neighborhood every now and then, but this is a suburban/agricultural area. My daughter lives in the middle of town.

Maybe I shouldn't be surprised. Coyotes have been spotted in the upscale neighborhood behind my office, and that's Midtown. Why not skunks?

There are sexual connotations to that, you know. :D

I think that would be a great opening line to a literotica story.

Yeah? Maybe that's the boost I need to get me writing again. Of course, I'm positive your thoughts are not even close to mine. :rose:

I live in a dinky little town less than a mile from the lake but the apartment complex has woods surrounding it.

A skunk hid under our upslope storage container . A fox moved in nearby and finished that. Then a big housecat scared the little fox away. Darn. Now we have bears (big and little) wandering in from the adjacent wilderness. Maybe skunks are better. Their turds are smaller, anyway.

Time for another Sierra Nevada coffee stout. Pretend it's stimulating.

Welcome to Toesday, wiggle them if you've got them.

Fresh coffee and cinnamon rolls. sounds good.

Ended up at the park by the lake early yesterday morning while it was cool. I spent more time people watching than writing but that was ok. I found a couple of characters I had been looking for.

A little shopping in a local town and a trip round the local wild-life park. I think the Ducks reckon all humans are merely a source of food.

And now - Tea!

First of the month. Go shopping, pay bills and then retreat to the AC. 97° is too warm for this furbearer. And the rest of the week doesn't look favorable, either.

Roasted garden fresh summer squash and some wonderful shrimp for dinner. Sweet little black cat begging for attention next to me but I need to go out for a walk before a dessert of fresh cherries and some editing work. Hope everyone else is enjoying a fine summer evening. :rose:

I'm growing zucchini for the first time.

Tonight I'll make 1/2 recipe of zucchini soup. That will use four squash and leave me with three--all of which I picked since the dinner was planned. Tomorrow morning I'll cut two more, and I'll have more squash than I had when the "use the squash" recipe was planned.

I'm falling behind.

:D We all do. I have several giant summer and zucchini squash in the fridge, as well as four large cucumbers. I was thinking of trying a broth and cream based squash soup, using the immersion blender. I've also found zucchini can take the place of eggplant in eggplant parm.

Well, okay, this IS Literotica, right? So I got home from work exhausted and sacked out on the couch and then I got this call from my partner who said he'd just heard the weather forecast and he wanted to pass it on to me .....

So you all have a pleasant evening. I'm going to do a Tex here and leave y'all to it :D

I used the immersion blender for the soup tonight (broth, whole milk, onion, potato, zucchini, butter, spices). It worked really well. I did have the idea that I'd leave some chunks for texture, but they were all gone before I knew. It also took about 10 minutes off the cooking time and another 10 minutes off the cleanup time, because the recipe expected me to batch everything out to a blender. I also (based on user comments to the recipe) managed to reduce it all to a one-pot meal, but that maybe added five minutes to the cooking time.

Anyway, the recipe called for one hour from start to finish and it took a little less than that. And I learned that my home-grown zucchini are REALLY crisp. I dropped one on the floor and it broke.

I imagine if they're fresh enough, they'll do that. Only old ones would be rubbery.

I think I'll stick to my usual supplier (even if their computer's a bit weird).

All this Zuchini & Squash (we drink those over here) things are making me feel ill.
Can I have a poached egg on toast please?

But first the Coffee!

Better late than never. Welcome to Hump Day, even if our little miss Chloe got a head start. :D

Yes coffee, like there is any other answer.

Finishing off the last of the strawberry Cinnamon rolls this morning.
