How do you prune a rose with coffee? Wouldn't pruning shea... never mind.

Lol - just typed in "pruning" and must have finger fumbled - auto-correct came up with "orgasm..." How does that even work? Interesting device, I didn't know it had site specific predictive text. It doesn't always work properly though - cock always turns into co co (I've not yet conditioned myself to fix it later with 'find/replace' - it just looks soooo wrong in the draft).

The first thing I do with any device, operating system, or program is to shut off auto-correct. Solves all sorts of problems. :D

Speaking of auto-correct, I have a western to edit for an upcoming group story deal being put out by BlackRandi. Something like our deal with SlickWillie.

The last of the coffee, so I'll make a fresh pot for the evening crew.

It has been a really long day at work but I just finished editing and submitting my second story for the Halloween contest. Now, on to the novel I want to submit this month.

Why am I in such a rush to put everything I possibly can out for publication? Because. :D

Oh well done. Still working on mine. Start and end done and finishing off the middle. Up early tomorrow to see how much I can complete before Monday.

I don't do roses. Though my late wife loved them, I kept falling into the bushes whenever I tried to deal with them. It's embarrassing having your MIL pull the thorns out of your butt after that happens. Orchids, . Roses, no!

Prunes are in the rose botanical family so that's okay.

Do you have favorite botanical families?

I think the Solanaceae, the Tomato family, top my list, with Nightshade, Datura / Jimson Weed, Tobacco, Tomatoes, Potatoes, Bell and Hot Peppers, Eggplants, Petunias, almost anything a kid could want. Next are the Rosaceae, with Roses, most stone fruits (Apples, Pears, Peaches, Apricots, Plums) and berries (rasp- and black- and straw- and Boysen-berry) and nuts (Almond, Cashew). I also love Cactaceae; cacti are related to roses.

Of course we can't forget the Graminae, the grass family, with all those grains that fill us: maize corn, wheat, rye, oats, barley, etc. The Menthae or mint family gives us many savory herbs. Leguminae are all those beans, lentils, garbanzos, etc. And Orchidaceae aren't only pretty -- vanilla is an orchid.

I'd rather talk about plants than my worsening medical news. And it's too late again for coffee. I'll put myself to sleep with the 'ukulele I reverse-tuned so it's like a left-handed mandolin, sort of. BLUE SKIES sounds a bit strange on it. Play it slow and soporific...

Good Luck with the medics.
As dawn gives way to real daylight round here, it's blowin' half a gale.
Coffee, I think

Is it morning? This can't be morning, it's too dark. Sunday is going to be a busy day so I figured I better get up early if I wanted to get a little lazy in.

Debating breakfast and wishing I had bought cinnamon rolls. Sigh.

The incoming storm and cold front woke me up at daylight. Nothing heavy, just rumbling thunder in the distance and a light to moderate rain so far. Took my meds, downed a couple of doughnut holes, had a glass of chocolate milk.

Now. back to bed to resume cuddling. :)

Fresh coffee for those who have to be awake. I'm leaving a noonish wake-up call.

Ah, enjoy cuddles.

I ended up making a whole wheat blueberry coffee cake with lots of pecans and cinnamon.

I also read my first H.P. Lovecraft story. I quite enjoyed it, I have a whole collection to enjoy. :)

I'm glad you have reminded me. H P Lovecraft always had a curious way of doing it.
I'm not a great fan of horror (I really prefer humour), but I have a couple of his books (picked up for pennies). I really must remind myself of his work sometime soon.

Time for a coffee, I think

One of the great minds of his time. :D

So, I'll make a fresh pot and start the day a notch later than normal, much wiser and happier.

The temp is a few degrees cooler than it was when I was up earlier. I'm far from cold as the housemate is siting in my lap and teasing me. It makes it hard to type reaching around her but a well worth it. :)

I got the chain saw out this morning for the first time in a couple years. I had a little trouble getting it going, but now I have enough firewood cut for the chiminea to last for a month or so.

I take it that the quantity prepared is related to the ability to store it ?
Now for a nice cup of tea. . . .

Not really. I can usually buy "chiminea wood," which is usually pinon (pinyon) pine cut to half the length of normal firewood. It burns well and has a pleasant aroma. The store wasn't stocking "chiminea wood" yet, so I bought a couple bundles of their regular firewood, which is a lot lower quality. I didn't want to buy very much. I have to step on it to hold it in place while I cut it in two with a chain saw running next to my foot. The less I do of that, the better.

I'm grumbling.

Unlikely Angels is almost half of what I've posted to Lit, and I think I'm going to pull it off. It's already been lifted from Lit a few times, and that's about the best feedback I have. The response I'm getting from the Lit readers doesn't justify my continued effort.

I've always intended to finish the story and I still do, but I guess that won't be for Lit. I don't want to post any more of it here and I don't want to leave an unfinished story hanging on my account. I think I'll just leave it up long enough to make sure that both of its Lit fans have read it, then I'll ask Laurel to take it down.

Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. I have a story I originally started for Lit but I never posted it here. It is the basis of the ten novel series I am doing now. I was about halfway through the first chapter when i had a better idea. The overall story arc was there but very condensed. I dropped the sex and plotted the arch in more detail. That led to more detail and finally to something my editor fell in love with.

Always trust your instincts when writing long and then check it twice. ;)

Morning Folks! :rose::kiss: A day off! Coffee, coffee, coffee, writing, coffee, hair cut, coffee, coffee, oil change, coffee. Hmmm, might want to get lunch in there somewhere, huh? My second story is up for the contest and it's already taking a beating. *sigh* It's a good story anyway, I'm glad I wrote it.

I've run into trouble with mine and ~I doubt it will be edited in time for submission.
Gllom

<brightens up> Coffee!

Thanks for that. My story is on an opposite track from yours. I originally started it as a novel several years before coming to Lit, then posted the first seven chapters to Lit during a lull. I knew that the story as a whole wasn't appropriate for Lit, but I thought that part would stand alone. I was wrong.

I had written through the beginning of what is now chapter 12 so I went ahead and posted them and the feedback gave me the motivation to finish 12 and 13. For later chapters I started adapting the story to Lit tastes and added things I never intended to put in.

After I take it off I'll probably rewrite chapters 14-20 to put them back to something more like the original tone of the story.

Morning everyone.... Checks clock quickly.... Okay, it is still morning.

Moanday morning phone tag, was the name of the game this morning. I think I'll set out the second round. Next time, I'm setting out the first round. They messed up a nice comfy snuggle and cuddle session. The temps are getting just right.

Coffee, yeah, coffee, sounds good.

The equivalent of 7 Nano's in 11 months. Sounds like a lot but it's only 1056 words a day, every day. The first one is due to hit the market around Christmas. If it does as well as everyone expects then I'm taking a well deserved vacation somewhere naked. It should prove interesting as housemate and houseguest have never been to such a place. That is if you discount my backyard. :D

I hope that works out for you--1056 words every day seems like a lot to me.
