Waters already over the culvert on our farm. .5” of rain so far and another .4 expected to fall.

It’s not that unusual… a good half inch of rain in a couple of hours will do it.

But if that culvert gets washed out… I’m fucked.

Woke up with a few rare inches of snow. The neighbor kids were out early. The street has been invaded by snowmen. Several more inches are forecast for tonight.

A melancholy has settled in my heart - I miss my kids.

They've been chasing people out of Yosemite.
Not surprising. The stupidity displayed by visitors to the mountains can reach epic proportions. Sometimes locals use the word "cityots" to describe them.

Yesterday I spoke to a married couple with kids from San Francisco who were heading to stay the weekend at a cabin near Lake Tahoe. They were in a hurry to stay ahead of the storm, which coincidentally was heading for exactly where they planned to stay.

My thought was "what part of 12 feet of snow and winds ranging from 75 to 130 mph don't you get?"

I bet.... and road closures galore... people have no idea the danger of that much snow.... when my dad was driving truck he didn't go through there from September to may.... it will snow on a dime at higher elevations
I live just on the west side and they close Yosemite as the storm was coming in. The pass to the east side is also closed typically from October till May. Your dad was definitely right, as conditions change up her rapidly.
