I wish they would do that in MinnesotaHere, you’re carded to make sure there’s no yellow stripe on your driver’s license. If so, you’re banned from purchasing alcohol due to a DUI.

There’s a lot of adrenaline opportunities in the military. The rush is amazing!!!I had a friend on the coast guard.... he was an adrenaline junkie and I suspect a little nuts
I feel the pain! My ‘98 F-150 only lasted 224,000 miles and 18 years, before burning a valve. I looked into buying a replacement engine rather than repairing the existing motor. But soon realized the cost and effort to repair a 20 year old truck was…excessive. Body and interior in near perfect shape, no other big problems. Found somebody who was willing to give me 800 bucks for it, and just moved on. At the time was in the process of building the new home that I designed, and didn’t want to commit to new car payments. Opened my mind to alternatives and recalled we liked Volvos, but never had one. Found a clean ‘07 turbo wagon with low miles that I could make a good deal on. I just didn’t need a truck anymore, but I really did like that truck. Learned to love the Volvo, and over a period of a few years, we’ve purchased two of them. One was a gift to myself after beating cancer. What’s frustrating is that it only has 166K miles on it. The engine and body are still ok. It’s the electrical system that’s shot. I’ve already replaced the module that controls the distribution of electricity once before and now other components are going that cannot be replaced because parts are no longer available. Also the cab leaks when it rains which has compounded the problem. Other little nagging issues as well. Twenty years is a pretty good run though. Going out to the dealerships today to try and narrow my range of options. I’m all over the place in terms of what category to shop in. Kinda fun.
Thanks. Not a downer at all, in my opinion. There’s a lot to be said for living in the moment and appreciating the moment at the same time. If I had a Flux Capacitor and a DeLorean, it’s one of those things that 53 year old me would tell 20 year old me to do.
Welcome neighbpor! This is a good forum.Hello everyone
I am impressed you were diagnosed so quickly. I spent last week with some of those same symptoms but waited until everything went into the sinuses. Its was a difficult time.So yesterday, I got to learn that at my age, it’s rare to have strep throat, PLUS strep is apparently behaving differently this winter!
I’d been having sinus issues for a week and a half to two weeks, which I attributed to my usual February seasonal allergies that make no sense… and then during this week coughing started, the sore throat started on Thursday. So Saturday morning I wake up feeling like crap and decide to get to urgent care and see what’s going on, and I was lucky that the nurse checking me in offered to do the strep test right away, because we had the results by the time a PA saw me, so they had had to send a prescription to be picked up, and I’m feeling better, just have to take these pills twice a day for 10 days!
Had a job in my 30's where I was sent around the world to support the software my company made to manage major events. It was military/firefighter type work, lots of boredom punctuated by incredibly high stress moments. There was a group of us from different countries and we knew and loved each other, still in touch with most of them. We would work the day and then go out drinking and partying until 3 AM, always absorbing the local cuisine and beverages. Between being experts at the venue and the most "exotic" folks many of the volunteers/staff had met, we were treated like rock stars.Has anyone ever had a job that was just plain fun and you might have done it for free?
I won’t go first because I had the best one![]()
I can’t say I’ve ever had a job I loved so much that I’d do it for free but I did get to travel all over the world during my career and had plenty of fun sightseeing, staying in nice hotels, dining in great restaurants, and partying till the wee hours of the night with colleagues. Some pretty crazy stories and memories from those days!
Now you’re talking!!!I worked in a record store as my college job in the early 90’s. I could have done that forever if I didn’t need to start making real money.
For the three years of HS, my summer job was clamming. We would of course work with the tide, so some weeks it was up early, other drift out later. There was a collection of 5-6 friends. We’d get inner tubes and wire a laundry basket inside. Tie this around your waist and crab walk through the sloughs and the sound to dig clams with hands and feet!I won’t go first because I had the best one![]()
Thanks for the welcome..Welcome neighbpor! This is a good forum.
I can imagine! I think there’s been a lot of strep in the area so they prioritized the testing.I am impressed you were diagnosed so quickly. I spent last week with some of those same symptoms but waited until everything went into the sinuses. Its was a difficult time.
Because I have a rather self-deprecating sense of humor and find it amusing to call myself old even as I get told I look 15 years younger than my actual age. I figured, too, that there were younger people on lit who probably think of 50 as old… but if they stick around long enough they will get closer and closer to the minimum age'Old' implies
Why not instead:

We had tornado warnings in San Diego almost two weeks ago, I don’t remember it happening before but I guess it wasn’t the first time.Tornadoes possible in Northern California. WTF?
Yeah. A few years ago a tunnel cloud went right over my house in one of the Sacramento suburbs. Naturally I went to look as it passed over. I could see the rotation in the clouds. It was very cool. Sometimes I'm glad my makeup does not include an instinct for self preservation. We had tornado warnings in San Diego almost two weeks ago, I don’t remember it happening before but I guess it wasn’t the first time.
I grew up in NorCal and there sure wasn’t any tornado warnings in the 70’s.
I hate it when there’s no food in the house except ingredients for food
