I did not know what it was. A guy was saying at Christmas one year at the meat market he was doing all 8 bones Prime Rib in one. Sounded really cool. I was looking around the apple store and saw an aNova Sous vide on the shelf. Pricey but bought it. Other than needing the foodsaver to take the air out of bags it is simple.
It is a different prep time and maybe a little more work. I like the imagination it inspires. I use it a lot more in the summer than I do in winter. I'm best at beef. I have done stuff with pork that all I needed was better bbq sauce. I got the pork so tender and juicy then since it is already cooked could smoke it at 125. You can paoch scallops in butter. Cook them dry and refridgerate. Slice them thin for a salad with no flavor lost. You can leave a tough cut of beef in for too long and it can't over cook, but becomes so tender you could spread it with a knife.
I'll say it again. The more you play with it I the more your imagination is inspired. It also thaws things very quickly.
For those not heard of it. It is a fan that stirs water with a heat element attached to it. Rare beef is 128 degrees. Set the temp to 128. drop the beef in a food safe bag suckout the air.Submerged in water exactly 128 degress it can't go higher or lower. Once you are confident the temp is through the whole object it is ready. With alomost no flavor loss.
I've looked at them. I might consider. However, my new oven has an "air sous vide" feature. I haven't tried it yet. It might be easier and less complicated than the water sous vide.

I haven't checked it out. I'll have to look at the owners manual to see how it works. It also has an air fryer feature. I love that one! I will probably get rid of my countertop air fryer.
I have an LG with that feature and I don't know that it's all that great.

Ours was delivered dented and we're using it until an undamaged one comes in. I don't like it that the cooling fan beneath the cooktop comes on and is very noisy when the front left top burner is turned on. It takes about it minute for the noise to go away. I'm hoping this noise is because it's a damaged unit.

I made a gift registry.... I have bought a few things but I am pretty good at controlling myself. I paid off my cc debt and the last of my student loans for my bachelors degree this week..... sort of proud of myself
Congratulations!!!
Deservedly proud event!!!

Huge accomplishments. Don't be sort of proud. Be proud as hell of that. My downfall has been decorating a new office and gift giving..

Imma gonna toss my cookies if I hear 'Kelce' one more time..

C'mon RAVENS!!

just saying' ;)

By any chance did anyone see that video where Deion Sanders, head coach at University of Colorado Boulder, requested Marines come to the teams practice? Pretty Kool.
Right there with you several hours behind. That no call near the end would have evened up the shitty calling. A touch down there may have tied the game and made them work for it. Instead we have to listen to kelce bullshit and worse. I hate mahomie. I hate their fat man coach even more. I still feel like he ran the Philly franchise in the ground and left.

Don't get rid of the counter top unit just yet. Stoves with air fryer options don't generally work as well as the counter top units
