My bff loves them too. they have 3 trees up. I struggle with 1. I want to be the decorating baking entertaining person but I am alone and everyone has their own families to worry about.... I dont need a pity invite so I just limp through the holidays, keep my mouth shut, and pretend.

I understand how you feel, if for different reasons. My wife goes overboard with presents for the kids, and half of what they get they’re tired of in two weeks… none of them remember anything they got last year. I used to try to convince her to get them one present from us, one from Santa, and a small one from each sibling and that’s it, but by Christmas Eve there’s so much stuff under the tree it’s a good thing it’s artificial because if it was real we couldn’t get in there to water it!I am out of sorts.... I hate the holidays---i just wish they would go away or I could just stay inside locked up and they would pass over and I could come out of my den in the spring.....like a hibernating bear
I haven't gotten an Xmas present in years.... I now get something for one person qnd he is getting money because he is headed off to college soon.... it is just a bunch of stuff that you don't need. I agree with you.
You made me get a tear in my eye missk. Everyone should get SOMETHING...I mean...HOW can people not desire to GIVE? I don't get it. Send me your address and there will be a small present coming your way. We are ALL SO blessed and we don't give? AARRGGHHHH!!!! That REALLY made me sad to read that you have not gotten anything in years.

Its ok. I am so blessed in so many ways. I get many gifts. A warm house, a good job that allows me to have the things I need, etc etc.
My family stopped giving presents to each other years ago. We now donate to charities of each other's choice as our present. Only the littles get presents. Currently there are only two. Not a lot of presents under our tree. I like it that way, tho.
I haven't either. But I prefer it that way. I don't even want presents from my husband.
Sorry Missk. I love ’em, wife hate them. Whatcha gonna do? One thing we’ve started to do over the years is cut down on the stress of the holidays. We bake, we give simple gifts of things people actually need…all in the immediate family. I do get my dart mates a bottle of their favorite…my only indulgence, but it’s because they’ve brightened my life throughout the year.I am out of sorts.... I am adopting a family with my coworkers. We have a Christmas celebration i am on the planning committee for. Lunch and pictures with Santa free for anyone who wants to come. I am trying.We've done similar. I do go overboard with the decorating.
I bake for my neighbors and the local FD and PD. I enjoy it!

This is wonderful! When I was working, each department would get a family. We would have a small stipend to spend on food and gifts, but I always spent more. It was so much fun to go shopping for things the kids had on their lists. I always wanted to get something for the mom, as well. Then we would deliver the food and gifts to the family the week of Thanksgiving.
