There is a good photo thread on the playground called variations on a theme. Each week they have a photo theme. This weeks theme is black and white photography.

I used to participate in about three or four pure photo threads when I first found LIt. There was a B&W thread I was active in and a couple of themed threads. I was a man about town over in that room but once I found this thread, it felt more like home…a place where I could consolidate all those thoughts and inspirations into one tidy place.

Thanks to all who make this thread what it is. I sincerely mean that.

This is my last year of grandpa taxiing. Next year school starts for my grandson and the school system has a preschool for my grand daughter. I have a full year to think of my new role. A year is a long time.

Sad on a level but exciting on another. A new chapter for you grandpa. I’m sure you’ll fill your role just fine.

Well the fair was fun. They held the tractor pulls on Wednesday and it rained so I missed it.

We took two first place: best beets in show and best sunflower ready for harvest.

Three second place: best pumpkin and tallest sorghum. (It was the first time in 12 years we didn’t take first for that!) and nicest argeretum.

And two third place. Best marigolds, best phlox.

All in all, a really nice showing. I did not enter our largest sunflower or our cucumbers. And a few things didn’t place at all.

Maybe look into one of those water tub foot things? They look like a good way to soak those toes.

My mom would freeze a pint water bottle and then roll her foot on it for PF. That may help. Or I can just organize a go team to bring a few of us in on rotation to massage them

Rest rest rest! Stay off your feet today and elevate. Ice them down, so you can at least go a bit tomorrow, but if you can’t, don’t be afraid to pull the plug.

I worked in a warehouse when I was in school. Concrete floor walking all day. I had shin splints from playing basketball back then and it would aggravate that. I can’t imagine walking 5 hrs on solid concrete now

One other thing…soak in Epsome salts.

I forgot to post the recipe when people asked for it. Here it is;

Fruit coffee cake
Mix:
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
4-5 oz Greek yogurt
4-5 oz applesauce

Add to the liquid mixture:
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup whole wheat flour

Then add in 1/2 - 2 cups berries

Pour into greased cake sheet

Sprinkle top with slivered almonds

Bake 350 for 30 minutes.

Today a man knocked on my door and asked for a small donation towards the local swimming pool. I gave him a glass of water.

I named my dog 6 miles so I can tell people that I walk 6 miles every single day.

"I ran a half marathon" sounds so much better than "I quit halfway through a marathon".

Diet Day #1 - I removed all the fattening food from my house. It was delicious.

My speech today will be like a mini-skirt. Long enough to cover the essentials but short enough to hold your attention!

Anger; the feeling that makes your mouth work faster than your mind.

Time may be a great healer but it's also a lousy beautician.

My mum always used to say "40 is the new 30". Lovely woman... banned from driving.

Few women admit their age; few men act it.

When I was young, I always felt like a male trapped in a females body. Then I was born

According to my doctor, now that I had shingles (brought on by stress), I don’t need the vaccine. I wonder if I should get a second opinion.

Ask about the timing - your shingles needs to be fully resolved. CDC says wait 6 months. But get the vaccine - Shingles can recur. I've known people who have had it more than once.
That's my 2 cents...

One or two years ago I removed most of the carpet from my bedroom and left a bit under shelves I didn't want to move. Today I'm quarantined, so I moved one shelf set, removed half of the remaining carpet, and shellacked the shelves, until I had no shellac left. What's left unshellacked is almost enough to buy a new can of shellac.
